What are these "things" you speak of?

Just things like Universities selling MBPs at more discounted prices, amazon running out of stock, more strange things in BBY's system, next week is the last tuesday in February, and just the fact that if Apple waits any longer this will be the longest time it has taken them to refresh the MBP.

All in all, it may all mean nothing. But either way, it HAS to be soon. If it takes till may or june then something is seriously going wrong at Apple.

I agree with you on this, even though I am new to the Apple front, their technology is to old to be competitive now.:D

I know that apple always gives some kind of educational discount. You can get at least a $100 discount on most MB/MBPs if you can associate yourself with a college/university. I am not sure about the imacs. I wish they would give a deeper discount considering how expensive they are.

I meant beyond the typical educational discount.

I've heard stories of two different Universities offering a MORE discounted price on MBPs in the last week. I can't recall which two they are... but someone mentioned them either on this thread or a different "MBP refresh" thread

Come to papa...

Now, instead of making stupid comments like I just did, we should be speculating on what's being updated.

- processor is a given, but which one in which machine?
- better SD slot that where the card doesn't stick out
- IPS screen?
- external optical drive (my personal favorite)
- ...

I like all your options. IPS screen would really be great, but moving the SuperDrive to an external enclosure would free-up another drive bay. I would really like to have a 2 HD option, or more specifically an SSD and an HD 2-drive option.

I dont know if this means anything but I received an email from amazon trying to get me to buy the MBA Rev C for 1600 new, and 1500 refurbished. Could this mean they are trying to get rid of stock, and we may see a MBP and MBA update at same time? Can't wait to go to the dark side!

This could mean retailers are actively trying to clear out stock in the wake of updated MacBook Pros—not completely sure, but it’s a possibility at least. If we start to hear this from additional retailers we’ll definitely know something new is coming. Oh, and based on your critical thinking/detective skills I have a feeling you’ll fit right in here on the dark side! ;)

Been using a Mac since 2001 and I’ve never even been tempted to switch back—ever.

The longer I wait, the more I want a MB.
Any possibility of the MB getting refreshed with the MBP? I realize that the MB is mid-cycle, but that is just according to the average. I noticed that on a couple of occasions the MB was updated after 3-4 months and released the same day as a MBP update. Like I said, the waiting is making me lean toward a whitebook, but if there is a chance that those could be updated (soon) as well, than I'm just going to lose it:eek:

Harvard currently offers the 13" MBP for 1049 and the 15 MBP for 1499, a savings of 150 and 200, respectively. At store.apple.com, the 15 MBP educational discount brings the computer to 1599.

exactly, it's stories like this that give me hope that the wait is nearly over.

Hello all

This is my first post in this forum.

I have been a long time Mac user. I also live in the city in China where Macbooks are produced. Production of the new Core i7 Macbook Pro has stopped because the current design of the Macbook Pro is not suited for the new processor. Heat and battery problems. I can upload photos if you want. Factory has stated that it will start production again once Apple sends in new drafts of the product. Estimated March to April release.

Peace

i don't think that's true..
what do you think???

The TDP of the i3/5/7 is higher than the core 2 duo so it's conceivable that Apple have had trouble with this. Shame if it's true as it could mean quite a delay:(.

Cheers,

I don't think Apple isn't that stupid... they must know it's higher then the C2D before they start produce it..

True, i don´t think Apple starts the Production Line before ironing out those issues. In my opinion that´s a fake rumor. But let´s see, he has stated that he´ll post pics to proof it.

I'm following an Multimedia Design education and i want to buy the new MBP.
Is it necessary to buy a MBP with two graphic cards? ( im using Adobe CS4 a lot!, and a little little bit video editing)

thx!

Every week when Tuesday rolls around, people start saying, "It will be this Tuesday, it has to be". So far no ones been right.

But if we keep saying it, we can only be wrong 51 times. :)

I agree as well. Apple is going to notice their sales go down significantly if they do not update their hardware very soon. At this point, they are the last major company to offer arrandale.
