If all you use the mbp for is to email, web surf, maybe some light photo editing, iTunes and watching the occasional movie, is it really necessary to wait for the refreshed mbp's? Seems like the current model will more than suffice for that type of stuff. I'm tired of Windows OS and all the anti-virus stuff you have to run, it makes the PC not very snappy.

necessary? No. But the current MBPs are overpriced for what you're getting. The current models are nice, but if you wait a bit you can get something nicer for the same amount of money. It is more economical to wait for the refresh.

You're right. But there are also people like me that use RAM and CPU-intensive software for audio recording and video and photo processing/editing. Every incremental boost in processing power is gladly welcomed.

My MBP is 28 months old and an upgrade from the 150GB stock hard drive to a 500GB one would be fantastic. I have ~100 gigs of space devoted to software I use on a daily basis, and not having to carry around a firewire drive in my bag would be great.

I suppose the same could be said of all prior models. :)

Seems like you would benefit from an iMac since you are a heavy user, although you obviously need/appreciate the mobility of a laptop, even though you "ask" a lot from it. :)

Hey, how long do you have to be on MacRumors before you are no longer a macrumors newbie?? Is it length of time, x number of posts, what?

Someone should go into the live chat and say,"Yeah I order a mbp but I thought it came with a c2d processor, this thing says Core i5. Has there been some mistake?", And see what happens. :D

I guess I wasn't the only one pestering the live sales chat. Last night I confirmed that there was NOT a delay in shipping MBP's if I were to order one. I assumed they'd have them in stock even if other stores (Best Buy) were out... but figured, what the heck I'd ask anyway. yeah, there wasn't a shipping delay coming from Apple which wasn't a surprise. Don't you wish you had your 30 seconds back that you invested reading this message? :D
