I think the 5.0+ will be standard after this year. When more people hold these things in public, eventually it will not be so weird. Then everyone will start getting these larger phones. The longer battery life will another incentive when the masses realize it.

It will always be weird to be carrying such a large thing for luxury. It's the movie Idiocracy happening already. "In the earliest part of the 21st century people were consumed with having the largest phone, celebrity culture, and some idiot named Beyoncé" :D

There will be skits of 10" phones soon making rounds on the comedy circuits.

Honesty the size won't bug me at all...I have had every flagship android phone over the last 4yrs and gave up after the S5. In the end it just came down to Android that i didnt like. I also had the Nokia 1520 which was probably the best phone i ever owned, there were just 2 or 3 things that bothered me about WP8 that made me get rid of it, these things were fixed in WP8.1 but i don't want to switch to Windows Phone to a almost a year old device...So i am waiting patiently to see what the follow up from MS will be to the 1520 and then compare that to the iphone 6+ i will be getting.

Anyway...the Nokia 1520 was HUGE but really thing and felt great in the hand AND it fit in my pockets..If i can fit a 1520 in my pockets easily into relaxed fit jeans i have no idea what some of you guys are talking about not being able to fit a Galaxy S5 or alike sized phone into your pants...Unless your wearing skinny jeans then that's just LOL in itself.

In the end this what i learned though about myself...My phone is always in my hand and rarely in my pants. The only time it will be in my pants is usually when i am working out in the field. Other than that the thing is always in my hands or on a desk.

I don't wear skinny jeans, as I think they're terrible. But I do wear proper fitting "straight fit". Relaxed fit is in the past and pretty bad style. Fitting a 5.5 phone in my proper fitting jeans, wouldn't really happen. And I'm 6' - 170 lbs. Sorry I'm in shape and wear proper fitting clothes. When I hear "relaxed fit" I just hear "lazy, don't care"... which kinda goes in line with a 5.5" phone. And your phone is "always in your hand? Be more active.

Unlike 99.9% of the people posting here, I have actually held and used both phones. Overall I am not impressed by the 6+, and do not believe it holds up the same high quality standard that Apple is known for. IMHO, Apple is really chasing a small market here with an inferior product that will only hurt their high margins across their entire product line. The iPhone 6+ SHOULD have been the 4.7 in. phone, with the regular iPhone 6 being the same 4.0 in. iPhone 5 form factor. Too late for that though.

Cook has been doing an OK job so I really hate to trash him, but there's no way SJ would have released the 6+ as it is today. This could really come back to bite Apple.

I already went to the AT&T store and did the pocket test and usability test on the Note.

It actually caused me to change my mind from a 6 to a 6 plus.

I'm thinking there is gonna be a lot more 6 owners who say "damn I should of got the 6 plus, it's not that bad."

The 6+ has wayyyyy too much bezel for me to consider. Coming from a note 2 to a regular 6, the 6+ has a ridiculous mass apart from the screen. My pockets couldn't handle more then what the note 2 took up. It takes dedication, for that reason there will be virgins of phablets complaining "how big it it".

My pants can handle very big things. A 6+ ain't no thing.

Sorry, was this a thread to compliment your fashion and in-shape body?

I agree 100%.

I've heard the similar argument in real life - and the person saying it is usually overweight and wearing improper fitting clothes. "ohh you wear skinny jeans you can't fit a big phone in your pants" when they don't even know what skinny jeans are and the fact is the opposite of what's being said. It's old and annoying.

Can you elaborate?

If seen some fine bootah with skin tight fitting jeans and a phone somehow stuck back there. But I'd rather it be a smaller phone than a bigger one. Don't want it blocking my view.

September 19, 2014: watch these forums erupt with people complaining the iPhone 6+ is too big, doesn't fit in pockets, not portable enough, or requires a manpurse.

Followed by a chorus of people saying they had no idea how big it was, "don't really need" a 5.5" screen, and regret spending over $800 for a pizza peel that makes them look ridiculous.

It will happen, but those who are actively on this forum claiming it's the best thing since sliced bread won't be dumb enough to express their displeasure.

There will also be 100 threads about light leak, creak sounds, fart smells, poop stains it leaves when you set it down, splinters they got from handling it....etc.

It's always a ridiculous time of year here.

Because Apple has never considered stress testing or even trying out this iPhone 6 Plus, right? They never had a model that failed testing for ergonomics, ease of use, or comfort? Clearly they just mocked this up and released it within a month. Nevermind testing over the years it takes to create these things.

They put this phone out because it passed their tests and people wanted it. 5.5 inch phones exist and are popular.

It's an option.

The "adjustment" argument is the worst one I've heard. Humans, by nature, adjust to most anything. If you suddenly found yourself homeless, it would initially be terrifying and horrible. But as each day passed, you'd slowly adjust more and more. If someone close to you dies, you slowly adjust as each day passes.

Yes, people will adjust to an absurdly large "phone", but that doesn't make it "right" or "better". Just as becoming homeless or losing a loved one is not better, yet, you adjust.

Adjust, my butt. Blah, blah. Means nothing.
Sorry for the strange analogies.

How do you know those people adjust? They probably live in hell right to the end and some don't even make it out alive from that scenario. And we're talking phones here, not something far worse like a damn miscarriage. There are PLENTY people with "absurdly large" phones walking around who have taken to the size increase and refuse to go smaller after. Would you go from a 50inch TV to a 30inch? Doubt it. Bet it felt weird at first when it was the other way around but after a few weeks you actually forgot about having anything smaller? Change is difficult, especially when it comes to a leap like that, but it's not impossible and those of us who want to take it on have faith and true belief it will be better. Just like the rest of the guys who've been living normally and happily with their large crazy phones.

It's a phone. Not cancer, not aids, not being homeless, not being bankrupt or domestic abuse. A singular gadget. Thats got to be the single most ridiculous comparison I've ever heard.

Change is good. It's good FOR you. Besides, you don't like it? Take it back. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. And really, if whether or not your phone fits in your pocket is high on your priority list of things to worry about? You got it pretty sweet in life, my friend. In other words, we've all got it pretty sweet in life, my friends.

I agree 100%.

When I think 6'1" 170lbs... I think skinny. I dont think in shape. When I was 5'10" and weighed 170 lbs I had a 28 inch waist and ripped abs but not nearly as big of muscle as I have right now.. I could only imagine a 6' tall guy being the same weight....and being stretched out.

I'm six foot and 165. It's not too big for me. Bring on the big! My lady says to me "which one did you get?" and I go "I got the big one." She replies "I knew you would."

For the record, I wear shrink to fit 501s most of the time, as if that makes any difference.

Its Christmas for some of us. So craziness is to be expected and is part of the fun.

Im sexually attracted to tall slender guys... I wear fitted clothes also. I also got the big one.;):p

Thats what (man)purses and front pockets are for.

I would have bought the 4" 5 form factor in that scenario. People forget the 6 is also a healthy increase in size for an iPhone. Even if there was no plus it would have been the single biggest increase in size to date. A 5 form factor w/ minimal bezels would be ideal.

You will never get me complaining about "it" being "too big".

When Im going from place to place, I always keep it in my shirt top pocket. It sticks out a bit, but it doesnt bother me (Im a guy, soooooo....). Definitely not for everybody, but I just found what works for me. I always have my phone, but the screen size is my most important thing.

When I drive, I have a holder in my car, that allows me to place my phone there, see the screen, and access it with bluetooth, etc. The screen is VERY large from a driving perspective. And the screen is large enough to access it.

Yeah, shirt pocket wouldn't work for me as I wear t-shirts and sweaters wouldn't want a phone resting against my chest anyway. The holder in the car sounds great, I'm going to look into that.

I'm also looking into belt clip cases and slender wallet cases with straps that would let me sling the case over a shoulder like a light purse and largely forget about it until I need it. I could keep it in such a case and still chuck it in my larger travel purse or backpack.

Yeah, I think this is going to work out really well. And if it doesn't I can't understand why there are people here who would feel smug about it. I'd feel sad if a forum member got something they were really looking forward to and it didn't work out for them--not smug and pleased with myself.

Weird analogies, like I said. But my point remains the same. Humans adjust to any change, regardless. But.. TV's aren't carried in a pocket.

Yeah, many different opinions on that. I am 6 foot (5'11.5", actually)... and I've been as high as 200, and as low as just below 160. It depends on a lot, what is "right" or "too much" or "too little". Everyone is not exactly the same. Weight, also only tells part of the story. Two people can both be 6 foot and 180.. and be in completely different shape. I went down in a weight a lot because I was running on trails 150-200 miles a month.. but yeah, I got too skinny. "In shape" versus "skinny" is a fine line though. Can be both. I might look skinnier, but can also run a 50K through 10,000 feet of elevation change. Many who are "less skinny" wouldn't be able to keep up or even attempt that. "In shape" is relative. But yeah, I'd like some more muscle!
