I have dual 27” Dell 4K monitors and the resolution is fine for me, mostly because I sit a solid 2-3 feet back from the monitors. If I were to put my nose up to I’d see a pixel density difference compared to my 14” MBP, but I don’t really notice it in regular use, even compared to a 5K screen.

Going bigger than 27” though I think you’d definitely notice a sharpness difference though (32” and higher) so at that point 5K and 6K is the way to go.
I guess I haven’t used a 27”, I’d consider it If I could look at a demo. I don’t crowd my screens either.

Unfortunately no vesa mounting on the M8. I know why, but it’s still unfortunate because I need that.

It didn’t always have the VESA option, but it’s there now.
funny mine is vesa mounted. have it on an arm and everything.
How do you like yours? I’ve been considering this monitor for a while, but never bit the bullet on it.

Samsung today kicked off a special "Discover Samsung" event, which will be a week-long savings event focusing on Samsung monitors, smartphones, TVs, appliances, and more. While some deals will stick around the entire week (through March 26), others will refresh every day.

The highlight of the new sale is Samsung's 32-inch Smart Monitor M8 for $449.99 in Warm White, down from $699.99. Samsung's Smart Monitor M8 has a design very similar to the new 24-inch iMacs, and it uses USB-C charging connectivity and includes AirPlay support.

Only the Warm White color is available at this low price, while all others are seeing a $549.99 price tag. Compared to past sales, this is the best price we've seen on the Smart Monitor M8 so far in 2023, and is an overall second-best price when looking at sales from the 2022 holiday season.

The M8 houses a 4K UHD flat LCD panel providing 400 nits of brightness, a 60Hz refresh rate, HDR support, and adaptive picture technology that automatically adjusts display brightness and color temperature for viewing comfort. The M8 chassis is 11.4mm thin, which is 0.1mm thinner than Apple's iMac, and it includes a flat back, thin bezels, and a height adjustable stand with tilt functionality.

Integrated into the display is Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 4.2 wireless connectivity, one micro HDMI port, and two USB-C ports one of which offers 65W of charging output for a phone and notebook.

Besides the Smart Monitor M8, we've rounded up a few other items you can get on sale during the Discover Samsung event. These include savings on memory, monitors, and TVs, and remember that you can check back every day for fresh deals. One of the best deals in this sale is Samsung's curved 55-inch Odyssey Ark 4K monitor for $1,999.99 ($1,000 off).
Head to our full Deals Roundup to get caught up with all of the latest deals and discounts that we've been tracking over the past week.

Cannot recommend this monitor. I purchased it nearly a year ago and the original one arrived DOA and Samsung refused to replace it. Instead, they wanted to repair it. After several exchanges they finally agreed to replace it and the replacement camera/microphone doesn't work correctly. Their support is the absolute worst I have ever experienced. It is 100% outsource vendors who have no idea how the product works and their entire script is designed to frustrate users to the point where they won't do warranty service. To repair the camera, they expected me to ship (at my expense) the entire monitor to them. They would then take up to 10 days to diagnose and then let me know if it was under warranty. Last Samsung product I will ever own.

The world was a much better, nicer and friendly place before digital washing machines, and everything worked just fine. Better in fact. Washing machines lasted 30 years. The clothes came out cleaner too.

One thing I quite liked when recently setting up a Sony TV was the ability to have it run without setting up Google TV or any other major operating system. It's obviously still running some version of Google TV, but "basic mode" didn't require a full set up, login, or anything else, and it operates just like an older non-smart TV. It let me just plug in my Nvidia Shield and use that device's input.

You can have one of these for less than the price of two iPad magic keyboards.

Let that sink in

You can actually get productive work done using a Magic Keyboard though attached to an iPad Pro with an industry-leading touch display. There's nothing industry-leading about this Samsung pile of plastic - though admittedly, I'm sure some could find a use for it.

Cool. Now tell us when the 5K Viewfinity S9 is being released and what it'll cost.
Exactly! We are 2 months on from their announcement @ CES, and have no further information on the Viewfinity S9's price, or release date. It's entirely possible that it doesn't launch until late 2023, but it would be nice to have some idea. Right now, I think there's issues in the display chain (per Ross Young) that continues to push a lot of these display back and back, and back again, from their planned launch dates. Apple was originally supposed to release a new monitor in Q4 2023, that got pushed to Q1 2023, and got pushed once again too.

Only offering 65 watts of charging for connected devices is the reason that my list of monitors and docking stations got cut down really quick. The minimum these days should be 100 watts.

Some people are looking for quality displays to pair with their MacBook Air/Pro, Mac mini, or Mac Studio. Not everyone wants an all-in-one.
True. Let me revise that and suggest this would not be a discussion had Apple gave us an affordable Studio Display.

anything that starts with "Samsung" I don't buy.

So you don't buy iPhones, Macs, and iPads? Because depending on what device you have Samsung made the screen, the RAM memory, the storage unit, the battery, the cellular modem, or even the CPU (yes, Samsung has made A-Chips for Apple in the past).

I want an all in one for my home setup.

I already have a great-quality monitor in my office. I want a good All-in-one screen at home that I can use for either work or entertainment, and the M8 seems to be a good candidate.

And yet, as others have pointed out in response to such posts, here you are on a medium that wouldn’t exist in your preferred universe 😂
