I didn't think it's possible after the sheer number but great Apple is doomed post.

He's dead and Apple is thriving.

I start with a phone call to Apple..,

All of your shilling doesn't change the fact that ipad shipments drop year over year, while the iphone is now too, and the new Apple managed to **** up things like the Mac Mini

On the other side, all of your bashing doesn't change the fact that Apple had more than several record breaking quarters and if things got "that" bad they could lose billions and not break a sweat, if they had to.

Maybe improvment is needed in some areas, but imo, the company is nowhere near the doom and gloom in this board.

So, markets evolve. Markets are made up of people. People evolve. Could it be that people are getting bored with staring into their smartphone constantly? Could it be that people are realizing that deep satisfaction in life is not found in being infatuated with technology? After going through so many upgrade cycles maybe people are realizing that the incremental updates are not nearly worth the price given the basic experience is relatively unchanged. Given all the speculations there's no updates on the horizon that are getting people excited. So, more people are more than willing to wait and get more utility out of their existing devices rather than burning through cash to have a marginally better experience.

The glee people used to feel when they showed of their newest iPhone is long gone. Updates have been marginal at best and people don't care. Welcome to a mature smartphone world.

I think iPhone 7 series will be one of the least innovative. Nice way to commorate a happy 10 years. If rumors of the 7 looking similar to the 6, Samsung's AMOLED for the 7s, and glass rear, BIG WHOOP! I absolutely loathe glass rears which is why I have lost interest in the S7 edge since I don't feel I will be using its edge features when you can do that even without a slope on the sides. Cosmetic nonsense.

I was thinking of Sony's dominant decade run with PlayStation from 1996-2006. They sold over 100M each with PS1 and PS2. By PS3, Sony never really reached the success of the other two. Even with PS4 doing well, it probably will never reach the level of PS1 and PS2. Sony was Apple before Apple became big. They were cool and innovative. Now look at Sony. Samsing is stomping on them almost everywhere.

I say by the 2020's, the faces could change again. It might NOT be Apple or Samsung anymore. It might be Huawei or Lenovo. People especially in tech are fickle. Look at the many websites from 15-20 years ago that are no longer relevant like they used to be. I think people are generally getting tired of smartphones just like tablets. We had our fill with it. We will still use it to be online connected but we probably won't upgrade as often because of the incremental update. We will move on to the next big thing. I hope we move into robots or hologram technology. Count me, Obi-Wan Kenobi!

If nothing like Star Wars/Star Trek stuff, I hope we have technology to travel back in time, eternal life, or cure for cancer. Smartphones are becoming disposal. Why not try to live forever so we won't be as disposal as smartphones and our digital media where add and delete is common. Smartphone technology has gotten very boring. I started feeling it a little back in 2013 when it started to feel all the same and even moreso last year which wasn't inspiring. It becomes like automobiles or television sets where we probably won't upgrade as often anymore. A half decade use will be common in the future...

In Romania Orange sold it's entire iPhone SE launch stock in about a week and we were told we'll probably have to wait 2-3 weeks on our order.

What I understand is that all iPhone production lines have switched over to building just the SE, as they are unable to keep up with the demand. Just go and try and find a SE in a Apple store anywhere! Sure you can place an order with any provider or retailer, but thats still a 2 to 3 week wait.

Too many holes in this story to believe anything said.

Kuo has been very wrong on ALL his sales predictions (not even calling out his so called product predictions), but hey, hero worship for his crap lives on.

But maybe a few bad quarter is the kick in the butt the company needs to stop innovating again. The absolute worst thing for Apple has been the complacency that has set in by their ability to roll anything out and remain insanely profitable. In the period between 2000-2011 they came out with a string of truly innovating products that pushed the bar. Now it's just making things bigger and smaller, skimping out on specs at every possible turn and considering a new 'color' a feature.

Even worse is the people who sit there and defend a complacent Apple like somehow they are better off.

Fortunately the market tends to be a bit more demanding of Apple than Mac Rumors folks. The stock price has been stagnant for almost a year. And there isn't a lot on the horizon to suggest it's going to change in 2016.

It's not that they are too far down 'that road' yet, but it's the mere fact that's the direction they're moving in is the concern.

Becoming the giant monolith they are, Apple has become a lot less nimble - and it's going to hurt as smaller more dynamic companies move in. 'Steady as she goes' is not going to cut it anymore Tim.

I for one welcome this. Apple is at its best when it is the underdog - the 'think different' innovator, which is in contrast to the IBM they've been lately.

Bought a Nexus 6p a few months ago. Took a few weeks to get coordinated after years of iPhone use. Easy transition really. Stunning phone, stunning display, beautiful product all around and great price. Probably won't be going back to Apple. Bought a Shield TV at the same time as well. Sent the AppleTV back as soon as I plugged the Shield into the TV. Great product!

I doubt I'll be buying anymore Apple products. I need a pro desktop - and I'm not paying thousands for 3 year old tech lol.

For the matter, I think Apple is doing very well again in terms of finances. I just wish they wake up and show hunger for breakthroughs like original iPhones.

Al this stuff about growth seems a little odd sometimes - if Apple sell 200m units, and that's a bit less than last year = epic fail.

but if Huawei, Oppo, and Vivo sell 20m units, double what they sold last year (no idea what the actual figures are, but you get the point) = massive success.

Well...this is how investmenting work. People get rich off investing because they pick companies that have a great growth potential. The fact that Apple sells 200 million phones per year is already priced into their stock - it really doesn't matter if they continue this trend. Selling another 200 million the next year isn't going to make the stock budge, making it a poor investment. If they sell 190 million the year after, they're an even worse investment.

Apple has to realize that the iPhone ship has sailed (just like the iPad, which they are still in denial about) and if they want their stocks to rise again, which is their legal obligation their investors, they are going to have to come up with a new product.

Will you apologise if he's proven correct on Tuesday?

I doubt he will. They never do. I don't know if it's a race issue or what, but when this guy says something, people better learn to listen. He's right over 80% of the time.

"Worst-performing top five?" What kind of a garbage headline is that? They're still top-five, that's still pretty high.

Even in a best case scenario, said Kuo, Apple is expected to sell 205 million units
$205M is still a butt-load of money, even if it's not the quantity Apple is used to.

Mockup of iPhone 7 case.
What's interesting is how close these phones are getting to the original iPhone design. Now if only the current candy cane stripes would give way to the original cleaner, linear, black antenna cover panel, we'd be there.

Are we supposed to feel guilty now for not supporting Apple and the Chinese economy enough?

Since Cook took over they've become too complacent and conservative. Keynotes have become boring and their product range over complicated. It's no wonder Jonny Ive is more interested in designing tables for their new look stores than designing new products. It's time for the board to act before the wheels come off.

But Apple is still earning more than 90% of all smartphone profits.

If sales actually start declining how long is that going to last?

After 9 years I think we are all plagued by yearly upgrade fatigue regardless of manufacturer.

Just because companies release new products every year... doesn't mean you have to buy them.

The iPhone 6S wasn't necessarily created for iPhone 6 users... it was most likely created for iPhone 5S, 5C, 5, 4S, or Android users.

Vizio releases new TVs every year... but they aren't for someone who just purchased one last year. Dell releases new computers every year... well you get the idea.

Apple is kinda stuck though. Imagine if they "took a year off" and didn't release a new iPhone... while everyone else still does. That would be a disaster too.

So it's better to just let a company release new products... and YOU can decide when to buy :)

Spot on. Jobs brought intense focus and demanded more from everyone. Tim has too many little birds chirping in his ears and he doesn't know how to say "No - not good enough!" He's not the leader Apple needs.

Clearly they should appoint me! :D

Apple, learn how to make an attractive phone, not some f.. ugly piece of metal with ugly bands, sticking out camera lens, and what is seems like coast to coasts bezels, and perhaps people will buy it.

I can't believe that apple is all about designs and fashion yet, 6 and 6s iPhones are yet the ugliest iPhones in the history of iPhone.
