I don't get why people are so unhappy, the touch bar is first time they release this technology and is still has ways to go for full potential, the Mac is nice but yes very pricey...I'm not upgrading now but will continue watching where it goes from there.

To the people pointing out that finger print was on PCs long before, I used Dell and Lenovo with them and can never get them to work without hoops through softwares and drivers. Dell business support couldn't even get it to work and gave up.

For the exception of the OLED, I see this as a downgrade in almost every way.

I make videos for a living - and storage is a huge issue for me. Apple continues to force us into the cloud (which is not a solution for video makers).

(Even worse, I am typing this on a new MacBook with f*cking stuck keys from day one. Every month, I visit the Genius Bar. And every time, they claim no one else has this problem. I want to punch them in the mouth when I hear this. Because the person two seats away from me had the exact same problem. The fix is Apple has to ship my laptop to a repair center... that is 3 to 5 days without my work computer.)

With that said, Apple software is (for the most part) better than the rest - so I remain committed to it.

I just looked at the Hackintosh.com site...

Can anyone tell us what the downsides of a Hackintosh is?

Is it considered stealing?

Is it not as safe as an Apple machine?

I am sad to be typing this. I cannot believe how far Apple has plunged - even before Steve Job's death.

The problem I have with it is that is it faster to reach across the the laptop for a short cut or just use your fingers on your keyboard. I'm a video editor so I have all my shortcuts memorized and use many in succession. Reaching over the keyboard repeatedly isn't good ergonomics and I can't see that it would be faster in my use. Hmmm. Although its nice to see what the shortcut options are.

It was completely odd that emojis were highlighted for a Macbook PRO product. Simply distracted from the lack of professional aspects of the machine

That alone defeats the purpose and design/UI of the messenger apps on screen. They were trying to emulate the iOS emojis on the touch bar which disturbs me. Completely dumbed down.

And yet people were reaching over and sideways to use a mouse for 30 years? Now all you use is a straight line reach of half an inch?

Surface book is portable and has a touch screen? What's your point. "Touch bar being a good alternative for my Wacom tablet ???" I stayed with apple because I despise windows. Maybe I should give windows 10 another try.

Sorry my fault. I've misinterpreted your text and thought you would prefer a Wacom tablet.
I don't know if I would like a touch screen on my notebook. I think my hands should rest and that's not possible while touching on a screen.

yes...remember YOUR WIFE still using a 13" macbook air from 2011 (probably an 1600$ laptop for that time). My friends razer from 3 years ago is by bye battery and the screen has some blurry colours now
$1300 actually, the only issue with it is the battery lasts like 2 hours. I can replace that rather easily.

The difference: I don't have to take my eyes off the screen to use a mouse. I have to take my eyes off the screen to use the Touch Bar.

I do the same. Keep eyes on the screen when reaching for the mouse. Sometimes the mouse doesn't work though, and when I look over I'm actually pushing my phone around the desk like a moron.

I hope everyone who hates these new Macs buys something else. Put your money where your mouth is. You want Apple to change? Stop buying their stuff then.

I fail to see much difference between apple's touch id from FJ biometrics pre-2010, and/or their current biometrics (they use biometrics SINCE pre-2010)...but I'll be open minded and let you enlighten me on the differences of the biometrics technology, not the application of it by each company...

Fujitsu doesn't even use Fingerprint anymore. They now have PalmVein ID which scans your plan veins in a fraction of a second which is way more secure than fingerprint and cannot be faked easily.

Yes it has potential, but it has also the possibility to ruin the mac experience. Imagine if apps will put banners, ads in there.

Will be wonderful to work, then see a colorful flashing banner under your screen...

I don't think even Apple are convinced of the Touch Bar judging by comments such as" marks a beginning... of a very interesting direction", "big, big step forward", "create many things to come," some of which "we can't envision yet." create "new innovations" in the Mac line.

All vague wishy-washy marketing BS.

Sounds like a case of throwing some sh*t and seeing what sticks. Then perhaps if sales are good, more products with the touch bar feature.

I saw that article and when he ( bold quotes above ) said that, that made me question their ability to ENVISION things ahead in advance. Does this mean they have NO plan or cannot think of anything else to do with the Touch Bar? It's almost as if he's saying " Oh, we came up with this thing so we're gonna go along for the ride and see what happens since we've no idea what comes up for the next 3 years or so. It was the best we could think of. So yeah we got caught off guard by this Microsoft announcement and we're jealous that we should've done that ".

Craig needs to stay away from Cook and Phil. He seems like a sincere guy who cares about the company but it's like he's being forced to go along with the program and bear it.

People tend to moan about new features and call them gimmicks until they actually try them, at which point they'll quietly forget about what they said and start calling the next new feature a gimmick, until they actually try it, at which point they'll quietly forget about what they said and start calling the next new feature a gimmick....

Round and round we go.

yeahh, i hate the ports. I have an iphone, but i would not be able to connect it to the new mac directly. This is just dumb. Also, the next iPhone would have a lighting to usbC cable.

Best way to use this new mac is with a docking machine. and this is what we get in 2016, pretty disappointed.
They dont have anyone pushing them anymore. Thats the problem.

I feel Cook has taken on a more ambassador type of role. Trying to carry on the Apple that Steve Jobs rebuilt, but not someone who can uphold his strict practise himself

Based on this summary, Apple is not allowed to use poorly implemented technology in future products to make it better? That's utterly stupid.

Microsoft have only announced he concept or Surface Studio, no one has actually seen or used it as yet. Like the two screen courier concept they came out with a few years back, it looked great in the animated demo but never materialised as anything. Microsoft have a habit of announcing products and not backing it up with substance.

Correct. It never materialised because their operating systems are not able to combine as iOS and macOS can do.

We have Fanboys to thank for this. They're the one who purchase every products Apple comes out with, encouraging them to come up with ridiculous update like this. It appears to me that Apple no longer care about Pro and Prosumers. I'm very disappointed with the direction they took with FCP. Apple computer sucks but I still like the iPhone (I'm on 5s and I will upgrade to 7 soon).
