The crease isn’t the issue.

It’s the soft plastic screen that is going to get wrecked by your finger nail or small bits of dust/debris.

Sorry but I ain’t paying even more money for a phone that is going to be ruined so easily. But hey at least you can just buy AppleCare…

I’ll stick to boring old iPhones with solid glass that I can put a glass screen protector on.
Point well taken… inner screen will be plastic as glass does not bend or fold. Will the plastic inner screen deliver the quality picture we are all used to???

I can appreciate that viewpoint, though for me the battery is a consumable,
Oh, I described it poorly. I if I only had one device, I'd be charging it often to make sure I'd have a phone during an emergency. The iPad allows me to charge my rarely used iPhone once a day to replenish the 10% battery I used that day.

This is one of the most overlooked problems with the foldable products. The internal screen cover lacks any durability because it needs to be flexible enough to fold.

I would honestly be more likely to get a foldable if it had hard glass screens and as tiny of bezel as possible between the screens.

There is foldable glass.

There's also all the hinge issues. These are the most flimsy phones on the market, and they are also the most expensive to repair.

Gotcha, of course all our use cases are different, my iPhone it typically 70+% at end of day and if I were to add the about 2 hrs (or less) of daily iPad usage I'd still be way ok, but that is just me

I don't think they can get rid of the crease hardware wise. There has to be some kind of software solution to make it less visible.
Software has nothing to do with the crease. The only reason there is a slight crease on some of the most recent flagship foldables is there is no hardware underneath the center of the display for support due to the hinge. They will have to develop some type of hardware built into the hinge that will support the middle of the display when the phone is unfolded.

To me it's both the plastic and the crease that are showstoppers. The most magical thing to me about the very first iPhone was the responsive glass touchscreen. I have never used a screen protector because I've never found one that feels as good as the iPhone display (I've never broken one either), and I don't expect a plastic display to come anywhere close to what we have now.
The core of the inner display on any flagship foldable is not plastic, it is ultra-thin glass. The plastic on the inner display you would be feeling out of the box is a screen protector they put on them, and I remove that on day one, on every Z Fold, Flip, and Pixel Fold I have owned. I prefer the feel the inner display without the plastic screen protector on it.

My Original Google fold is still going strong and isn't "Plagued" by permanent creases, it's unnoticeable when viewing media or browsing the web etc. .... typical apple

Apple might casually call it the iPhone Fold internally, but it's definitely not going to be released under that name.
I suggest: iBook Ultra

The inner screen is not plastic, it is made of ultra-thin glass. This info is readily available online.

Liquid Metal? Great, now we can expect Liquid Ass to use the camera to apply over-the-top reflections to it's clutter.

More seriously, maybe this; https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liquidmetal

For people who want a foldable phone, it's a good to have model options. Maybe Apple could consider also making a plain single screen mini version of the standard pro.

Not believe until we see it suprise us apple with use MacOS touchscreen style instead hybrid iOS and iPadOS

EXtreme cost is an issue, and those weird, squishy, plastic screens.

Being Apple, you neva know. Should be fun come iPhone time next year. Liven up this forum.

I can see the billboards already........
