I know it sounds trivial, but I really want the ‘steel book’. It sounds like it’s only like a while supplies last type of thing, according to Best Buy, they don’t guarantee that you actually will receive one with your order, depending which number you are in line.

I was tempted by those. Good luck!

Hahahahaha......

Google has a default timer for the countdown trending. The hype train is even stronger over RDR2 with Rockstar.

Having watches a few reviews, here are the takeaways:

-The game is awesome.

-There are numerous of visual bugs.

-Your choices in dialogues and side quests have consequences not just for your story but also for the development of other characters. Basically, three of us could play the game but progress to different paths and not even be offered the same side questions.

-The main campaign is roughly 20h long, excluding completions of all side quests.
Something to keep in mind is that some of the most memorable content in the Witcher 3 wasn't related to the main quest. There were a ton of side-quests.

did any of you "save Sean" in Fallout 4? Played for 50 hours then someone mentioned Sean... was like o yea !! that's the point of that game.

What I have further learned about Cyberpunk is that you can complete many main missions using:
-No violance
-Fists
-Weapons

However doing side quests is essential for:
-Learning more about other characters.
-Progressing through skill trees and having access to more capabilities for main missions.

Worth pointing out is that your skills with a particular weapon gets upgrades the more you us it.

Basically those who sprint through the main story will miss out alot of content and skills for completing missions.

I suspect the majority of gamers realize the nature of an RPG, where it’s not a linear-based game. When you look at major titles like RDR2, GTAV, Witcher, nobody Seemingly rushes through the storyline, it’s a total immersion experience with an open world sandbox type game that has so many path points. I mean, even the ‘learning curve’ kind of prevents you from rushing through it, because there’s so much to understand.

Games like Call of duty, with campaign, those are the type of games that are ‘rushed’ through.

The same can be said for most RPG type games.

In other news as mentioned earlier in this thread you can now download the game off of steam. I have it ready and waiting to go. I did try running it, but a pop up appeared immediately stating its not unlocked yet - I tried :)

I'm going against my desire not read reviews, but I was perusing what cnet had to say
Cyberpunk 2077 is gigantic, flawed and fantastic

Commentary: It's not a revolution, and it's not perfect. But Cyberpunk 2077 gives fans what they hoped for: an enormous world to lose hundreds of hours in

I'm definitely looking forward to when the game unlocks, which I think for my time zone will be tomorrow afternoon. If not, I'll start playing Thursday.

I've been so invested in the Fallout franchise, it will be refreshing to start something different, I tried playing the Master Chef series of Halo thanks to the xbox subscription but that game (I know its not really an RPG) failed to really grab me. Its wildly popular and I'm not knocking it, but its just not something that I've been able to lose myself in - maybe down road, as for cyberpunk, I am trying to keep my expections from growing to far but a nice diversion from all the craziness outside is definitely welcome

I wish you could play 3rd person like in Fallout. It’s one of the things that I disliked about Outer Worlds and the reason I gave up on it. Other than the story not being very interesting to me. It’s like if you are going to make it a 1st person shooter then make the hands and the gun models look like they do in call of duty if I’m forced to play from that view point

I think both consoles have that mode.

I'm probably going to pre-order it so, it will download fairly early on. I'll be getting it on the PC, though this was the game that would have pushed me to a PS5, except there's none to be had ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Then realizing that with christmas, coming up, I need to take care of my family with presents instead of myself
Have you seen the Techcrunch performance stats for PC?

The lack of a 3rd person mode is a bummer and makes me question the purpose of a highly elaborate character customization tool.

Could it be added later? Possibly, but what will be the point if millions of people have already scratched their itch with the game.

Hopefully multiplayer will have a third party perspective.

Some games will grab you, others won't. This is why I will buy physical copies of some games that I will buy on day one.

If the game simply isn't for me or falls below expectations than I can sell it and get some of my money back.

Imagine if you bought digital copies of AC Valhalla and COD but didn't like them. That would be a regrettable £120-150 spend, equivalent to a quarter of a new console.

Have you seen the Techcrunch performance stats for PC?
No, do you have a link? The only techcrunch article I found was this but (I could have missed it) I didn't see much in terms of performance. https://techcrunch.com/2020/12/07/c...ge-potential-if-you-can-ignore-the-cyberjank/

Thanks to your reply however, I found this: https://www.tomshardware.com/news/cyberpunk-2077-performance-preview

recommended for 1080p high, RTX 2060 for 1440p ultra, and an RTX 2080 Super for 4K ultra. Then there's the ray tracing additions, with the RTX 2060 listed as the minimum for 1080p and RT medium, 3070 for 1440p and RT ultra, and 3080 for 4K RT ultra. Based on what we're seeing, it looks like those recommendations are for 30-40 fps. If you're after smooth 60 fps performance, you're going to need to aim quite a bit higher on the hardware specs (unless the day-0 launch patch provides an unprecedented boost to performance).

I have a Razer blade advanced which rocks a RTX 2070 and I use a eGPU with a 2060 RTX super, and from the sounds of the Toms Hardware I may be pushing it, if I turn up the details and/or ray tracing.

Some games will grab you, others won't.
No question, its just how popular Halo is and I'm left with just a Meh type attitude - oh well to each his own.

I see your point though I tend to only do digital at this point both for my PC (is there any physical media any more?) and PS4. I found for the PS4, its a nice option as I can re-download and not worry about scratching my discs or losing them. I try to take care of my discs but for reasons unknown to me, one or two have developed scratched.

Yeah my bad I meant Tomshardware. Basically this game appears to be the new Crysis in terms of hardware requirements for rendering. It will be interesting to see the XSX/PS5 versions next year to see where they lie in terms of settings required to hit a certain level of performance (with RT).

Indeed, from what little I know of those consoles, it should be able to handle it, and there's two modes, performance and visual, so if you want to maintain 60fps, the consoles will automatically downgrade the visual quality

I have watched a few short gameplay videos.

The craziest bug I have seen is during a gun battle in a warehouse. One enemy rise up into the tall ceiling like a helium balloon, and keeps firing down at the player.🤣🤣

Good point about physical PC games. I forgot that they are increasingly rare.

Isn't MS flight simulator the new Crysis?

Nah, from my understanding from watching digital foundary MS Flight Sim is mainly CPU limited. They seemed to think it is because the Engine it runs on is stuck using DX11.

I caved and watched the IGN review. He said he did the main quest in 20 hours BUT he then went and did 25 hours of side quests. The side quests drastically changed what happens at the end. He also said a friend of his never even saw one of his favorite missions because they had made a different dialog choice.

I prefer 3rd person also but I'm hoping it's like Dues Ex where it didn't both me at all.

Here's a spoiler free video of the game, compiled reviews, and a synopsis of the good, bad and ugly.
The bugs seem to be the major issue, even with a day 0 patch. It seems the reviewers played on an unpatched copy, and developer then issued a partial Day 0 patch which helped but didn't clean up all of the game impacting bugs.

I'm a bit more tempered with my expectations, though the game is easily garnering 9 out of 10 scores with the bugs, so it does appear to be a good game

I wouldn't look into early performance reviews until after release with the Day 1 patch and Official Drivers. GamerNexus (very well known highly reputable tech reviewer on YouTube) tweeted about any performance reviews published prior to the official launch will not accurately reflect launch performance.

Originally tweeted by GamersNexus...
FYI: Cyberpunk currently has DRM that is only active for reviewers and is known to reduce performance. Will not be active on launch day, therefore any testing published today will not accurately reflect launch performance. CDPR warned us of this, so we are waiting for launch day.

If you haven't seen GamerNexus's YouTube channel, he is a very good thorough tech reviewer.

So, Best Buy thinks it’s funny to troll me roughly 24 hours before the launch of Cyberpunk. The first email they sent me, stating that my game was ‘ready for pick up’ on Monday, December 7 (And today is Wednesday), followed by a second email arriving with an hour, staying ‘they made a mistake’ and is scheduled on time for Thursday, December 10:

Maybe I should perma-ban Best Buy for trolling.😁
