10:41AM Q: I can't get my Bold to drop right now, maybe you can show me how to do it?
Steve: You may not see it in certain areas.

Love it :D

People better start returning their Iphones or stop the whining. You cant have it both ways.

Sound good. You guys have to relax or buy an Android. Really. What do you want Jobs to sever his own head off in a public forum. Would that satisfy you SICK bstds! hehe.

Ive been using the iphone for a month now and it works fine.

So they aren't going to fix the antenna during manufacturing...and only giving out a free case until the 30th of September...

Hey Android :D

LOL the only thing funnier then seeing the haters flail away are Fandroids somehow thinking this will lead to any substantial increase in Android "phones".

I was scared I jumped the gun on returning my phone too soon, but I'm glad I did now :).

I've had 4 great years with the iphone, but it's time to look elsewhere I guess.. I don't even know where to look since I have had no desire to switch from an iphone until now.

A very sad day for me :(

What are you complaining about again? Go get your other phone... no one cares.

LMAO

"10:41AM Q: I can't get my Bold to drop right now, maybe you can show me how to do it?
Steve: You may not see it in certain areas."

"So the heart of the problem is, smartphones have issues, and we made it easy to exploit the issue by showing people where to hold the phone to cover the antenna."

So now it's our fault??? Without thinking, I accidentally touch this spot ALL of the time when holding the phone. The majority of my calls are all dropped calls.

This couldn't have gone any worse. Blame the industry, blame the user, issue free "hack job" of a fix just becuase you're nice and you expected this to be a win?

Works for me.

They admitted the issue.

Addressed the issue (if you want to call it that) with facts and figures.

Offered solutions.

End of line.

Sorry, but they didn't address the issue at all. This quote sums it up nicely, "So I don't know changing the antenna design would help." Sorry but that's a ******** response. It's the design, fact, hence the case fixes it.

TBH, I really do think its a small percentage of people making a huge fuss. MR is in no way indicative of the general population; while he cites .55% I wouldn't be surprised if this was 1-3%; even still, thats a small number.

Especially considering there's a clear connection between low signal strength and losing signal.

People need to stop sensationalizing this. It's getting annoying.

Calm down, and return your phone if you're that angry. And please, don't post 40 threads about how mad you are in the iPhone forum, no one cares.

******** stat. I haven't called because I know they're not doing **** about it thus far.

so if you and others didnt make yourself heard, how should they know this is a wide range problem?

its like the people who dont vote because they think a single voice would not make a change and then complain 4 years about the politics.

Steve Jobs is full of ****. No other phone I've owned has had a signal drop no matter how you hold it. RIM, Nokia, Motorola and HTC should come out swinging at Apple, this is getting into the territory of slander IMO.
Really? never any problems with signal drop on any other Phone ? NEVER ? REALLY ????

I've bought the white bumper and it's supposed to be coming in Wednesday. I can't decide if I want a refund or if I want to get a second case...

Why are we being give a "case" and not a bumper?

What the hell will this "case" do? except make the phone look ugly.

"Steve: You know, the 3GS has the same problem. We're getting reports from customers that this is better than the 3GS."

What a blatant lie!

The 3GS doesn't lose 20dB when you touch it.

Neither does the iPhone 4. You just have to press hard on a certain spot. That's not touching to me. That's deliberating trying to find a problem.

I really don't see the problem here.

Maybe I'm more mature than most on here (which wouldn't be hard being honest), but Steve has demonstrated that other smartphones by other manufacturers have this issue if you grip them in a way that crushes the signal.

This is not unique to the iPhone 4. That's the first thing. That's the facts of the matter. Go ahead and moan, bitch, complain, cry, take a tantrum, stamp your feet, whatever ... hell, return your phone.

The next thing is that people need to accept that this issue isn't affecting every, single user.

Third, this whole thing HAS been blown out of proportion. As Steve said, it's like "X marks the point". The second it was pointed out you could touch it and make something happen, everyone began trying it.

I still don't know anyone who makes calls holding the phone like that. Deep within your palm, the pad of your thumb keeps the phone away from your face. While browsing the web, as a right handed person, I hold the phone in my left hand in the "death grip", so to use my right hand to navigate the device. While about about in a decent area where signal is strong, there's no drop in bars.

Sky News are being positive about this, bloke from Stuff magazine is on saying the iPhone is a superb device, the Sky presenter is trying to make the bars drop LIVE on television, and they won't. And that's inside a studio.

People will no now doubt quote me, attempt to ridicule me, and I hope you have fun venting, I won't be watching ...

WeegieMac has left the building.

Your avatar suggests you don't own an iPhone 4.

From the engadget coverage ...
So we've worked the last 22 days on this trying to solve the problem. And we think we've gotten to the heart of the problem.

What exactly have they worked on then for 22 days? Changing the bar visually is the only the they have done other then finding excuses why the phone works. Shelling out free cases was the least to be done and it comes 21 days late.

Besides that whole crap about drops less then one call more then the 3GS is total balony without an absolute number to compare to. If the 3GS drops 0.25 calls in 100 then ~1 more is an 400% increase ..

T.

Sorry, but you failed to get to the heart of the problem. I think legally if they acknowledge a design fault they become liable.

Oh stop.... sorry what a dumb statement. Besides, they did say there is a design flaw and it's demonstrable in other phones too. You can't sue over that.

The phone works for goodness sake. The only real issues I've had is the proximity sensor. I'm more concerned about that being fixed than the antenna.

I'm so tired of the whiners here... grow up people. If you don't like it, return your phone... oh that's right... most that are complaining don't even own one!
