Apple TV without a hard drive, but with compatibility with the App Store, this either sounds contradictory to me, or like there's another storage medium it will take advantage of. I really hope it has local storage, I don't want to have to use up bandwidth within my walls, or on the cloud every time I want to watch something on it. I like the idea of the ability to stream content but don't want to have to all the time.

You kidding? Apple are all over AMD at the moment. Granted it's though ATi but there one in the same now so any deals being done with ATi will help AMD's standing with Apple.

As for Fusion... how do you know it's bad?you've seen it action then?
Grated there current line up isn't cracking but no ones even seen Fusion yet so I'll wait till I've used a Fusion based set up to pass judgement.

I was talking about CPUs, not GPUs. (But even when talking about GPUs, I haven't seen an Apple mobile device with an ATI/AMD chip for ... 4 years?, I think 2006 MBPs had ATI chips) Fusion still uses the current AMD Hammer architecture, which is why it can't be competitive. Intel has already released CPUs with integrated GPUs that have a MUCH better CPU-part than Fusion and all AMD can do is promote their better GPU. That won't cut it. Fusion will be for low-end, low-margin computers, something Apple doesn't sell and never will. By the way, Fusion has just been postponed...

As much as I'd like AMD to be a strong competition to Intel, right now they suck CPU-wise.

Full internet experience in ATV

not provided in any of the console yet PS3, xBox or WII (correct me if am wrong)

if Apple TV can provide it with out any limitation i will buy one! (read FLASH)

i use it mainly for blu ray player and syncing my iTunes content, so?

it is a console so what?

In elementary form...

You claim that if Bluray were to be included in the AppleTV, the PS3 would be given a death sentence.

Yet, because YOU only use it as a bluray player, I guess you don't see it for what it really is, a console?

The point is, its primary purpose is to play games, and because the Apple TV won't be doing this (at least high-caliber A+ titles), it just can't possibly ever bring a demise to the PS3.

Makes sense, right?

Good, class is over.

I don't understand what full internet experience means to you. You can most definitely browse the internet on the PS3, watch videos and check emails...

Pfft, why not? The 1G iPhone was perhaps the most well built and longest lasting iPhone ever released. That design was idiot-proof.
It wouldn't be a huge deal, definitely not something I'd even worry more than a few seconds about. I just love how sleek the current design is, and I feel like it would be a small step backwards.

A 7" iPad huh? The iPad itself already has a problem with finding it's niche.

Whaaaaa? Dude they're selling like hotcakes. I don't know many people in NYC who don't have one.

A "streaming only" Apple TV is a deal breaker. In the US our connections are way too slow for that. If I try to rent an HD movie after 7PM I might as well forget it. It takes about 3 or 4 hours to download.

It's amazing that everyone here follows Apple, get's used to their patterns, and then expects Stevie to spice things up in our relationship.

Spring is for iPads
Summer is for iPhones (and dumping iPod Touch stocks with Back to School)
Fall is for iPods

iPhone was released in June of 2007 and updated in February of 2008.

As far as patterns go (see above), first generation products see revisions in less than your allotted year, and then stick to the revised time frame. This'll stick with the iPad as well, as we all know (besides you and your friend).

You can't really state this when you don't even know what a revised metal back would look like. Just using the iPad, that aluminum back is significantly stronger and resistant than the iPhone's glass back. This aluminum Macbook I have, absolutely no scratches, except for two on the bottom.

Glass however, scratches, no matter how chemically enhanced it is. A metal back would be a step forward.

I would love to see an Apple TV with IOS, use an iPhone/iPad/Touch as a remote, or a Wii style remote...and have a HD so that it can be my home media server.

I would like it to also have a blu-ray player, since that would then eliminate my current blu-ray that I also use for NetFlix, Pandorra etc...it WOULD be nice if it had some sort of sling box functionality with a remote application for iOS and can control a set top box..or have built in tuner and have Cable Card compatibility. It should also have a USB port for external HD, if they don't want to include the HD in the unit.

This would greatly allow me to simplify my set-up and have one device for everything, but I don't think we will see that...that would make too much sense, but that would be my dream box.

My wife bought a stylus for the iPad. It works great. They sell a lot of them on Amazon.

That's good to know, as I am interested in note taking.

By the way, are you going to change your name to Torosaurus? :p (the rest of you will have to look that up)

When apple tv gets an app store, we have finally seen the day where apple enters console gaming. Imagine apple competing with the gaming market? Image games where your iPhone is the controller or perhaps a peripheral that houses an iPod or iPhone as the controller with a display on it. Bamf

This sounds like a great idea.

- Apple TV: Finally, the report claims that Apple is preparing to introduce a new Apple TV based on AMD's Fusion platform. The new device, which has been rumored for several months, is said to lack a hard drive and run an interface similar to, and presumably based on, iOS. Support for "social networking websites, network multimedia and the App Store" is said to be included. Mass production of the new Apple TV is reportedly set for December, with an introduction presumably planned for early 2011.
How is iOS going to run on presumably an x86 based platform?

A 7" iPad huh? The iPad itself already has a problem with finding it's niche. Never mind a 7" version. To top it all off, a Verizon iPhone huh? Hasn't that been brought up every year since the iPhone has been out? Lol. I guess if you keep talking about it and wishing hard enough it may eventually come true?

Yeah, they're not selling any of those iPad things.

I understand what you're saying. But you also can't really say that it will definitely be better, as a lot of it is pure opinion. I personally prefer the glass. You prefer the aluminum. To each his own. :)

I would like an Apple TV with better graphics. It has been a few years now, I think it's time.

AMD's Fusion uses ATI 4000/5000 GPU. Expect PS3/360 quality graphics.

So true. And the apple tv is rumored to be hard drive-less. No gaming on that.

Makes sense. But $99 for just streaming, $199 with 160GB could be possible. It might be like Xbox360s pricing model.
