I think it's an Apple TV with Apps able to drive 4k TV sets. :D

4K TVs are such a massive waste of money. The TV manufacturing industry has got to a point where they can't justify massive price tags - they need gimmicks.

3D hasn't taken off (no surprise) so they've moved to 4K. 4K works great in a cinema when the screen is 500 inches across, on a 40 inch screen it's completely useless and an utter waste of money.

The massive majority of people can't even see the difference between 720 and 1080.

I cannot agree with this. If you have ever seen a movie in 4k there is a massive difference even on a 50" screen. I just have to assume you have only seen them in stores. I agree about 720 vs 1080p, but 1080p versus native 4k material is shocking different. Seeing Elysium in 4k is truly jaw dropping.

I've not seen it in stores.

4K acquisition I can understand, but for the average viewer in the average living room, 4K display is pointless. Unless it is the viewer's intention to sit just a few feet from the display.

The only real-world advantage to a 4K TV is that you can either sit just a few feet away from your TV or you can buy a huge TV that takes-up most of your living room wall. I don't know about anyone else, but I certainly don't plan on doing either of these.

Again. You need to see it. That myth about distance has been debunked.

Never. You didn't understand apples approach. Updates of existing products are always announced with availability within approximately 2 weeks. Otherwise no one would buy the current version anymore. The Mac Pro was a different story but this will never ever happen with the one and only number one product iPhone.

Keep in mind the original iPhone was like my suggestion.
