I'm playing it on a 2019 gaming laptop, with a RTX 2060 super equipped egpu and its struggling to maintain mid 30 FPS. an older Mac Pro with an old GPU would not be recommended.
It turns out to actually run pretty well at 1440p/high-ish settings for me, the big problem was the older processor’s lack of AVX support causing a crash that requires hex-editing the executable to fix.

[2] -Fun facts regarding CyberPunk2077:

* “Approximately 8 million pre-orders prior to December 10 release.”

* “In total, 59 per cent of pre-orders were on PC and 41 per cent were on console (Stadia is counted as PC for this). 74 per cent of pre-orders were for digital versions.”

Anyways, so after reading all about Cyberpunk these past few days, if you own a base PS4 and Standard Xbox one (The X Box One X seems to perform fine from what I’m hearing), it is suggested to wait for further improvements

I don’t necessarily think this game was ‘rushed’ (Especially with all the delays and origins of this project started in 2010) , I think it probably wasn’t ready as much as they had hoped, but the pressure was on to have the game released after so many subsequent delays. I’m sure if CDPR really wanted to, they could have delayed the game further, but it was also noted that there wouldn’t be any further delays after the ‘November 10’ announcement that they needed another month.

As much as the team will be successful ‘long-term’, I definitely don’t think this was a very good launch, especially when you look at the big players like Naughty dog and Rockstar in terms of RPG’s, who generally are very good at what they do, and I think this doesn’t reflect poorly on CDPR, but it’s not the ‘glowing look’ they probably were hoping for.

Just finished act 1. The quest to end the act was awesome. I’m now sitting on 25 side quests.

Ultimately the ambitions of the game exceeds the capabilities of the base previous gen console.

No amount of patches or several months additional delays wild make the can run smoothly on an Xbox One.

This is the most detailed open world game they i have played. In the opening segment for the Nomad life pad, there is a garage.

Everything inside it is super detailed. Tools are genuine 3D objects rather than lazy bitmaps/jpegs. In the city I was talking vertically up stairs but could in the very far distance see cars driving. The draw distance is just insane and few textures are lazily repeated.

The only way to give the base consoles a bump in performance is to allow users to drastically reduce NPCs and cars.

Aside from the Xbox Series X, have you heard any feedback how Cyberpunk plays on the Xbox One X? I know the base Xbox one is having some issues, but I haven’t heard too much feedback about the Xbox One X. Some people are confusing the performance issues between the base Xbox One and Xbox One X.

Just hit my first problem.

The 1.04 patch auto installed this evening. It's 15GB and too an hour to install.

Afterwards the game doesn't start because I apparently haven't inserted Dics 1. I can't be bothered uninstalling and reinstalling but will play AC Origins instead to night.

Hopefully the issue will get fixed quickly.

The game plays acceptably on the One X and PS4 Pro.

Isn't the play disc disc #2? Are you saying it didn't work after you put disc 1 back in?

I restarted the game, I found I really messed up on how I set up my character, learning more about the game, I opted to res-spec by way of just starting over since I didn't get too far down the pipeline of act 1.

I'm feeling better about the game, but the promises and expectations of a large open world to interact doesn't quite align with reality. I guess I had an expectation of something like skyrim, where everywhere you turn around there's people to interact with, side quests galore. That's on me, not the game, but I think pre-ordering is something I need to avoid and let real players start providing feedback.

The Metacritic user score hasn't been too kind, particularly on the consoles, the first is PC, the second is PS4 and the third is Xbox one

Steam on the other has a score that's almost 78 but I think it is more telling is the nearly 1 million players currently in the game. While the game has some backlash and lots of complaints particularly on the legacy consoles, its still a wildly popular game (at least on the PC).

I was so confused on how to upgrade myself to be a netrunner. I was having a really hard time with it because my powers seemed weak. I completely forgot there was a store where you could buy netrunner upgrades.

The game finally works again and I am happy to be back in night city. :D

I have switched between Normal and Hard difficulty setting and can say the following:

Normal: Great if you like rushing enemies and going guns blazing at every opportunity.

You will take damage but can survive challenges without dying.

Hard: You will likely die in a shoot out with 3-4 netrunners. Shotguns or powerful weapons are necessary to take them out quickly. Rifles are simply not good enough.

More importantly, you have to use stealth kills and cyberware to defeat or sneak past some enemies. Some missions will be best completed with lots and lots of RAM e.g possibly left for later in the game.

Basically you have to use your brain mores and think carefully about how you use perks and the skill trees that you choose to pursue.

My recommendation is probably to use the first run of the game as a tutorial. Play at normal settings and use the scanner alot.

Furthermore, don't be afraid of spoilers but read articles/watch videos about tips on how to play the game.

I just casually remote played the Brain Dance mission on the iPad while my kids were playing.

This game is so awesome and will continue to delight in the most unexpected ways.

It Won’t let me toggle between ‘normal and hard’, that part of the menu is ‘grayed out’. Perhaps you have to pass a certain part of the game. [Which I’m talking past the prologue.]

I admit, I’ve actually referenced quite a few Reddit threads on some tips/tricks, I generally don’t like doing that and goes against my method of gaming, but this game is so diverse, you almost have to. I can see why there’s so much finite detail involved, but you just have to watch out for the trolls intentionally divulging too much information.

Two things I've learned that were helpful for me:
  1. You can go into the crafting menu and upgrade a weapon you like so you can keep using it effectively for longer.
  2. There are TWO pages of upgrades for each section. For example, "cool" has two tabs of upgrades you can switch between.

Whelp, it’s wasn’t hear-say after all, Sony is issuing refunds for ‘performance issues’ with Cyberpunk. [W/attached stipulations.]

I know it’s primarily affecting the standard Xbox one and base PS4 users, but this is really embarrassing for CDPR. Obviously they optimized this game to be more influenced by latest GEN tech with the PS4 Pro/XB1X and of course the newly released consoles w/o the latest patch.

I don’t necessarily think that the hype is unwarranted for this type of game, because there’s a ridiculous amount of content here that could easily occupy one user for a minimum of ~300 hours if they wanted to, but I think this launch is an absolute embarrassment and maybe possibly even misleading in some respects for those own older/dated consoles. The stark reality is, I think CDPR is a very reputable developer and easily contends with the likes of Rockstar and Naughty Dog, but there’s no way they could be proud of this launch given the pre-orders were high, but the satisfaction rate is suffering below the threshold they were hoping for.

I know there will be future patches that ultimately will rectify a lot of these problems, but it really does make you wonder, if CP2077 was ready for a ‘prime-time’ after all these delays.

My judgment is still reserved, because I have so much content to explorer and tons of other titles to complete on both of my consoles, but it’s just ‘not a good look’ no matter how dice it. These developers worked very hard and they deserve their bonuses, but there’s a lot of work that has yet to be done.

You can toggle between difficult setting but when you do so, you have to restart from the most recent checkpoint. Thankfully there are many of them.

It's all about money.

There are over 100m owners of a bass PS4 or Xbox.

Selling to them to those gamers enables CDPR to break even now and get the biggest payout upfront tether than only selling to next gen gamers and only breaking even in 6-8 months time.

Their "Pay me now, I will fix it later"-strategy isn't kind to gullible gamers who weren't not demoed the console version propert before launch.

I usually only buy games or gadgets based on what they are today, rather than a promise of what they could be at a later stage.

Future patches could improve previous gen performance but it could be at the cost of fewer cars, NPC or even shadow.

There is a fine line between playable and watered down.

It's funny, as mentioned I restarted the game, because I didn't have my character defined the way I wanted too, this time around I added a lot more points at the start of the game to Intelligence with the idea of being more of a net runner but here I am playing and not really hacking. I just finished the maelstrom quest to get the item for Dex (trying to avoid spoilers though I think I'm much further back then most). I found I prefer pistols and assault rifles, so I think I'll be dumping my points into reflexes and focus on those two skills. I'm at a level 6, but I've yet to do anything with those points, so its time now to make some commitments :)

That quest was fun, and the game is definitely enjoyable, but at the same time its a bit complex and (at least for me) a confusing.

As for the bugs/problems. In all honesty, I've really not incurred any problems, I'm on the PC and I have the visual quality set to medium ray tracing/dlss quality. I have film grain and those other setting disabled. My point is so far so good for my game play bug wise. I have seen NPCs appear or fall to the ground from nowhere but overall its been stable.

I'm saving my eddys, not sure how best to upgrade my cybernetics, but so far I have just over 12,000. I'll do some open world fun, tying to add exp and eddys.

I reached Level 7 last night. I also have 7 points to allocate. This evening I will focus on exploring the map, pick up junk, get into the odd shoot out with cops to develop my skills.

One dissapointmet with normal difficulty is that you hardly ever die and thus don't have an incentive to do hacking.

As a nomad i am OK with using my first run to learn the mechanics of the game. Subsequently I be ready to play the game in hard through the Corp life path.

When I play at hard difficulty I will built a character thats very geared towards hacking and intelligence. This is because at hard difficulty stealth and silent kills are essential. Rushing 3-4 enemies in a room ends up getting you killed.

I look forward to disabling cameras, short circuiting netrunners and distracting enemies.

I'm going stealth/netrunner for my first playthrough. I'm enjoying it but I'm also looking forward to ripping open doors instead of sneaking and trying out some of the heavy weapons.

I have had the game crash twice on me, but there are so many auto-save slots I never lose much progress.

surprisingly, I got 1,400 eddys selling my junk, so if you're committed, it can up. I'll be getting into more shootouts for the same reason :)

There's also an upgrade that lets you instantly disassemble junk automatically.
