I am glad that I bought a physical copy. It comes bundled with a map, stickers, postcards(not pictures) and other goodies. 😍 😍

My favorite surprise is a Night City booklet. It included history from 1990 to 2077, information about the different areas, weapons and more.

I will read thr booklet on my lunch break before playing this evening.

I started the game, so far its quite visual, as I know this is the console forum, but being a merged thread, I'll post my impressions on my Razer Advanced (2019) running a RTX2070 mobile and a egpu rocking with a RTX 260 super. Don't worry no spoilers :)

I have the egpu hooked up and just moving around in the city at the very beginning, I'm seeing frame rates in the low 30s with the settings to ultra. I think I'll disconnect the egpu and see how the RTX 2070 works, as it won't have the bottleneck of thunderbolt interface. The downside of using the discrete GPU is heat/fan noise. My laptop fans don't even come on with the egpu.

I've played with the various settings to improve frame rates but even at the lowest settings its a very demanding game. I've not gotten into any part of the story that I need to be fighting/shooting or running and so the lower frame rates feel smooth. Playing the recent Tomb Raider games which can push a computer, I found low frame rates to make the game feel janky, that's not being noticed here (at least yet).

Doing a bit of googling, you can choose nomad vs. street kid vs. Corpo, each choice opens or closes various dialog choices and it seems it gives you options. I went with street kid initially, but I may start a new game off the 2070 and go with nomad to see how that starts off.

One thing I heard multiple times is don't rush through, this isn't a race to the finish, enjoy the game, and take your time. I'm actually doing that and seeing what works best right off the best. I'll let others finish up and provide their insights

I read Tom's hardware report and the game is very demanding. The frame rates for some graphics cards are a bit low. DLSS is essential for those who have a graphics card that support it.

DF foundry also mentioned an interesting point. If you start out as a nomad you might see your frame rate drop once you are in the busy city centre.

High end PC gameplay with ray tracing look amazing. Although gameplay on consoles doesn't look as lush, there is no denying that Series X and PS5 are bonkers value for money. They run the game at a 30-60fps target near 4k.

I don’t get it. So my version includes a steel bookcase, but I don’t get the map. (Which irks me even more, being I want the map.) But if I would’ve opted for the ‘standard’ version without the steel book, I would receive a map. I have no idea why they would’ve done that, aside from cost savings. So now I have to use a ‘digital download’ to see the map versus a physical copy. A bit annoying, but it is what it is. If I had known that ahead of time, I just would have opted for the standard version, and scrapped the steel book.

Yeah, I was expecting a demanding game, but in all honesty, my Razer has been able to chew through any and all games I've played (granted my games generally are not high end)

I can see that, because you're not starting in the city, like the two other builds, and so you could possible get lulled into a false sense of enjoyment with your performance

No question the game delivers some stunning visuals with a RTX equipped computer (or what ever the AMD version is) as for the PS5/XboX X, I won't disagree and I was debating on getting a PS5 but three factors stopped me.
1. Availability
2. Price, while you're getting some potent hardware, dropping 500 on a game console is still a bitter pill, and new game prices for the new consoles are pricey.
3. Game availability, CP77 doesn't have a next gen console version yet - we need to wait until 2021. While the PS5 has more next gen games out over the XBox, I've heard complaints about quantity over quality with regard to the PS5 games. There's a one or two really good titles but the others, meh.

Back to CP77, I'll be looking to play off my discrete GPU at lunch hour (I need to work now), and depending on how things play out, I'll start a new game as a nomad and see how that plays through, and I may do the same as a corpo. I'll not do the entire 2+ hour prologue for each type but I should be able tell after a little while if it gels to how I want to play.

Night city is visually extremely varied and detailed. However improved drivers and optimised recommendation settings by DF will greatly help many.

What resolution are you playing at?

I was up late, so a late start playing the game this morning. I did play the game yesterday, but I wasn't up late last night because of playing... I was doing editing/digital content creation work, which is what I built my rig primarily for.:)

Before playing, I just want post to my experience with the game so far (NO SPOILERS). After 1st firing up the game, 1st thing most PC gamers do is go to graphics settings. I don't know if it's my hardware (AMD 5900x, RTX 3090 FTW3 Ultra, 32gb ram playing on 3440x1440 monitor), but all the default settings were all ultra settings, RT On. DLSS set to Auto.

Since I had the GPU I had, I set the 2 things that had Psycho setting to Psycho (Screen Space Reflection Quality and Ray-Traced Lighting), then set DLSS to Psycho-Ultra. Started playing KBM, and FPS was in the 100-120 range starting as Nomad. Certain scenes looked amazing, and some a little underwhelming. V was pixilated/blurry...

Went back to settings, set DLSS to Quality, and V looked sharp and clear... but frames dropped in the 60's. I read that Chromatic Aberration makes games blurry so I turned that off, set DLSS to Balanced, then fps went in the 80's. Honestly DLSS in Quality at 60 fps is the best setting, especially since I'm using Gsync anyway., but DLSS in Auto and Balanced are similar, so I just went back to auto default for the extra frames.

As far as gameplay mechanics, I played for a while on KBM... but switched to controller (I suck at both KBM and Controller) but feel more comfortable sitting back rocking on my Ikea Poang chair with 2x 50 watt bass shakers mounted on it. This chair and a good pair of headphones... I hardly notice the rumble on the controller... LOL

I've read posts here about crowd density on PC. I think it's annoying trying to weave through the city trying to avoid bumping into people... lol. At least it isn't like Shadow of the Tomb Raider where you are trying to avoid one person in your path, and you still manage to bump them... haha...

Trying to keep it Spoiler free... I'll just add this game is buggy. Things floating and disappearing. It didn't hinder my gameplay experience... but when my kids tell me, "You just passed a midget... go back and look at the midget..". When I turn around, I want to see what my kids seen... but the midget magically disappeared. LOL.

Well anyway... I'm gonna start playing now as much as I can since I have the day off from work... hope you all have fun playing and enjoying the experience.

That might be part of the problem 3440 x 1440
Try dropping the resolution to 1080p and upping it gradually from there.

Are the shakers only compatible with PC?
I got the game, now waiting for my daughter to finish her zoom class before I clog up our rural dsl connection.

My downloading speed was slow in the first 4min but quickly rose to 134mbps. However that was 4 hours ago. The servers are likely to face greater load now but u likely to the same extent as launch day for Series X.

My path download took roughly 44-60min.

No... my kid plays his ps4 games with my chair and he loves it. I recommend the Aurasound AST-2B-4 Pro Bass Shaker Tactile Transducer. Parts Express frequently has them on sale for $39. Dayton Audio makes a 50 watt version that looks the same... I have those also btw.... but the Aurasound is better. I have them hooked up in series. I have a pic of it in my "Current Rig" link in sig if you want to how I mounted them. With the right crossover adjustment, you will only feel the explosions, gun fire kick, the bass boom in the music while driving through Night City... and not vibrating voice dialog... which my Dayton's tend to do. Really adds a new dimension in gaming and movies. Another advantage is you can game with headphones and feel it without disturbing others in the house.

I'm digging it for the most part (playing on PS5). I was able to make my OC Lucifer (see icon) for the most part, which was really cool.

I have to say it's been kinda buggy for me so far; 3 crashes to desktop, partial rendered/t-posing NPCs, and my favorite, not being able to exit combat mode, even after finishing mission and leaving the area.

Only being a few hours in, I'm worried about the fate of Jackie. He's the mentor/dad type and I'm so worried he's going to get flatlined.

Spent about two hours with it so far and really like it. I turned off some of the visual effects such as motion blur. The first person perspective is really immersive to me. I've hit a couple of funny bugs. Jackie was just floating in the air instead of sitting on a chair behind him. The funniest bug was with my male V. I selected to have him in boxer shorts instead of his junk hanging out. When I got to my apartment and looked into the mirror V was completely naked with no junk. I had to change clothes to make his boxers come back.

I've barely started exploring the city but it looks really impressive.

I was thinking of buying this for years but the early reviews have scared me into waiting. This thread is making me think the iffy reviews were overblown though.

The bugs are mainly visual and don't hinder gameplay. It's like with other things in life, are you willing to overlook the bad for the good?

I've played with the settings, resolution, using the discrete GPU over the EGPU and overall I'm happy with how I have it configured.

I'm sticking with the EGPU, even if performance is a bit inferior to that of the discrete GPU. Life is just easier using the EGPU, and I'm not dealing with the heat and fan noise of a laptop getting too hot.

I have settings set to offer a balance of performance and visual interest. Since I spent my lunch hour configuring, I got very little game play in. As I previously mentioned, I started the game as a street kid, but I think I may shift gears and see how the nomad starts out as. I don't have too much time invested in the game, so I'm going to poke around at different options, i.e., street kid vs nomad vs. corpo, now's the time to do it.
