So you can lose $100 (and you're just as dependent on a little plastic card as someone is with their phone) and get tracked. A little toy avoids both.

I never use my debit card and only use my credit cards. I've been frauded once with my Amex. One phone call they wipe out all the fraud charges. New card sent. Done.

Inconvenience!? Maybe a bit but Amex is accepted nearly everywhere i go.

Apple-merica is just angry because it didn't even get up to speed with Chip and PIN... which has been out in Europe FOR YEARS. Now they're DOUBLY angry because their pet brand has announced a way to line it's own coffers per transaction... AHEM - "revolutionise" payments - and the retailers are sceptical. Guess who loses revenue when the system goes wrong? Not the consumer. Can you BLAME them? Grow up, entitled generation - you all need sending off to an Amish boot camp to teach you about REAL LIFE AND VALUES.

Exactly, not all cvs customers have iPhones. This other system will work eith every smart phone.

I wonder when you're going to make sense to anyone outside your head.

They blocked Google Wallet too. Apple + Google is 95% of the phone NFC ecosystem. I wouldn't be surprised if it blocked any other smart phone NFC too. Everything worked, it was all intercompatible.

It's their business they can do whatever they want. It's like I open a store selling products and I don't want to accept Amex but you come in with your Amex demanding service. WTF. GTFO!

I guess you have never had your CC skimmed or Debit card replaced because you shopped one time at Home Depot or Target. I have. It is extremely inconvenient to not to be able to do the weekly shopping because someone stole your CC number or debit card was compromised. Before you say use a checkbook, I don't have checks anymore.

My new card comes delivered overnight shipping from Amex. It's not a long wait.

VISA and mastercard ARE both forcing retailers to adopt Apple pay. They are charging stores less processing fee per transaction when payments are through Apple pay. However, it looks like the fraction of percent fee savings isn't enough to sway these companies.

Said who? Visa nor mastercard have approached us yet?

take your money from MCX and go away.... seriously, you are being a jerk.

There is little reason to assume that the MCX system will be less secure. It also uses a form of tokenization, although it's cloud- rather than device-based. It will allow the merchants to easily track and datamine your purchases though.

Plus you need to submit your SSN and drivers license number to add an account to CurrentC. Yeah. Who wants to do that?

Seriously, not every business wants to be assimilated into the Apple collective.

I guess you haven't had your credit card information stolen? I guess you haven't used a credit card at the handful of companies that have had their credit card processing systems compromised?

If you look at how Apple Pay works, it provides security for your credit card information. Instead of passing your credit card number, name, and security code through a companies systems, you pass a 5 digit code and security code. This GREATLY reduces the possibly of your information being stolen. Not to mentioned the information on your phone being encrypted along with fingerprint authorization.

I am also not willing to load an app for EACH business I use to purchase merchandise. And since these companies who have had their systems compromised, it is obvious they didn't take security serious. And are you willing to put your credit card into an app for a company that doesn't take security serious?

If Apple pay is THAT good, can I use it ANYWHERE? Without an iPhone 6(+)? No? So I have to pay £600+ for a phone, just to enable myself for a transaction payment for... £1.57?

Yeah... I can see that makes sense. How about Apple make a payment system that DOESN'T involve selling their hardware, for existing phones? Thought not.

Hey - Apple - how about changing Apple pay to work when the device battery IS DEAD? Not impossible - you'd just need a tiny backup battery (or solar power) with a mini payment OS in firmware, which talks to the TouchID sensor and secure element.

Come on - rev up that "creative engine" guys :D

This is bad for Apple, they will have to prove themselves or Apple Pay will be thwarted deliberately. They shouldn't need to disable payment to compete. These are unfair tactics.
In 10 years when their competing mobile payment system is a total flop and they know they can increase revenue by 15% if they enable Apple Pay and NFC, they'll come around. Meanwhile we just have to shop at their competitors that accept NFC.

you guys are all butt hurt because they don't use apple pay. I'm just curious how did you pay for stuff before apple pay was around? stop acting like its the end of the world, its not.

While I do think it's ridiculous that CVS & Rite Aid are blocking Apple Pay for absolutely no reason, for anyone here to think that it's going to have financial repercussions for the companies is absurd. With the exception of a few of us tech geeks on this forum, nobody is going to choose Walgreens over CVS based solely on Apple Pay.
Oh, there's a reason. They want to harvest your acct details in their corporate cloud to create a repository for hackers to exploit, ApplePay prevents this. They've intentionally and maliciously turned on their customers.

LOL.... aren't you so privileged ..... most CC cards and debit cards take 7-10 days...

Get another card company. Its in the cc company's best interest to replace your cc as fast as possible. It's not self entitlement it's the benefits of using an Amex card. Sucks for you though.

you know what is funny? is that every phone before the 6 there were long threads constantly bitching about the lack of NFC.... now we get long threads about it only being available on the 6...... talk about needing to get a life...

No, but you could use any android phone with NFC and Google Pay. That is until they started disabling NFC readers.
But if you want a pretty secure private (private from Apple only) then yeah, you have to get an iPhone. Just becaue it's only available on iPhone doesn't mean it's not "THAT good." It's appearently good enough to spook this consortium that CVS belongs to.

What is to prevent Apple and Google from rejecting the currentC app :D ?

This!

I have been using Google wallet for years. I have a 6 now and find the layout and choice of card easier. However, shutting down NFC entirely is utter BS.

Exactly. Search this entire forum and you find hundreds of threads about not needing nfc. How it is stupid. How it sucks. Now it's the holy Grail. I won't shop at xyz if my nfc Apple phone isn't suported. Total Apple bypocrites zombie like attitude. Self entitled iPhone owners as well.

The way consumers make purchases in the US will not change for years. We will all get chip and pin cards next year, and guess what, that will be the way the vast majority will pay for years to come.

Perhaps so, but I hate carrying my wallet. If my driver's license, insurance cards, and credit cards were all considered acceptable by authorities on my iPhone, that is where I would put it. I rarely ever carry cash, so my wallet is just for carrying those three things.

Would have to think about accidents and such to where authorities would be able to pull up your ID without having access to your other phone data. I would think that would be an easy thing to implement.

As to the stores refusing Apple Pay, I don't use Apple Pay, but I don't like those tactics. I for one will not shop at a store that purposely disables it. Reminds me of the days of major merchants taking MC over Visa, etc.

Damn right butt hurt. I'm totally bringing my butt hurt to another store. I don't want CVS have my card number for hackers to steal.

I don't use AMEX to due issues I had with AMEX. Plus not everyone take AMEX due to the higher fees paid by merchant. As for my bank and credit union, I like them... they have done well by me ( and I have used other banks but I have gone back to these two).
