If I sold someone a $400 dollar chainsaw and a Sadly, you have to suck it up and move on. I am unaware of any other company that would allow me to bring in my phone and swap it out on the spot, 8 months into my warranty. That alone is worth it.

Anyways - Apple is a decent company, they have their faults though. However, they are much better than most. The people that are hired at some of their stores, well - leaves a lot to be desired. Sadly, you have to suck it up and move on. I am unaware of any other company that would allow me to bring in my phone and swap it out on the spot, 8 months into my warranty. That alone is worth it.
Stihl is like Apple, they make professional grade products and stand behind them. The trimmer is professional grade and for professional grade, that's cheap. With stihl products, you take care of them, they will last you your entire life. Sure you can buy a poulon for $100 bucks and then buy it again every couple years. In the long run stihl/echo is the best you can get. Research it. :)

It's a top loader that runs like a front, and I don't like front loaders.

Apple is a good company but so are a lot of companies. They have been slipping lately. Their ipads are limited supply. Their ipad cases are so hard to find they are on ebay for 4 times apples prices, camera kit the same situation. Now you have the white iPhone mystery and bumpers that won't ship till July. Quote me, the bumpers will be near impossible to get for a long time after this launch.

Apple is now on par with Microsoft and they are mainstream. They need to step it up and act like it by smoothing out some of these wrinkles that most companies have streamlined.

Me with my stihl farmboss:

Stihl products don't last a lifetime. Contrary to their commercials. Trust me, we have owned a few. Their "pro" products are over kill for home owners. Top loaders will never work like a front loader. :) There is a big difference.

Limited supply is not their fault. They can only make so many. It's also not their fault that there are idiots out there that buy up all the stock they can find causing shortages and selling them on eBay for 10x the price. Apple has no control over that. If they limit supply, people start bitching. Pick your poison. The bumpers for iP4 are a joke. I sure as hell will not be paying $30 for a rubber band. I don't care if it comes in 12 magical colors. That is a pure rip off right there. However, many people will buy them and want them because they are made by - Apple.

To each their own. Apple is better than most. At least they make a quality product.

Like I said on another thread, I called the Apple Store where I reserved and was told "It's first come, first served among those with reservations" I take that to mean they will NOT commit to holding a phone until closing time.

I don't mean to be mean, but I seriously doubt you had stihl chainsaws and trimmers. If you did and they died, you didn't take care of them right. Go on eBay and do a search for stihl 029 that they quit making 15-20 years ago and see how many are selling for high dollar. I have cut down 15 trees and cut up 8 cords of firewood with mine this year and it's top notch. I heat my home with a wood stove. A low end professional grade trimmer is not over kill for an acre of land. The motor is rated for 500 hours compared to 25-50 in a cheap trimmer. Talk to any professional landscaping crew or even government crews you see working the medians, they only use stihl or echo.

Sorry but there is no way that it is that difficult to make iPad cases and camera kits. I personally believe limits their production to keep demand high like nin did with the wii. It's called hype and Apple is king of it.

You can doubt it, but it's true :)

Stihl chainsaw, trimmer and backpack leaf blower. Chainsaw and leaf blower were sold because we never used them (assumed they work still, sold as is). Over kill. The trimmer bit the dust. Guess what, it was a PRO model. Northern tool couldn't revive it either. So we bought a non pro model Stihl trimmer. We will see how long that one lasts. So you trim your entire lawn with the trimmer? If you don't use it like that then yes, it's over kill.

Used to heat the downstairs with a Jotul wood stove. Was nice but not very cost effective and the smell inside the house from burning wood was not fun. It too was sold.

Hype or not - do you expect them to make 2 million units just to please people? What happens if they have overstock and they now lose money because of it? It's not as simple as you think :)

Northern tool doesn't sell stihl so it must have been a while ago. They do like being used. Can't buy a stihl or echo and not run it. Has to be stored without gas and should always use stihl brand oil to mix with gas. Gas needs to be kept fresh as well. Those are just some of the things you can screw up easily by not knowing. If someone didn't tell me, I would have not known and probably done some of the above.

Jotul? How many cords did y'all used to burn a year? You can't beat wood heat. I got every bit of my wood for free from craigslist by going to peoples houses and cutting down trees.

Its not about making 2 million iPad cases it's about making 500k? There are none out there. It's sad. The apple store gets about 3 a week and probably sells a few hundred ipads a week. The local best buy went a month without getting a 3G iPad after selling their launch day stock. Server slow down, site crashes, limited stock, causes hype and more people go nuts for their products. It's a well known strategy that was very well played out by nintendo with the wii. Nintendo even admitted it.

Didn't buy any Stihl stuff from Northern Tool. I just took it there for repair as they said they could do it. The guy tried for hours. I know as I had to endure the wait. I am not about to empty and fill my lawn equipment every time I use them. I just might as well buy a goat and save my sanity.

No idea. It was years ago. Use caution doing what you do (if the tree is still in the air). You can be held liable for damages.

Whatever their methods, it works. It's fine because I am aware of what I am dealing with and don't have any issues. I am a consumer and do have a choice. As with anyone else - they to can choose not to deal with a company if they see fit. Besides, Apple isn't the only place selling iPad/iPhone things.

So you took a BMW to a ford dealership to get it repaired?

My about apple and the way they act now is more in the mindset of WE are lucky to be customers. I did my part and reserved. They want to give my reserved phone to someone else they might as well kiss my money bye bye. Some people may whore themselves for the latest and greatest, I offer to buy it and that's it. That's as far as my obligation as a customer goes.

I wouldn't go that far. :p

Well, you were here just like most everyone else. I am sure you were trying to put in an order as well. How much time did you really waste "offering to buy" and nothing else? ;)

It's ok. You know you like it.

If you took a stihl to northern tool than yeah I would. Northern tool is like a dollar store of hardware store. Don't get me wrong, they have some great stuff, but it's cheap. It's a good place to get things that don't normally last long anyway.

I'll admit the pre order process was excited to the extent of when will apple flip the switch, from there it was pretty painful. I sat in front of a computer for 3 hours trying to get my order in and I got lucky compared to other people.

Good way to explain how I feel if they sell my reserved phone:

lol. It was 7 years old and not working. Was looked at by another person. Why not? If they fix it, they fix it. If not, it would be sold. It was sold. Made $175 off of it.

Three hours? Wow. Sounds more like work than offering to buy it. :)

See, stihl retains it's value. Bling bling!

It was more work than I am willing to do normally. So I understand that as an apple employee, their life will be hell on the 24th but I did my work so try can do more work than me and get paid for it. If they can't match and exceed me, than **** em. Money for someone else.

You've already gone above and beyond your stated threshold. At that point, you are vested. You won't be giving up. You will, in the end - have what you are wanting. Even if you already stated you only offer your money and nothing else.

Bit by bit, you are relenting. :)

That's ok. Happens to the best of them.

I got a husqvarna lawn tractor this year. Now their quality is going down on some of their products cause since they acquired mtd, they are now producing some of husky products. I also heard they are replacing poulon with some low end husky branded version.

I got the $1599 tractor for $1200 btw and a smile. ;)

Just curious, all you yard equipment works right?

Yes, I got the whole backyard cleared out finally but have not cut the grass since it started hitting the high 90s everyday. I'm going into a white guy hibernation till fall.

This thread is so officially derailed now. :p

Ok just called my one and only local apple store to clear up this situation.

1st call: rep: Sorry but we don't write names down on the iPhones. It is possible that if you don't get here on time that we could have an error in our stock and sell yours. It's best to get here at 7am to avoid any "errors". There is a disclaimer at the bottom of your email that says first come first serve sir.

Me: Ok so your saying even though I reserved one, you could sell mine?

Rep: Yeah it's best to get here right at 7am.
#%#%**^#%#{*}€~<_%,}!!!!!!!!!!

2nd call manager: me: Yeah, I was just on the phone with one of your guys and he said there could be an error with my reserve causing my phone to get sold?

Manager: If you reserved and have your confirmation email, we will make sure you are taken care of.
Me: so do you label the phones with the persons name?
Manager: I can't discuss the system we use to maintain our records.
Me: so there is no way an error can happen?
Manager: If you received an email confirmation you will be taken care of and be able to get your phone on the 24th.
Me: I ordered two so I will be fine?
Manager: Very good! * in a I don't give a chit tone* If you received your confirmation emails we will take care of you on the 24th.

At this point I'm a tad pissed. The manager seemed annoyed and rushed through the conversation. He also repeated himself with a sharp tone. I understand that it must be annoying to deal with a ton of customers all day but I waited up all night to reserve my phones and it took 3 hours.

If they sell my phone after I went through the work to reserve one, I'm done with apple. They seem to be getting too cocky lately with their customers. It's not that I have to have my phone, but it's the principal. I'm starting to feel like another number to apple instead of a customer.
I was actually interested in your thread topic and really don't see how this falls in line with it. Not to mention after reading further posts I think you derailed your own thread.

Your Apple Stores sound very bad compared to mine! They give you balls to sit on, ask if you need anything, and help as much as they can. There are about 10 of them all at once at my store though.

I don't think any of us will be able to do activation in the store. Maybe like New York, and the coast, but once it gets to the CST time, AT&T will be overwhelmed completely. I mean, I tried to make a pre-order and couldn't get to the name/address information screen - it was 6/7AM my time (I'm in Dallas). When I pre-ordered at the store at 8PM, it was still VERY sluggish, but I got my confirmation e-mail.

The problem is that when Apple used to stream their keynotes online, it would overwhelm the servers. People were thinking that after the iPhone and iPod Touch and the new Nano that they would come up with something so much better, but they didn't. So, they didn't recoup from that surge of traffic. That is my reasoning behind no more webcasts. I don't think they were expecting so many people to seek out illegal streams of the last WWDC, nor do I think they expected a HUGE demand for a product that only has new additions and pretty much functions like the last three models. The iPad sales were a good number, but I doubt they thought iPhone 4 would match it.

Crazy thing about threads on a forum, you dont like the conversation, you can move along or start your own. Goodluck!
