You can also use any IR remote with it - on some newer TVs, the built in remote works with it too (My Sony Z9F remote works with the Apple TV).
Thanks... Just got the 4K 32GB version in the mail yesterday... and paired fine with my old Harmony IR remote. Works fine. I guess the downside to the iPhone app is no direct volume control, but either way, we've got three different ways of controlling in the house now.

You can control volume with the phone (provided your amplifier supports HDMI-CEC) - just use the volume buttons on the iPhone itself!

Yeah, I've got an older amp, so no HDMI passthrough. Everything just running through HDMI to the TV. TV is a good dozen years old as well, so though I can turn off the apple tv and tv through the remote, turning on will not power the TV. No direct TV volume control through the iPhone.

Ah, the older UI wasn't working in my favor. Buried on pg 2. of 'settings' there was a control for power on link that I've enabled, and I think everything works about as good as it can now. Thanks for getting me to keep prodding at it.
