Amazon today is discounting the 32GB Apple TV 4K to $149.99, down from $179.00. It's been months since we've seen any solid discounts on the Apple TV 4K, so Amazon's $29 markdown today is noteworthy if you're looking to purchase an Apple TV in early 2021.

This version of the Apple TV launched in 2017, introducing 4K and HDR support for the first time in Apple's set-top box. It also supports Dolby Atmos and Dolby Vision, and includes the TV app, which houses Apple's new Apple TV+ streaming service.

The 64GB Apple TV 4K model is also seeing a discount on Amazon, and it's available for $189.99, down from $199.00. We are expected to see a new Apple TV model sometime in 2021, but any specific launch window is unclear.

Our full Deals Roundup has more information on the latest Apple-related sales and bargains. We also track specific Apple TV sales in our dedicated Deals Guide.

outside of people who use it for gaming (guessing it's a small %), what are you looking for? It already supports the hold standard DV/ATMOS. Speed has never been an issue.
I bought the 32GB version, and it worked great until I discovered Infuse and was able to rip all my movies to MKV and play them back at full quality without any transcoding. Now, every few months I get a message from Infuse that Apple TV ran out of space and deleted all my metadata. It takes a while to rebuild, and there are usually a few errors I have to go in and manually fix. I'd like to get a new one with more memory to avoid this, but it's a lot of money for no other improvements. Maybe Apple can come out with another generation that's less expensive?

I've attempted to avoid getting an AppleTV. I have an older mac mini that works for the most part with AirServe installed for iOS mirroring, but if it comes to services like HBO, or regional cable (Fibe TV) that works in an app, DRMd content won't work with AirServe. That means monkeying around with a mouse and sometimes keyboard to go to the website 7:30PM each night for Jeopardy.

I've tried the 2017 model with the remote... don't like the remote. I know the remote software is built in to iPhone, so maybe that's more feasible/useful in the end run anyway(?) but never used it.

Holding out for a cheaper refresh for now...

While I own a 4K Apple TV and would like another for the media room, I'm concerned that this model may already be on the way out and perhaps best to wait till summer. Look at the news about YouTube pulling the app for the previous Apple TV as a harbinger of things to come: YouTube Discontinuing 3rd-Generation Apple TV App, AirPlay Still Available
I don't see how YouTube being pulled from a 9 year old unsupported product would have anything to do with a new Apple TV coming out.

Still over priced in this competitive streaming market. They should knock another $50 off for making people use that crap remote.
Naw the remote is great. Far better than the ad covered Roku. I'd say a mild discount makes sense given it's age, but it's still 5 years ahead of the competition.
My new Samsung Frame TV has 99% of the apps and functionality of the ATV 4k, including AppleTV+ and Apple Music. I haven't fired mine up in two months which was when I got the TV.
To each is own I guess. I prefer privacy.

FWIW, Amazon France is sold out. Other Amazon's have stock, so probably does not mean anything.

Infuse is fantastic, right? Not sure if you have had time to play with it, but it will let you use network attached storage.

Don’t know why it’s still that price. You can get a Roku or Fire Stick for around $30-$50, and most TV’s these days just have smart software built into them. You don’t need need them for AirPlay anymore since some manufacturers like Vizio and TCL build it right in.

But not 2 year old Sony's.

The only reason I'd upgrade to this one (if it was cheap enough) would be for dual-bluetooth headphone support. Does that only work with AirPods, or can one use the ATV 4K with any two pairs of bluetooth headphones?

I bought Infuse a while ago but never used it much. All my disc rips were in an Apple friendly format and I just use Synology's DS video.

Since getting Airpods Max, I really want Spatial Audio support.

Prior to APM's I was otherwise largely satisfied with the current ATV4K. The remote ain't great but a lot better when put in a case (putting aside the lunacy of a case for remote control :D).
