0.55% reported the issue to Applecare

ok right...

then what percentage reported to the regular customer care or to apple genius ???

Of course, not many people called. Any type of problem is greatly exaggerated on these forums. There are more people starting threads complaining about problems than there are threads about how perfect/awesome their device is. You never see success stories.

Bottom line... there is a common problem. Live with it. I never held any phone that way, smartphone or not. It's easier to use a phone with only one hand if you don't hold it that way. The only reason to hold it like the death grip is to navigate the screen with the other hand. Think about it.

Apparently, we should beat a dead horse and all call applecare. WTF? WHat were they going to do about it anyway. Stupid statistic.

"In the early days of the iPhone 3GS return rates were 6%... below the average, we were happy with that... so for the iPhone 4? You think half the people must be returning their phones with what you read online... well it's 1.7% -- less than a third of the 3GS returns."

From Engadget

You know they've gone out of their way to somehow make every phone act exactly the same...however I've owned dozens of phones and this has never been a concern for me - never had this number of dropped calls.

If they've sold 3m phones, then 0.55% of that is 16,500 people.

16,500 people calling them within 3 weeks to complain about reception seems like a lot of people.

Screw Apple. That video they played at the start of the conference has done it for me. If that's there attitude, they can bloody well have the phone back.

Clearly there is a problem with the phone. I understand a lot of people like to complain here but feel free to take your head out of the sand on this one.

Now this bit, claiming that 0.55% of owners have called Applecare about the antenna issue.

I have it in certain situations, but to have it "justified" I need to report it to Applecare? I didn't phone Applecare to moan, but that doesn't mean it doesn't happen. Not everyone with the issue will phone Applecare ... FACT.

That's ******** right there from Jobs.

And this.

.55% of 3,000,000 is still over 16 THOUSAND complaints. And like you said, those are just the ones who called Applecare.

I just wonder why Apple would call a press conference if only .55% were having this problem. What about the proximity sensor issue? I think Steve Jobs is in DEEP denial right now.
