God, I hope not. I have taken dumps I was more interested in than tracking my health on a phone or watch.

Exactly. Apple doesn't get it. No one cares about health. Americans have chosen a particular lifestyle and it's none of Apple's business. This will not make people take more stock into their well being. Instead, Apple needs to focus more on real innovation.

Samsung has given us the highly innovative smart scrolling and smart pause and that finger hover thing. Apple? An app that is "designed" to help us take better management over our wellbeing. Yeah. It's obvious who the real innovator is.

we americans aren't the only ones who will use iOS 8... people in other con tries will too... and also... not all americans are obese doughnut guzzlers... thank you very much...

and who wants to hover their finger over their phone? i guess the same old people who are afraid to touch electronics...

Never meant to imply ALL Americans are obese but there is a trend and it's what we've chosen. How dare Apple try to reverse that? It's pretentious to think they can enable people to take control of their own health. Checking our vital signs like we check e-mails? Absurd.

Innovation is Air Gesture. Innovation is watching a video and then stopping once you avert your eyes. These are vital technologies. Health tracking is a gimmick. And many of my fellow forum members seem to be in agreement.

new Apple TV With AppleTV App Store, and more options to be a central component of their smart home strategy???!!!!

yeah, no

I do. you may not and thats fine. i don't give two ***** about my video stopping when i look away, what a useless feature.

The common refrain in this forum suggests a rather muted anticipation when it comes to Apple's health efforts. Without even knowing a single confirmed fact much less actually using it and giving it an genuine shot, Healthbook seems to be dead on arrival for many forum members here.

As for Smart Pause and other Samsung innovations, it actually solves a problem for the end user. How do you stop video playback without touching the touch screen? This is a huge usability improvement for Galaxy users. It's a part of what I like to think of as Samsung's Super Helpful Innovative Technology experience.

idk i mean... it is apple.... they can change how americans consume things...

I would love for it to be the iWatch, but chances are it isn't. I'm really looking forward to utilizing it during my workouts.

Would be a great workout tool if it comes with a set of well fitting bluetooth headphones.

Good points with a faulty end. Samsung has not given us anything. They are a company build on stealing the property of other companies, not just apple. They are the biggest scourge to technology on the planet.

Health apps are DOA. How many people really care enough to track stuff, and out of that group, who many care to track for a longer period of time? Not many.

Nobody seems to be picking up on your sarcasm.

I think you need to put these in your posts

I'd rather not get involved in discussing Samsung's pilfering of ideas but rather that Apple's efforts in revolutionizing health management is a wasted effort. Without any actual knowledge of their efforts I can already say its user interface and cross-device interaction are a big ho hum.

Apple should be working on useful innovations that actual add meaning to our lives. Like widgets, not this health crap. Believe me, the current icon-based Home screen will bore me to death long before any illness does.

Makes no sense for Apple to persuade users to care for their own health and even worse, force yet another useless stock app on ours iPhones.

Anyone else see the 10 second video of a WWDC sound/video check? Where images on the screen showed the iPhone 6? I can't remember where I saw it.... Either way I'm excited for tomorrow!!!

I ask you: is health enough of an important matter that technological innovation should be poured into it in an effort to change people's attitudes about the importance of health and its correlation with quality of life? I say nay.

Maybe I have high blood pressure. Maybe I don't. I most likely do but even so, I don't need some biometric thingamajig to tell me I need to cut back on salt and go for a run every once in a while. I need innovation that's actually going to improve my life.

I'm really, really loving how people can't see your sarcasm. It's fun to watch.

I want to be wrong, but this will be another non event where Apple will introduce some mediocre incremental advance and hype it up. Then we will all hope that the most amazing pipeline ever is still going to happen, just later in the year. We can only do this cycle so many times.

Apple is stagnating. It is still great, but better ideas are coming from elsewhere and they are copying. They used to copy the basic idea and destroy the competition with an insight that blew everyone else away. Those days are gone.

I am not only referring to major products here either, but also to smaller revolutions.

Man, for some of you people, it's like this is your first time following MacRumors before a WWDC.

1) They always have some covered banners. These are hanging from the ceiling. Nobody can just peek underneath. The covers will be removed right after the keynote.
2) It's not the iPhone. Just no. It's not. Forget about it. Not the iPhone.
3) These will cover some of the big ideas announced during the Keynote. Probably Healthbook. Maybe this crazy home automation thing, but maybe not. Maybe Beats. Generally these will be about OS X and iOS features and we usually know about them ahead of time.
4) Likely the only hardware worthy enough to be touted on these covered banners would be the iWatch, but the iWatch isn't expected to be revealed at WWDC this year so it will very likely all just be software or services.

Is it possible that geeks hanging out on technology rumor websites all day aren't the target demographic for healthbook? Maybe there are some jocks out there? Or older people with illnesses? Maybe MacRumors isn't the most representative sample of the human population?

Look, I got nothing against geeks. I'm a geek and proud. But our kind of people aren't usually the sort who work out a lot. We also tend to be a lot younger and maybe don't have a lot of serious medical conditions (yet ;)).

I personally do work out, and I like to know what my heartrate is when I'm working out. I don't need an Apple device for that, but if an Apple device I'd be wearing anyway wants to monitor that information too, and over time, and some developer comes out with a cool app that can somehow add value to my workouts using that data, I wouldn't turn it down. I won't turn down any new sensor Apple cares to add. Heck, I'd be interested in a neutrino sensor if they could get one working on such a small scale.

I imagine there are people who are a lot more serious about vital sign monitoring for various reasons and would really embrace Apple's efforts. I have an imagination, and can empathize with people different than me, so I can understand why Apple might want to capture that market. If you can't, and this technology is useless to you, just don't use it.
