What’s the downside for T-Mobile? I’m trying to see what the catch is, if any. Would I have to wait 40 days to unlock it with T-Mobile? I have an unlocked 12 pro to trade it but I noticed they don’t have an unlocked option on the trade in screen.
I think you have to be running the phone on a Tmo plan for 60 days before you can unlock it.

So I decided to go with BestBuy for the iPhone upgrade. Had all kinds of trouble ordering through their app/website. Would never receive the verification text messages. Was told to go to the store. Same problem but store was
able to get me a code sent to my email.

I’m trading in my paid off iPhone 12 Pro Max (128gb) Silver for the 13 Pro Max (128gb) Sierra Blue pickup on 9/24.

Couldn’t believe how good of a deal this was. You all should definently give BestBuy a look.
so wait, you only paid $147, which includes the trade in of your 12 Pro Max. are you bound by a contract?

My iPhone 12 PM 128GB was paid off, Verizon unlocked but switched to T-Mobile few months after I bought it at Verizon. No contract here. No bill credits to deal with. It’ll be fully paid off. That’s what makes this BestBuy deal awesome. If your phone isn’t paid off/locked it may not work out too great.

I have my 128gb Pro max arriving friday from apple but ill be returning it to do this deal instead. It will be somewhat sad to not have my phone on launch (don't want to open it since I'll be returning it). I've ordered the 256gb Pro Max from best buy.

So with Best Buy I'll be getting a 256gb for $170 cheaper than the 128gb from Apple! Excellent deal.

mines paid off, but i always thought best buy only did deals locked, where you have to committ to phone carrier??

Thanks OP, I used this method to purchase a 13PM 256 in blue for the Mrs. Total was around $224 plus taxes. She doesn't care that it's locked to TMobile. Apparently it'll be ready on the 28th Sept lol.

She can request it be unlocked after 40 days of use on the T-Mobile network, making it the exact same phone as an unlocked model you'd buy from Apple.

On paper perhaps We'll see if I have the stomach to go through this for educational purposes, Apple retail flex locked iPhones can be a biatch to unlock from TMobile even after 4o days.

Just to confirm…. I’m on Verizon

I have a 256 11PM… if I opt to pay for the 256gb 13 PMflat out… will I get the $1000 trade in up front or on the back in with bill credits?

Thanks to this thread, I got $560 for going with Best Buy and trading in my 2-year old, no frills, base-model, Plain Jane, boring black iPhone 11 64GB. That is insane! $460 trade-in, plus $100 Best Buy instant discount.

A deal so good it not only convinced me to upgrade, but to splurge on the 13 Pro. That‘s how they getcha!

Thank you OP and everyone else! Just put my order in at my local store. 128gb 12P trading to 128gb 13P for $99. Much better than the 36 months of credits from ATT

In the terms and conditions it says "unactivated unlocked phones will receive value in the form of a Best Buy gift card". What do they mean by unactivated? I purchased my phone unlocked from Apple, but have been using it with TMobile. So would I get the gift card, or the monies applied to a new phone?

I think as long as you currently have a provider/service on the current phone it should be applied directly to the purchase. When you go to the trade-in screen there are only options for the 4 providers, not an unlocked phone. I'm guessing this was something that was implemented to avoid people buying phones for cheaper than the trade-in value, not activating them and "profiting" the difference or as a protection from accepting blacklisted phones that were stolen

Has anyone redeemed this offer and gotten the $1000 off the full retail price up front for Verizon?

I can’t figure out how to do it online. I’m only getting the standard Best Buy trade-in values.

I just did this deal. Traded in my iphone 11 pro max 256gb green. I got $615 for it. Went for a 13 pro max 128gb.

AFter tax and fees, came out to be around $445. Not bad for the latest top of the line iphone model.

I thought about going iphone 13 but I no longer upgrade yearly. I think I'll keep the 13 pro max and upgrade at 15.

It seems like the 'S' iphones (since some consider the 13 just the 12s line) to be minor but a solid improvement to new features.

Worked out about the same difference after I sold my iPhone 12pm then ordered directly from Apple, bonus being it won't be a locked iPhone on the US reseller flex policy.
How much did you sell your phone for if you don’t mine me asking. I have a 12 pro max 128

So this flex policy thing, does this mean there’s a chance it will be permanently locked to T-Mobile with no chance of unlocking through T-Mobile?

So, I was not planning on buying the iPhone 13 pro Max, but this post convinced me 😂. I sell my phone every year for about $800 and then use the funds to upgrade and pay in full. This year I didn’t feel like going through the hassle to sell my phone for a minor upgrade (IMO), but Best Buy offering $775 for my phone is a pretty good deal. So preorder has been submitted. I’ll probably get my phone in November, but oh well 😂

So, you don't plan on buying the new iPhone next year? That's my problem, I don't wanna be locked in an installment plan. I hope they do a better upgrade to the iPhone next year and then I'll upgrade my phone.
With Verizon you only have to keep the line, not the phone. So you can buy the iPhone 14 next year and just swap out the SIM card. At least that’s what I’ve done in the past.

Does anyone know when the promotion ends? In the fine print it says 9/17-9/23 but that’s before the phones are even released so it seems kind of odd. I wanted to grab a 128g silver pro max which they currently don’t have either. So not sure what my options are at this point. I wasn’t originally going to upgrade which is why I’m late to the game.
