Freaking e-books is what is missing. I’m still pissed to hell and gone that Apple still hasn’t steamrolled this lucrative, virtually untouched market. Apple makes the hardware and PeanutPress/EReader makes the books that are also sold through iTunes. Not only is it a low bandwidth medium it’s also a foregone conclusion that e-books will take off. Sony just this last week introduced their e-reader. The specs look great. The use of e-ink is OMG cool with the battery life that is virtually months. But the reader itself is fugly with too many buttons, and too “busy. Apple could drop an unmitigated BOMB onto the literature world. Imagine a store as complete as iTMS with books at 4.99 a pop. And anyone who says that e-books suck please do me a favor and actually try one before you crap on the idea. I read e-books on my 4” VGA Pocket PC and it’s a fantastic experience. The only complaint is battery life and size both of which are taken care of with e-ink. Again it pains me to see this market go untouched by Apple. Literature has been the hallmark of civilization since pretty much since cave men drew on their walls. How this could not be counted as a major part of the digital hub I can’t remotely imagine.

I was trying to get through the 24 pages, but WORD on your post. E-books on my PDA are a godsend - I love being able to have a library at my fingertips for lunch, work downtime or when standing in line...just killing time in general. I really hope more titles come out (such as the Harry Potter series, and John Grisham would be good for fluff reading too). I hadn't thought about it, but it would be absolutely awesome for Apple to get in this venue. I almost wish you hadn't mentioned it, now I'm really wishing it!

I can't afford anything new at the moment, but I'm absolutely psyched and excited for tomorrow. :) 11 hours and counting, woo!!!!

Agh. Who needs Google?? Jk, of course. Love Google. Except for that.

Give it time. Google earth took some time as well. Then again what if tomorrow all of Google's content is available via iTunes? Why would you need a stand alone player in the first place.

to be honest, not even a keynote could get me up early tomorrow. I'll just read about it all from Apple after the fact. and drool. and then realize that there was more stuff released than Apple could fit on their 5-pane front page, so I'll go drool some more.

in fact, I think I feel a photoshop coming on...

I'm so stoked to go! This is my first MacWorld. My coworker's girlfriend is a graphic designer at Apple and got us free passes. I'm going to take an extended lunch right after the keynote. Lucky for me, its only a 5 block walk!

You all be jealous.

I feel a "I need my password for Mac rumors so I can log on on my laptop which I rarely use at school tomorrow." coming on.
Not coming in email. Ick. And it's on my old, icky, address.:( :D

Yep. Pretty much. Love the icon/avatar. Awesome.

Goodnight. For real. *yawns*

Since you mention Google... I'd like to see polished, re-skinned, optimized, final release of Google Earth shown tomorrow--as a Universal Binary.

That program is addictive. A couple nights ago I stayed up all night with it... on dialup! Then I couldn't sleep, I kept dreaming of aerial images sloooowly looooading.

Then the next night I couldn't tear myself away from a massive UT2004 Onslaught botmatch. Fool that I am, I didn't set a time limit. I controlled all the nodes and the Leviathan, but the bots still held onto their Alamo for HOURS. Yep--another night of fitful dreams. The same power node endlessly going red and then blue.

Now it's Expo Eve, and if I don't stop reading rumor talk soon, it'll be a third night of insomnia and I'll be thoroughly deranged by the time Steve speaks.

There's a good chance the ibook I am using now will be replaced tomorrow.

Oh and for Windowuser - Windows is good for games and nothing more.

Enjoy the constant anti-virus updates, spyware, adware, and popup problems!

Gaming and 90% of apps and on and on and on.

As far as anti virus software goes, I've only had to manually run it once in 5 years, once heh. It updates automatically and causes me no problems.

As far as the spyware and adware go, again, I've never had a problem... I'm not dumb enough to just go around downloading crap without reason.

Pop ups are not just Windows only and I don't have problems with them either, most modern browsers have built in popup blockers.

I am a content Windows USER. Most of the stuff used as/for anti-windows crap is silly. It's more duh v/s dumbass.

Yah I think its time for bed. Hope Steve'o Claus brings a nice shiny PowerBook tomorrow. Hmmm..... OK heads PowerBooks tomorrow tails not.

I don't really care what comes out tomorrow. My dearly beloved iBook died today in the middle of my first class of the semester, so something is getting bought tomorrow. I just hope the shipping times are not terribly delayed.

What's the over/under on availability? Would it be better to treck up to a store this weekend?

I will be perfectly happy, until I realize that I don't have enough money, if Steve announces a Mac Mini that is faster than my 1.67 17" powerbook. It would be an awesome bonus if there was a dvr built in.

Think of how much money Apple could make if they made the keynote streamed live through the iTMS.
Shhh. Don't give them ideas.

My point is that's REALLLY odd. Just speaks of the "Mac Madness" some Apple users have. I mean, guys aren't staked out of whatever center Bill Gates is speaking.. The pic of him still in his car, then getting out. Just seems really nuts.

Funny thing. I just saw pictures of Bill Gates in basically the same situation. He pulled up in a car(mercedes limo, not the convertible), was photographed sitting in the back seat with the door open, then getting out(chauffeur held the door for him). He was carrying what looked like a happy meal.

So yes, guys are staked out of whatever center Bill Gates is speaking.

BTW the pictures were from ces and were posted on engadget.com. Last week.

Boy those crazy windows users and their "windows madness!" Just seems really nuts ;)
