100%. Their attitude, along with people that use Apple products that act like they're on a higher plane of existence, is something I cannot stand. Mainly attitudes towards people that choose to use Android, Windows or Linux. Or people that choose to use a combination.

Honestly, I do think he is trying to simply just be funny, but I already know people, like my co-worker, who will take this to heart saying things like "yea he is right. People need to just let the 90s go and embrace what Apple is pushing us towards." I cannot stand that mindset.

I agree. Nobody can stand that mindset; well, unless they also have that mindset.

I shot around 85gigs of footage one day recently with a client (that wasn't a lot either). Would been real nice to take that SD card and plug it into an ipad to review and copy off footage to the external drive for the client to walk with. But apparently that workflow is 'stuck in the 90s' and somehow magical wireless is supposed to take care of that amount of data out in the field. Sure we did it with a macbook pro, but it's overkill for that and an Ipad would be perfect for that use.
Actually, that workflow is largely a sneaker net workflow and is a product of the 90s. The camera makers have done a very poor job of working/solving/improving the workflow of images after capture.

Apple arrogant design and this arrogant attitude is what turns off so many people away from Apple.
The way Apple neglect and ignore users needs is pathetic. It took them 6 years to acknowledge they made a huge mistake with the trashcan.

Someone tell Craig F that
The Mac Pro trashcan was not that great.
The Macbook Pro (2016+) was not that good either.

Someone tell Craig F. that Surface Tablets can run full Windows OS, and has better file management
while iPad Pros only runs iOS and file management is pretty bad.

Is that why Aperture was discontinued, because it was sooo 2000’s?
No, because it was a niche market that becomes smaller and smaller each year. Apple saw it first and pivoted. Keeping it competitive against Adobe and Phase One in a shrinking market would require increasing resources with decreasing revenue.

This arrogant attitude is what turns off so many people to the point that they don't even want to touch such many great Apple products.

It was a JOKE for chrissake. Get a grip. At least Apple recognized there is still a significant use-case to adding external drives to iPads, and is acknowledging it is long overdue.

The arrogance is from posters like you who think you are entitled to tell Apple to do whatever you want and expect them to jump.

Wow Some folks here need to relax an chill;););)

As added USB support, Will we see an update for port security option like while list for connection or even a better erase/wip control after failed password attempts???:rolleyes::rolleyes: :apple::apple::apple:

In the 90s we shot on film/tape and had to wait for a transfer. The card workflow is godsend but I don't blame camera manufactures for not inventing some magical wireless that beams the footage at unheard of data rates from the camera anywhere in the world to a hard drive without fail when a simple cheap and highly reliable SD card will do.

My friend says the same thing as you. He has 12 TB of hard drives. I asked him is your stuff also backed up and what happens when a drive breaks? I have had many drives fail especially in tropical places. So over the years one by one his drives will fail and he will lose his content.

There's an easy solution to that: backing up. I have about 24 TB of stuff on external drives, half of that is the actual data I use, and the other half is the backup.

Now imagine storing 12TB in the cloud, and having to wait hours or days each time you want to access it, vs. just working directly off of it if it were on local hard drives. And not to mention having to pay for it forever, with the threat that if you ever stop paying, all your data will be deleted. No such risk with hard drives.

I think the cloud is great for calendars and email, and light stuff that needs to be synced across multiple devices. But for storing massive libraries of files? What's the point? It's just going to be too slow to be of any use. Even for a backup, it's too damn slow.

But it shows a certain arrogance (sorry "courage") not uncommon with Apple in its hardware and software choices.

Only an idiot puts anything important on only one drive.

Yes that's my point there are a lot of idiots out there doing just that. Thank you for clarifying my original point.

I didn’t indicate that they made zero improvements and I didn’t imply magical wireless capabilities.

But if you don’t think the camera makers have failed at workflow post-capture then great. It works for you because you accommodated yourself to what they allow. I, for one, would enjoy having more than a 8.3 file name with only the first 4 chars being customized, being able to annotate/tag events and destinations in camera, having files transmit automatically once connected (wires or otherwise) to a computer with it performing various tasks as needed, etc.

I understand that solution. I just noticed how many people think because they are using a back up drive their stuff is backed up. I often ridicule my friend for being so tech illiterate.

I don’t disagree with your point, but Apple is hardly suffering for low sales and income. One of the wealthiest companies in the world means LOTS of people are willing “touching” great Apple products. Most companies only dream of their success.

Arrogance and uppityness is also by users of none Apple products as well. Most of my Windows friends are EXTREMELY arrogant about their choice for using Windows. Their comments usually run “oh, you use Apple products, WEEELL, do you not know there is Apple then the rest of the world!”? From there they their attitudes goes downhill in a very condescending snippety manner. A few friends use Android, they behave the same, most often I hear “Hah, I never would drink the Apple Kool-Aid, something is wrong with you and your Apple cult”, and the like.

What I have often witnessed is a Windows person negatively comment on Apple then when Apple user attempts to explain their reason for using Apple products, the Windows users quickly get their panties in a wad. Never have I seen nor heard a Apple user belittle a Windows user (as Windows users belittle Apple users) for using Windows.

The cloud isn't safe either, and your cloud data should be backed up also.

A few years back, my whole iTunes Match library disappeared, all songs I purchased and ones that I collected over many years. I had a back up of almost every song, but called Apple Support to find out what happened.

They were able to get me all the songs I purchased of course, but said there was nothing they could do about my iCloud Library, and said that Apple is not responsible to lost data on their cloud services.

Even with having a back up of external drives, it would still be cheaper than Apple's cloud storage, which a smart person would still back up.

Sadly, I think he is too arrogant to understand why people wanted it... AirDrop? LOL...That's not the point!

This is part of what's wrong with Apple the last 5 years or so. They are so arrogant and don't listen to what the people who use there products want and need to use them the way they want to. Case in point, though to a much lesser importance, 12 versions of iOS before they finally changed the volume control display.

Nothing wrong with features as long as decent amount of people want to use it and external drives is a no brainer should have.
