@arn re: the posts from @kryten2 @Weaselboy @iTom17 and @mobilehaathi

Probably not relevant to the recent incidents (backend server timeout and so on), but Sucuri dialogues featured in a December 2014 incident, https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/1833295/ where potentially malicious code was blocked.
You Sir are a God. When looking at the thread you mentioned and seeing that the code tags can cause this issue I tried without them and it worked. This is the line that's causing the error :

lf=$'\n';for f in *.txt;do filename=$(basename "$f" .txt); sed -i.backup "1s/^/${filename} \\$lf\\$lf/" "${f}"; echo Done ${filename};done

Could this be the reason for why I was logged in as @Meister on Monday?

I wrote a PM to a mod at 1.22 CET on Tuesday (approx. 7.22 PM EST and included @arn in the conversation, but so far no reply from neither the mod nor Arn. (I'm posting here in lack of a reply on the PM.)

A screenshot was included in the PM.

Sending messages to the mod staff for site problems isn't the best way to address them. Its better to either start or reply to an existing S&FF thread, like this one, or send in a contact message.

These FAQ's may be helpful in understanding how to contact staff for various reasons.

How do I contact the moderators and administrators?

When sending a contact message, it's normal to receive a reply in about week or so, depending on the volunteer admins time and schedules.
Many Contact messages are answered within one working day, but depending on the issue and how much discussion or research is needed, it can take up to a week. We have more moderators than administrators and since the administrators also manage the site and forum system you may need to be patient. We reply to almost every Contact message but we ignore spam, ads, and extremely rude messages. Some answers take research, another reason for patience. For problems that require quick action or routine forum moderation, use the Report Post icon

Well, I wanted to give MacRumors the possibility to respond to a possible security problem by not going public as the source could be exploitable. Posting in the forums publicly wouldn't be a good solution.

The contact message will only stall and won't finish. So I'm not able to use it as the message isn't sent. I tried this the first time, and I tried to do it again 30 minutes ago.

I checked on this and we did receive your contact message, despite your browser stalling out. I'll ask the admins to look into that too.

That doesn't sound good.

Are you sure you were logged in as me? could see my email adress, pms and other personal stuff?

I could see you e-mail address, but I didn't read any PMs or anything else. That would be the wrong thing to do in a situation like this.

Edit: I'm not able to send you a PM for some reason, so I can't send you the screenshot.

Follow me and I'll follow you back.
Maybe that's why you can't pm.

Thank you for bringing this to attention!

Stil can't start a conversation with you. Just a message saying I can't start a conversation with you.

There is no personal info on the screenshot except your display name and avatar.

The issue is probably related to a caching plugin we had active for WWDC.

Obviously it shouldn't cache logged in user info, but clearly that seems it might have happened. Probably also related to a secondary layer we turned on due to a possible ddos attack last week. We turned both systems off a couple of days ago.

This is not my account. But I'm not sure why I can see this. Please advise. Sorry I wasn't sure where I should post this.

Is anyone else experiencing the the flashing of the box where you type up your post and the spinning multiple color wheel and the red box with an up and down white arrow that flashes? I logged onto a different form that I'm visit to see if I have the same problems that I have here on MR and I didn't experience those same problems.

Thank you any help will be appreciated.

I've had a lot of the same today to.

Tonight (and earlier today) I noticed that if I clicked on an alert, the system would sometimes freeze, stall, and then, sometimes crash.

If I clicked on a 'like' or comment, to one of my posts (as a short cut of getting to that thread to comment), likewise, a freeze, stall, or crash.

Clicking on a a like - of someone else's post - often led to a similar result, a freeze, stall, or - crash. Actually, I found that I often had to disconnect the internet connection, and return when I had reconnected.

Posting proved problematic, too. Sometimes, after pressing 'send' the familiar freeze, stall would happen; then, a double post (immediate remedial action would be taken by me) would appear.

I have to say that I am seriously thinking of completely disabling the 'alert' function; yes, it is very useful. But it is also a source of massive instability and frustration at times.

Today, (July 18) I have to say that the forums seem to have been very slow, and subject to freezing, hanging, stalling, and seizing up. Double posting (because the forum freezes, and you click 'post' again thinking that the post hasn't been posted) is also a bit of an issue.

In fact, at times, it has been hard to even get access to the forum.

In order to post, or to open a post, I have had to turn off the internet on a few occasions (which seem to act like an electric shock). As I have just had to do, writing and editing this post.

The alerts are the worst; any time any sort of alert is flashed up, or, any time I wish to carry out an action (such as click on the 'like' button), the system seems to freeze and stall.

Still bad? Been okay here this evening on both OSX and iOS?

I've not been on very much (what would be this afternoon for me), but the times I have been online, the performance and stability has been great.
