Eraserhead.

I'll second that.

Wild at Heart is another great cult flick... just about anything by Lynch would qualify.

For those who like offbeat, obscure cinema, I'd highly recommend anything by Werner Herzog (most recently directed "The Grizzly Man" documentary), particularly a gem from 1972 called "Aguirre, Wrath of God" and "My Best Fiend" (1999), which is Herzog's documentary about his tumultuous relationship with the late Klaus Kinski (German actor notorious for his ungodly temper). Amazing stuff.

Wow, lots of good titles.

I have so many favorite movies:
Akira (more Pop culture than anything in America, and those who saw the original (before it was re-dubbed/subbed) truely appreciate it).
Fight Club
Battle Royale
Blade Runner
Sid & Nancy (although the whole story is practically BS)
Leon the Professional
Another State of Mind
and SEVEN just to name a few (which some have already been mentioned)

How about La Femme Nikita? Certainly not huge here in the US, though it was remade into a Hollywood piece of ****.

Well...Clockwork Orange ;)

For me Clockwork Orange was only cult when it was banned! I had a friend who was sacked for organising a "secret" screening at a London cinema some years back. The distributers took her & the cinema to court!

Then a couple of years later it was back on release!

nothing but nazi sexploitation

...so of course Le Lunghe Notti Della Gestapo (a.k.a. The Red Nights of the Gestapo)

Run, Lola, Run (must watch it in German with subtitles. dubbed movies suck)
Romeo is Bleeding (may be too mainstream to be cult)
Frankenhooker

That was a pretty fun movie.

She ends up in the Bourne movie w/ Matt Damon, right?
