Terrible decision. The Notification Center was never a good replacement for Dashboard. With one tap I can get a glance at the calendar, weather, time in different time zones, CPU/fan stats, and even an astronomy picture of the day. Simple, fluid, and not constrained to a thin strip of desktop space that requires me to scroll. I use it multiple times a day. So much so that I'm not sure I'll upgrade to Catalina if they've taken it out.
I have an actual desktop space reserved for stuff like this, except for CPU/fans which I use smcFanControl for. So even if I used the Dashboard more often, I don't think it's a big loss in my case.

I have to admit, I didn't realize it was still around.

I had it my 2012 mini, but they disabled the weather widget or something recently so I didn't think about when I got a new mini and ( I didn't update my OS on the mini ) Mojave. Kind of comforting getting it back and it works. I even have Deliveries on it, so I don't have to pay ( kind of annoyed I have to get it again in app form to put on my mac, but I paid for the IOS version so no big deal ) for it again on Mac.

I like - and have always liked - Dashboard - it is clear, easy to use, and pleasant to look at, and I am very sorry to see it discontinued.

And, in common with many of those who have already posted, I am at a mystery to understand the bizarre pleasure some posters are taking in the discontinuation of this (useful to some of us) feature, merely because they themselves do not use it.

Just because it has little of use to you does not mean that this is the case for everyone else; some of us use it and have long used it, and enjoyed being able to do so.

I use the dictionary and thesaurus all the time. Is there a replacement?

As do I.

500ms in, 500ms out. My top left corner of DB, and I know the times for everyone I interact with. Problem is really useful features like color-coded folders in the Sidebar and Dashboard get axed because the C-Level team never use them, and cannot understand why these features are there. Sadly, I was just thinking today, that Apple really is no longer the OS for power users. High-value PR Pros yes (new MP), and brand enthusiasts, but no longer power users. I think Nadella has a Jobsian sense for how to leverage power users to build better products for the masses. Good thing I am set with hware and current Mac OS (I'll never upgrade now) for a long time. Will assess Nadella's strategy vs. Tim Apple's at some future point.

This is a very useful feature for those of us who have worked across several time-cones in the course of our daily working lives.

Besides, quite apart from the functional aspect, it is great fun to have a scene feature which allows you to look at different time zones simultaneously.

On long flights, I am the sort of person who never watches movies, but who is utterly entranced by the flight path feature.

Just sucks that there are only a handful of users (out of the entire ecosystem of MacOS users) that has business/relationships in multiple time zones.

I am with you on the flight feature, after sleeping through an international flight, the last hours is spent tinkering with the flight path.

Didn't even know Sierra still had it until I read this article. Been using the side-swipe for calc and weather.

I have been using Macs (again anyway) since Tiger, when these were introduced. Even when Tiger came out I never touched these. I don't really touch widgets though. Even when I was an Android user, the transition to iOS didn't feel pain from the lack of widgets.

I find Notification Center to be WAY better.

all the 'good it's gone' and 'good riddance' comments confuse me.
It's like people are saying "I don't understand how to use this therefore no one else should be allowed to use it"

Agree completely.

The intolerance of some - or lack of imagination because while they themselves have no use for it, they cannot envisage a world where others may find this feature of interest or useful - is quite striking.

End of an era. I can't tell you the last time I used it since spotlight does so much now.

I still use Dashboard every day on all my Macs. I mostly use it for quick calculator, checking what day of the week a date falls on, unit conversation, time zones, weather, and more. There's other ways to do all of those thing, but the Dashboard was the fastest way, and that's what's always mattered to me, the speed.

Anyway, I'm curling working on trying to get Dashboard running in the 10.15 beta. I'm not a programer, just a casual hacker. Anyone out there want to help?

Well ****, I used this all the time. Can anyone enlighten me as to some weather "Widgets" or "sticky note" apps?

I used it quite a bit for general work, too. Mostly just sticky notes and calculator. Not a big deal, but I have a hard time seeing why they couldn't have just gave an option to use it or not.
For notes you can use the Notes app. It syncs to your iPhone.

For simple calculations hit cmd+space and type it into Spotlight:
* is multiply
/ is divide by
^ is exponent

I opened Notification Center (which does not make sense as a place for productivity widgets) and clicked on "App Store" at the bottom. I'm taken to the App Store where there's only 17 widgets available.... 17! The Dashboard had hundreds of widgets.

Something doesn't make sense unless this is a push to get more developers making Notification widgets.

Apple, you are bizarre sometimes.

I'm not a fan of notification center compared to dashboard, BUT the edit button down there only shows you notification widgets for the apps you have displayed. There's no way I'm aware of to see what apps in the App Store feature Notification Center widgets. The 17 you're seeing is how many apps you have insstalled have widgets available.
