Its a start! I'm glad they did. I like Supernatural although it's getting a little long in the tooth. Add ABC, NBC, I could ditch hulu Plus. LOL Someone strikes up a deal with AMC and they are GOLD.

IMO, a la carte programming SHOULD be the way of the future. Individual channel apps that are subscribed to or bought so we get only the programming we want.

Yeah that's not going to happen any time soon. Networks earn far too much from subscriber base numbers to give that up and the revenue it pulls in would only be replaced by high priced apps.

Not forgetting that the main networks also own a lot of cable channels and they use that leverage to sell them as a package to MSOs. So if you bought one they would expect you to subsidize the others too.

OK, great, now buy netflix and we're set.

No thanks. I can watch Netflix on almost every device I own, no matter what brand it is. I don't want it locked down to an Apple box.

Especially one that is pitifully limited compared to the majority out there.

The CW does have some good shows. Nikita, Arrow, Supernatural and they are bringing back Who's Line Is It Anyway.

It's a start and hopefully bigger networks will follow. The CW is partially owned by CBS so they could follow if The CW app is successful.

Arrow is the best show on CW for those that are not females who read YA novels and like sparkly vampires. Probably the best action/adventure show on networks right now.

Supernatural is a shadow of what it once was but as the only remaining holdover from The WB it doesn't include the usual teen romance that fills the rest of CW shows.

Hey, The Vampire Diaries is an amazing show—it's not even in the same ballpark as Twilight. I'm a 29-year-old guy and I watch TVD religiously.

Arrow is also a great show. The finale was great.

Beauty and the Beast started off a bit weak but I'm looking forward to the improvements next season.

I'm also looking forward to the new upcoming shows:

  • The Originals
  • The Tomorrow People
  • Reign
  • The 100
  • Star Crossed

I'd eventually like to start watching Supernatural and maybe Nikita.

I really need to get an AppleTV…

The only shows I watch from cw are supernatural and hart of dixie. Other than that the other shows are for 12 year girls.

Hm, good point. I think of it more as, if Apple doesn't buy Netflix, MS (or someone else) might, and I swear if Netflix suffers the same fate as Skype, I'll devote 100% of my video viewing hours to that pile of dusty old books on my nightstand instead.

On 2nd thought, maybe that's for the best...

Too bad most shows on tv suck anyways (along with mainstream music since 08-09, movies-hit or miss, politics, sports is ok but not as exciting as before and technology-no new innovation).

Smallville was the best show on CW and hopefully a movie is made with the same cast in the near future.

Beauty and the Beast main cast includes Kristin Kreuk from Smallville but that seems like a girl show. Arrow I would've watched if Green Arrow was Justin Hartley from Smallville- not the current random dude.

Anyways, Smallville had one of the best tv intros ever:

AppleTV sucks, especially outside the USA. iPlayer, 4od, Lovefilm, ITV services can be found on any number of junky products. Why not Apple's?

I think "the coming weeks" screams WWDC. I hope this is finally a sign of either Apple opening an App Store on the Apple TV or at least them starting to work with networks and other content providers to put their content on the Apple TV.

Aft this announcement I don't think an App Store will come to the Apple TV with iOS 7 but actually sooner.

I could see an App Store opening up at WWDC or soon after with a limited set of apps that Apple has been working with networks to create (and The CW has just jumped the announcement gun).

All of this is probably just wishful thinking on my part though. :p

ooooh I will love me some ARROW :)

Supernatural is getting old but i cannot stop a show ive been watching for the last 8 years lol

nice...Apple struck a deal with the red-headed stepchild of the cable networks.

You realise that CW is a joint-owned venture between CBS and Warner Brothers, right? I'm pretty sure having a working relationship between two of the biggest media names is a good thing (not to mention the fact that CW is popular in the teens and 18-35 market).

Some people only see the trees, not the forest.

This is the same way Apple started with the iPhone. No carrier wanted a phone without their name on it, and their controlling of the software. Apple had to go with AT&T.

This is similar. Apple is starting with CW. Eventually, other networks will join. This is a GOOD thing. Just because it doesn't fit your little world view doesn't mean something good isn't starting to happen.

Now work on getting more apps please.

Pandora, Spotify, Rdio, MOG, CBS, ABC, HBOGo, NBC, are just a few that come to mind.

It is ridiculous that Apple does not have some apps like Pandora. Perhaps it is a licensing issue as the x-box does not have them either. At least the x-box has a browser so I can go to pandora's website.

I'd love it if a Last.fm app came to Apple TV (or, even, if Apple just bought Last.fm from CBS and integrated it into iTunes).

The killer feature of The Apple TV is AirPlay.

If this CW thing works out, maybe CBS won't be so skittish about putting its own network shows on :apple:tv. Mike & Molly is my not-so-guilty pleasure.

But the one network I would really like to see on :apple:tv: AMC. With that, I could "cut the cable cord" and not worry about missing The Walking Dead.
