Why are people queueing up for the new iPhones? Everyone says they're not worth upgrading to because the improvements are quite minor and there's no 5G. Besides, I thought people stopped buying iPhones because they're too boring and had no innovation. Not even one iPhone can be folded. Hey, people, buy your iPhone online and avoid the lines.

sarcasm aside alot of them will probably flip it online. even if its a minor upgrade its still a new iphone and therefore the culture of buying the new iphone is still in play

The people queuing up in Singapore are likely buying them to resell in their own countries, since Singapore is the only ASEAN country to get iPhones on launch day.

i expect more people to get them directly from their carriers, as we still have 2-year phone contracts in use.

So why the hell are people doing this?
Seriously, why?
waiting in line for days just makes absolutely no sense.
So stupid...
Congrats on wasting around 1-2 days for your new phone, which everybody else got at the same time as you.
sad people
They’re enthusiasts with something in common enjoying something unique together. That’s not too hard to understand if you care to. I remember playing hooky from school and waiting in line around the block all day when Return of the Jedi came out. The waiting in line and the anticipation of the payoff was half the fun. This is no different. Only the most jaded can’t see that camping out with buddies and striking up chats with like-minded folk is a good time and a future memory, regardless of what you’re waiting for. “It’s not logical so therefore it’s deplorable.” Are you all Vulcans?? Have you never once done something a little crazy just for the heck of it? No? How sad.

No one ever mentions Raising Cane’s, but they should. Best chicken I have ever had. The locations around me almost always have lines and those lines often go out the door even.

Never even heard of it nor seen one but there's one close by. Noted down for my chicken run and checking out the 11 hype tomorrow.

Why? I just pre-ordered from the Apple app and have an in-store reservation at 9AM

I see two possibilities, a) they got too late into pre-order and the availability slipped or b) they want to see the colour options first before deciding.

Either way, no guarantee of stock at all.

Im not able to order for in store pickup. The app says to visit an Apple store on the 20th for pickup.

Fools! Apple warmed up that notch design very last time and phone with all new without notch is coming next year. Buy that and hold it for three years until the next big redesign comes.

You’re absolutely right, if the only thing to care about in an entire iPhone is whether or not it has a notch. Even if you lost yours and need a new one, avoiding a notch is far more important. And if you differ from vtrautia, that makes you a fool. Thank you for sharing your enlightenment. Well done.

I will NEVER understand this.

I stood in line for hours for the very first iPhone. Maybe the second as well.

However, once online preordering began, I never opted to do this again.

So why the hell are people doing this?

Those iPhone 11s were in abundant supply 8 hours into preorder day. I know as I ordered mine 8 hours in and having it delivered tomorrow.

The only line waiting I am going to be doing is at UPS in the morning. I am always first on line and never have to wait more than an hour.

PS: I have lousy UPS delivery. I don't get deliveries until 7-8pm. So, I don't mind picking up at my UPS center 10 hours earlier.
You don't need to understand. You don't need to worry about others..but yourself.

popeyes for sure, they already beat KFC in thighs and breasts. i always group chik-fil-a with bible thumping folks who my parents hang out with every sunday. Mcdonald, depends on which location, the best one for odd, reasons, i went to is in southhamptons.
What does bible thumping folks have anything to do with how a chicken sandwich tastes?

I understand the tradition, but that was when Apple released completely new products you want to get your hands on not spec bumps. Also standing in line was when Apple didn't produce enough products and they were running out. Today the mammoth company ships world wide enough products within 2 weeks with different colour availability.

It's fun waiting in line for something everyone is excited about. The last time I did this was for the Wii and funny enough, there were only 6 of us in line since many thought it would flop but we had a great time chatting about how cool we thought the system will be.

(Then the next day the world learned how fun the system was and the Wiis sold out everywhere.)
