yellow is wrong. Harold and Maude was a great film! Especially if your a Cat Stevens, oops! I mean Yousef Islam fan.
exactly. In fact, that movie turned me onto his music (im 16 so he was kinda not really in much circulation in my years :) )

Damn hippies. Get a haircut.

Strange Days doesn't have the cult aura, but it ought to. I love that movie. Angela Bassett kicks glorious ass in that movie. And Ralph Fiennes isn't doing his usual uptight icy dude schtick.

Dogma.

The Crow.

Dead Ringer, the Jeremy Irons flick about twin insane gyno's.

Not my favorite but I'm surprised it wasn't listed (although I do like it a lot):

Donnie Darko

Most of my list have already been listed:
Clerks
The Brat Pack Flicks
Buckaroo Banzai (If there is a better way to do end credits in a movie, I haven't see it)
Kids (I only list it just because it will make your heart darker than any horror flick ever could)

And Harold & Maude was great. If you want to check out another harsh Hal Ashby film, see The Last Detail.

Good call - was kind of shy of suggesting this, but I love it nonetheless.

On a similar note, has anyone seen 'Secretary'?

Out of the shadow of Star Wars came Roger Korman's Battle Beyond The Stars, an intergalactic remake of the Magnificent 7 western.:D

Battle Beyond The Stars (1980)
Wow, not the movie I thought you were talking about. This one was kinda cool.

The one I am thinking of was a little later down the line and it involved the aliens planting video games here on earth so they could recruit new pilots for their war. cheesy story line, mediocre special effects.. Can anyone help out here?

Ditto here. Didn't care much for Cat Stevens before Harold and Maude. Been quite an enthusiast ever since.

You know, I used to love that movie and then recently it was on HDNet Movies and I watched for the first time in ages.. and realized just how bad it was.

oh man Buckaroo Banzai is a good one...such classic lines like "It's John BigBoo-TAY!" and someone yelling "It's Buckaroo Banzai!" every five minutes...it's too bad it tanked and they didn't make a sequel, although I'm not sure where he would go after handling the 8th dimension.

Great thread, my Netflix queue has now tripled. :)
here's one more for you...now it isn't a cult film in any means, just a must see documentary entitled "The End of Suburbia". It is a must see and an eye opener at the realities being overlooked over society's future. I watched it a few days ago and really has stuck with me.

The 1983 film Joysticks, a comedy about the video game arcades of pre 1985 days. Very nostalgic and if anyone can find a pic of this film (VHS, DVD cassette cover artwork etc) on the net I take my hat off to you.;)

Anyone mentioned Streets of Fire or Big Trouble in Little China yet?

Two of my guilty pleasures. Either you can wallow in them or you can't, there isn't much in between.

Very good choice. I love that one.

Remember the first time I saw it I sat for about 20 minutes thinking: "This is the biggest piece of **** film I've ever seen...", then I got it and nearly wet myself laughing for the rest of the film... :D

Still laughing whenever I see it...

"My name in Inigo Montoya. you killed my father. Prepare to die."

"Inconceivable."
"I do not think it means what you think it means."

A classic flick.

I'm going to go with Fight Club. It had a great cast and was based off a wonderful book, but when it was released in theaters, it was only slightly better than a dud.

But if you ask nearly any person (guys in particular) if they have seen Fight Club, the answer is almost always "yes". And most guys, and a few of my girlfriends, absolutely love it. I've seen it no fewer than 15 times, and still love it.
