It does interfere with your personal and takes away one of the great features … the personal people see when you interact with them while wearing it.

You wouldn't need fancy covers like this if the front of the AVP wasn't a big heavy polished glass slab in the first place. iFixit says it's 34 grams, which doesn't sound like a lot, but it all adds up. That's about 5% of the total weight of the AVP at about 625 grams.
Dang that’s all? I thought it was more. That makes Eyesight seem more reasonable.

Sure it's not a lot, but engineers normally kill for a 5% weight savings for these devices. Simply replacing the glass front with some type of plastic Apple might be likely to use, like polycarbonate or acrylic, might drop the weight of this front piece by about 50%, down to about 16 grams, and even a 2.5% reduction in weight is the kind of thing that engineers strive for, but consider that this would be intended as only part of the redesign for removing the Eyesight hardware altogether, which would probably reduce the weight a lot more than that, though I can't find figures on the weight of the Eyesight hardware itself.

Why do you get so much pleasure and enjoyment out of belittling and insulting and hating those of us that have the AVP? Are you familiar with the word "schadenfreude"?
It’s called a “joke”. You have taken this too literally, and frankly by how offended you are by said joke, shows how you find some truth in it. I suggest taking that scuba mask off and go to a comedy club, and learn about jokes, and how to not take comments on the internet so seriously.

I thought it was a Croc someone had put on their Alien Versus Predator!

That’s quite a leap there. I was making fun of how ugly this thing is, and how little it should sell as a result. Sorry I didn’t spell that out in great detail in a rapid-fire joke!

I bet Jason Vorhees would love one! Other than that, I wonder if Dbrand realizes that Apple has discontinued production of the Vision Pro?

Dbrand today announced the launch of its new Aperture protective cover for the Apple Vision Pro, which is designed to protect the large glass display of the device.

Made in a Voronoi style with multiple cutouts in a polyurethane material, the cover fits onto the front of the Vision Pro. The cover does not block any of the sensors or buttons on the Vision Pro, so it can be left on the device at all times, which is useful for VR games and activities that might lead you into walls.

Dbrand developed the case after seeing a 3D printed version from Kyle Goodrich, a former AR designer at Snap. Apple bundles the Vision Pro with a protective cover, but Apple's cover is designed to be in place only while the Vision Pro isn't being worn.

The Aperture Faceplate is being sold alongside a separate Aperture Battery Holster that matches the design of the cover while also adding a clip to attach it to an item of clothing while the Vision Pro is in use. Both the Battery Holster and the Faceplate are available in black or orange.

The Aperture Faceplate alone is priced at $49, while the combo is $69. The accessories can be purchased from the Dbrand website.

Now you can look even more ridiculous …

For everybody roasting this product's design, Dbrand is well aware. They sent out an email with this paragraph.

"Is this the ugliest product we've ever made? Better question: do enough people own a Vision Pro to care? Ten out of ten Vision Pro owners agree: Aperture might just be the key to Apple selling an eleventh Vision Pro."

Interesting assertion

Would make sense given what an isolating and anti-social device it is

(all VR, not just AVP)

Rubbish. With AVP you have full use of your ears and sight. I don't feel isolated at all when using it. And if someone comes in and wants to talk, it slips off easily enough. People are more isolated wearing headphones. I know a lot of people put on headphones while flying just to discourage their neighbors from talking to them. Technology is not the problem, it's how it's used. Just because its not for you, does not make it anti-social.

Ok, that is pretty funny

Even DBrand is roasting the AVP flop 😂

Wow - the three Vision Pro owners must be hotly debating this right now.

The five Vision Pro users who also hate themselves must be ecstatic.

slaps my thigh... omg! how funny! seriously, after the 5000th time this has been repeated in MR, and I am STILL laughing.

Here's a comedy lesson, originality counts. Some things just get painfully old and tedious and do reflect on the person that spreads it. :) I wont comment on the irony of responding to an internet comment with dont take it so seriously... oops guess I did. Funny huh?

I do agree, the market for this is not huge. I wont be buying one because frankly I have never dropped mine or ran into a wall (how strange of a suggestion, the pass through is the best in the market), buy I do encourage originality and thinking outside the box, which this does. Good to see folks thinking and not just criticizing. BTW, nothing wrong with how a scuba mask looks, it's just a tool that helps me go a 100 feet underwater and experience a different world. Just like the AVP tool is lets me see a different world as well. You got something against tools?

It's an expensive useless toy at this point. You can't deny it's been a very disappointing product so far.

Some of the best toys are expensive, I mean who really needs a Corvette? But oh the fun if you can afford one. That's if driving a muscle car is your thing. Ever try Louis XIII cognac? Sure at a cost of $300 per standard 1.5 ounce pour its expensive, and you literally pee it out the next day, but oh your tongue will never forget the treat.

Every time I put on my AVP, it's with a sense of awe this technology exists and I get to experience it. And it only gets better with each software upgrade. Sure, VisionOS version 1.0 was just a start and could be awkward at times, but 2.0 is smooth as Louis XIII with my gestures.

Disappointing to who? Shareholders? I wouldn't know. But the stock price doesn't reflect disappointment. To tech pundits? You tubers? MR nay sayers hoping to be popular? Ask me if I care. Hint. Nope.

I might have buyers remorse about the beanie babies I bought my kids, but I certainly don't regret my AVP. Or the Louis XIII. Mostly I regret the things I didn't try.

So I deny it's been a disappointing product so far (to me). To you? Sure seems so.

What I truly don't get is why people invest so much time in hating a product they dont intend to buy. I don't waste my time on Quest forums.

Life is good. Enjoy what you enjoy, ignore the rest.
