Right, why would they pump money into a redesign for January, when they have to refresh it all again in June? They wouldn't change the release schedule surely, they've just locked people into 24 month contracts - they might be able to expect people to buy put 12 months, but three quarters? Don't think so... Anyway, why even mention CES, Apple wouldn't use a third party event, focussing on the wider technologies to make a huge product announcement. They would also have to come up with a new name for it, they can't call it the iPhone 5, because it wouldn't be an upgrade for the rest of the world, they can't call it the iPhone 4, because there would be far too much confusion, not everyone understands GSM + CDMA. That's another problem. Something else, Chinese New Year is the 3rd Feb, they can't release a product and then not be able to make any because the Chinese population go on holiday...
Anyway, I reckon we'll find out in September, Steve said the bumper offer would extend until end of September, then what? There's obviously something he needs to explain... it's amazing, for a product that supposedly isn't flawed, they seem to be completely reengineering it (whatever happened to 2 years in the test labs? You can claim it might not be a huge difference, it is, they would have to completely reconstruct the primary part of the phone... that's pretty major, not something to be done in 6 months. Maybe they already started development when they realised it wasn't going to work? I would have thought Apple had more sense then to release a flawed product, then update it and upset their loyal fanbase... And why would they have a 3GS (worst), an iPhone 4 (AT&T, flawed), and then iPhone 4CDMA (Verizon, fixed) - why would anyone choose to get an AT&T phone then? Putting customers who don't get good Verizon coverage off.
Just my thought.
