Nothing ever could compare currys to elite

I completely agree.

They align themselves with other high street "Full RRP" retailers, such as John Lewis.

The huge difference is that if you go into John Lewis/Waitrose and ask where something is, the staff member will stop what they're doing and show you to the item.

The dreggs in Currys/PCW will just look at you as if you're speaking another language and point in you in a general direction.

John Lewis understand that you can still sell at full RRP in this day and age, as people are still willing to pay for great customer service (no one understands that more than Apple), but C/PCW want to sell at full RRP and offer cheap, ****** service.

In the stores with Apple departments the staff are employed by Apple UK so will be fully trained to deal with the Watch.

I don't think k you're right about that at all.

No offence to you personally, but I just think you're mistaken.

Apple & C/CPW are polar opposites when it comes to the service experience, those folks will definitely be C/PCW's own staff and no way Apple's.

Remember John Browett from Dixons (C/PCW's parent company), who went to head up Apple Retail?

There can't have been a single person in the UK that though that was anything resembling a good idea.

It was also no surprise he was out of Apple in about 6 months.

Like I said, polar opposites.

Just bought a router from Currys 3 weeks ago that was faulty. Customer support said "because it works even for just a bit we can't refund you because you have used it". I got my money yesterday, never going again. I paid £5 more for the sake of if it breaks i can return it to a store too.

Geez, you live in the UK, we've got one of, if not the best, consumer protection laws in the world - just demand your money back, if it's faulty you can get your money back at any time, and even if it's not you have 7 days to return it even if it's working perfectly and you've used it - knowing your rights is half the battle, don't get ripped off again

Currys used used to have a large section dedicated to Apple computers and accessories until around 3 years ago. They didn't sell well as guess what? It's Called PC world/Currys! So they have taken all the huge expensive Apple logos, gear, and entire section out and replaced it with Printers and ink. They sell more of these and make more profit. If Apple and PC word seriously think they will sell these watches there then good luck.

It makes you wonder how Apple can supply all these watches to 3rd parties? Mmm not selling so have huge stock to get rid off? Next we may see them at the local market being sold by a man in a trench coat.. He opens up his coat to show you a selection of Apple watches at knock of prices.

Other way round mate, at least in my local store. The Apple section is alive and kicking with the latest stuff.

EDIT: I should clarify, the PC World store not the Currys store.

You don't have any "7 day right", unless you bought the item online, in which case you can return it (unused & opened only for inspection) under the Distance Selling Regulations.

The experience described by the poster saying they wouldn't give him/her their money back is simply typical of C/PCW and their staff, who don't know their arse from the elbow and couldn't give a hoot about your 3 week old product that's faulty.

I can remember at least two other Apple products with the same "been too long" issue:
• Mac Pro
• Mac mini
...this site has exploded a couple of times, trust me!

No doubt.
MacPro, I was one of the angered ones. :)
Now I am looking for an update on that to handle the 5K displays. I hope with Skylake that will come.

I'm not mistaken as I've got to know the Apple guy in my local Currys store. He works for Apple, he has told me he works for Apple and his business card confirms it. He was previously based in the Best Buy store across the road and when they went bust Apple transferred him to the Currys store.

I'm not doubting you Olly, I just can't believe Apple have a staff member in C/PCW.

The card may look like he works for Apple, but I just don't buy that he's a full blown Apple UK employee (more made to look that way, to give C/PCW some credibility).

It's only in the bigger stores with Apple concessions but he definitely works for Apple.

If you still don't believe me, read this...
PC World are going to be rolling out Apple Concessions into their stores that are in locations outside of the catchment area of Apples own stores. The difference in this compared to PC World’s normal Apple product displays is that they are going to be manned by Apple employees instead of PC World staff. These “Lone Rangers” are going to be masters of their own space within the PC World stores. Their role “bring new customers to the Apple brand and increase the sale of computers to users who currently do not own a Macintosh computer and first time personal computer buyers”.

Mind you, when the Surface Pro 3 launched, Microsoft had a sales person at my PC World employed by Microsoft. Not only did he own an iPhone, he was also pretty uninspiring. Better than the normal PCW staff but not as good as an Apple Store employee.

I seem to have deleted the bit where I said I got a refund in store yesterday, but customer support on the phone said I wouldn't because it did technically work.

If it broke after you used it for a short time, it's possible to argue that it broke because of a manufacturing defect that was present when it was sold to you, hence you are covered.

Another vote for not buying a watch from them. Any time there has been a good deal (off HUKD) I do click and collect and they still go and pick it off the shop floor. I remember the 4G mifi I picked up dirt cheap was the most painful experience - took over an hour to register up for the 30d 4G PAYG SIM...

Hi guys/girls,

As someone who works at a CurrysPCWorld Megastore, I can confirm that we do indeed have a dedicated Apple Shop-in-Shop run by an Apple employee.

The layout of our Apple department are in line with Apples strict guidelines.

I personally work as a Mac buddy and as a result have to be ASTO compliant.

I was personally chosen by our Apple colleague to help run our Apple department (along with a select few other colleagues) so you can be rest assured that I'm not a complete numpty!

Our Apple colleague is also subject to a mystery shop every quarter.

I can't speak on behalf of other stores but in my store well over half our computing department are Mac users/enthusiasts.

As a result our Apple share of business is very high.

Lots of customers have been asking about the Apple Watch and they get disappointed when we don't have any to sell to them.

"Do you want an extended warranty with that? Do you want an extended warranty with that? Do you want an extended warranty with that? Do you want an extended warranty with that? Do you want an extended warranty with that? .................."

I literally handed back the £100 purchase I was about to make because the assistant followed me across the floor pestering me about extended warranties, and wouldn't leave me alone even though I'd firmly explained I wasn't interested the first time she mentioned it.

I also walked out leaving a cable at the till because I'd casually mentioned it was a business purchase and they insisted their business team sign me up before selling it to me. Shocking customer service.

It's this sort of thing that made us despair at the appointment of Browett at Apple.

But that's the thing, that's what they do at Apple Stores. That's what they've ALWAYS done at Apple Stores

Since the beginning I can remember a specialist (either shyly or way too confidently) bugging me about AppleCare and MobileMe and One to One...trying to convince me I run a business to sign up with their "business team" and it's all to make some kind of brainless retail number

Maybe the Apple Store kids have a little more tact and will back down easier, but that process you described just sounded so identical to an Apple Store I figured I'd chime in. The Apple Store is just as Best Buy as the rest of them...
