Quick Series X comments:

-Artistically the game is like a movie. There is detail everywhere you look. Objects that would be lazy Jpegs or bitmap in other games are genuine 3D and light reflecting assets.

-The game runs smooth without performance issues.

-Graphically the game looks a bit washed out and a touch soft. It lacks the pop and glamour of the 4k/60 RT PC gameplay videos.

Other than that the game is lovely and engaging. Hopefully the neat gen patch will be ready once I am done with the nomad life path and ready for the next loft path.

Welp, I was wrong, the Steel-book version does include the map. Gotta love CDPR with all the literature they give you. 😁

Gratuitous photo ahead:

I've already had to have my car replaced by insurance because I wrecked it!

Loving the game so far but I don't understand how to get past some scenarios by being just a netrunner. It seems like all I can do right now is distract people.

Took

35 minutes for the data disk... to download on the system

40 minutes.... for the ps5 upgrade to kick in.....

this is not acceptable. The ps4 and Xbox had this annoyance but I bought a disk why did the 1st 35 minute download occur. The 2nd upgrade goes down to the internet speed I have

So the game installed to your system. Then there was a game update that had to install. As of right now CP2077 is running in backwards compatibility mode for PlayStation and Xbox. Native versions won’t be out until next year.

I’m loving the first person except for driving. I drive like a drunk in first person.

brain dance was confusing as hell at first but really cool once you get a hang of it.

I'm definitely not bored with the game. I've been bouncing back and forth on KBM and Controller... just works for me for certain situations. Earlier today, I went back to DLSS set to Quality. I thought 60 fps is still good, and I wanted to enjoy playing the game at it's highest graphic quality. Later on, I turned off Film Grain, Motion Blur, and Chromatic Aberration. Funny thing... as a Photographer, Chromatic Aberration is considered a bad thing... there is a setting in Photoshop and Lightroom to remove CA... not sure why it's a feature... LOL. Anyway, turning those 3 things off gave more fps and now runs around 80 to 90 fps range, but sometimes dips to 70, and once in a while 60 fps. I think I've been sticking way too much time on the main story... I need to break away and do side quests... I haven't hardly done any side quests. :(

@BlankStar?

Are you alive?😁 I haven’t heard from you in awhile, I figured you’d chime in with experience/thoughts so far.

[Also, word is through a podcast, that CDPR is releasing another ‘stability patch’ sometime before/after Christmas, but purportedly aiming for December.] Which wouldn’t shock me, being they take feedback pretty serious, given their reputation.

Interesting game, I'm not comfortable quite yet, a controller may be a better option for this game.

I'm still not sure what build works for my play style, after going through the practice makes perfect sim I'm definitely not a melee character and I'm not sure I want to be a stealth build, hmmmm decisions decisions.

I'm still in the "prologue" as I bounce around with different options

Driving is janky as anything, at least using a keyboard

LTT did a nice video, just about graphic performance. I've not finished watching the video, but I don't think there's any spoilers. He's comparing medium, high, ultra with and without ray tracing and/or DLSS. Its interesting to see how his high powered machine handles the game - one caveat is that he's using the reviewer preview with the performance sapping DRM which makes it a bit apples and oranges for us

If you are playing at the highest difficulty setting, the precision of KB could be useful in combat. I am playing at hard and the precision of the controller is decent enough for challenging battles.

I find controller and couch nice for kicking back during cut scenes and taking in the story.

I'm playing it on a 2019 gaming laptop, with a RTX 2060 super equipped egpu and its struggling to maintain mid 30 FPS. an older Mac Pro with an old GPU would not be recommended.
there is a graph that shows how CPU heavy the game is. Looks like the time of 4 core systems being adequate is over.

edit: or at least on the way out

I agonized over whether to pick normal or hard and I’m regularly getting my butt kicked on normal.
For me, its not about trying to beat a game at its most challanging setting, but rather the story and play through. Horizon zero dawn is a great example where they had story-mode and it was the experience that was enjoyable, not how hard it was to kill a mechanical horse or anything

I started out with KBM... as soon as started driving a car... nope...lol I grabbed the controller. But when I got into shooting... nope... KBM. Then hand to hand... back to controller. I'm all over the place... haha

New tip by Eurogamer: Improve graphics and visuals by disabling:
-Filmgrain
-Depth of field
-Motion blur
-Chromatic aberration
-HDR
I know HDR is beneficial playing on console/tv, so that is a bummer. Since I shoot a lot of photography, DOF is a feature I like... even if I don't notice it unless I look for it. Film grain, motion blur, and chromatic aberration... I don't need. I still understand why chromatic aberration is something people want... unless it means something different in gaming. That's something we eliminate in digital content creation. Definitely a good tip... I've gained fps, turning some of those settings off.

Apparently the HDR in the game, especially on consoles, is fake and SDR derived. Hence why the game looks a bit washed out compered eith PC. It looks better in SDR until the developer release a HDR patch.

Disabling film grain further improves the "washed out"-look.

I will disabled all the above in my sessions later this evening.

HDR is broken in the game. It raises black levels.
