I doubt it. The AirPods is an accessory. A MacBook Pro is a major update and I think it would require a event.

OR maybe because it’s mostly for the keyboard, they’re too embarrassed to announce the update?
 You people all said the same thing about the AirPods, and were wrong.

The 16" MacBook Pro will get more than enough attention via press release. You people do not understand what Apple does at their events.

This product, with its "finally" keyboard, and its new display, is a big deal for Pro users, but in no way shape or form demands an event.

I do not see them releasing a new form factor without fanfare... a silent update would be a speed bump, a new model def deserve at least a keynote :p
Nah... Macs are Apple’s red headed step-child at this point. Just do a press release. Heck their ‘magical’ AirPods Pro (sounds terrible) got a ‘new’ design and didn’t have a keynote.

Side note... didn’t apple do a product announcement nearly everyday through a week not too long ago?

As a 15” MBP user I can say i don’t think me personally would be able to have anything bigger. The 15” is borderline not comfortably portable.

Exactly. Sometimes I wish I bought the 13" version. Also based on the leaks it seems the 16" will have a wider body than the 15" model. I have 2019 version and honestly I think the keyboard problem is completely fixed. I have heard from my friends in Apple repair centres that they almost have no issues with the new keyboard. I wouldn't be surprised also if Apple uses the same keyboard again.

Yesterday's Airpod's press release went out precisely at 12PM EDT. If they follow the same pattern, exactly two hours to go before we learn what, if anything, gets announced today.

What are you waiting for? ATV already has 4K and HDR support.
probably wanting better cpu/gpu, to be at least in line with current iOS devices and for an improved Apple Arcade experience. more RAM and storage space certainly couldn’t hurt.
I’ve got a Apple TV 4k, and could use a second one but am also holding out for a new model first.

Apple! Stop toying with my emotions! Gone are the days of waiting for a keynote that are more or less predictable. Now we got random stealth releases of new products?!

I’m going to be checking macrumors every day multiple times a day now until this thing releases D:

I'm not sure if they feel there is a need for a new AppleTV since theirs is pretty much 4K / HDR good to go. That said it is entirely possible we see a new AppleTV launch THIS WEEK as part of the "week of new products" that Apple seems to have going to help hype the launch of AppleTV+. *IF* they launch a new AppleTV it will be a high end one, they pretty much signaled they don't want to play in the $50 stick market last week when they launched the AppleTV app for Amazon Firestick.
Last year's iPhone works just as well as this year as well.

I think Apple will either release the 16-inch Pro this week (or sometime in the coming weeks) with a press release (instead of an event), or hold it off until next year.

So Apple could release a 16-inch MBP any time between now and the end of 2020.

The price Apple is going to slam it with is so high they're afraid of being booed at a launch event.

I think if there is going to be an announcement is has to be this week. Once November hits, people are in holiday mode for buying, partying, travelling, etc. And you want to get in front of that.

The announcement of a new 16-inch MacBook Pro brings me two concerns (apart from the price, which may be sky-high):

1. Apple may not willing to make the footprint of the large MacBook Pro any smaller. A laptop benefits from being thin and light, and the footprint of the current 15-inch MacBook Pro is perhaps the smallest Apple could do with a 16-inch model. And it could certainly benefit from being a little bit lighter.

It's because of this stupid obsession with thinness and lightness that Apple laptops now have crappy keyboards, and the ability to easily upgrade/replace parts is gone.

Functionality > thin and light
