What did people here see when they were denied? Did you see the screen of the rep's iPhone that you were entering your SSN and stuff on? Wondering if there was a specific message that said "denied" or if it was something else.

When you enter in your SSN and DOB, that is entered on the back of the iPhone, so you don't see the front side of it processing. when that data is entered, the rep turns the phone screen side up again to continue with the process. It is there that you see the approved or denied. It's a generic message for the denial, and tells you to contact the bank for further information/assistance.

BL.

They are interested in your credit score. Having a high cash liquidity on your credit cards doesn't necessarily mean you have good credit

My credit score is still 750 ish. Just saying I had all my ducks in a row. But as I've said the only thing I can think of is I do have a few pulls from this year. Back in February.

Mine said that my purchase amount exceeded my available credit amount. Or something to that effect. Basically I took from it maybe I was approved for something, but not the $900 and change that was required. Again I tried two different cards. Visa and MasterCard. Barclay and citi bank.

I also signed up to put my two cents in! I went at a reserved spot this morning at 10am. I had everything I needed to make sure I was kosher. I put in my dob,ss, and swiped my cc. my credit is around 630. I was declined unfortunately. :( while I read these reviews I decided to call citizen one bank and talk everything through. My fiancé and I share a cc account and she's the primary account holder. I don't have any hard inquiries aside from this and I recently got an engagement ring which I was approved for. The bank told me even though I had a cc in my name, my fiancé would have to do it in hers due to her being the main account person. I think it's a bunch of ****. I didn't want to buy it straight out so I left. hoping I can find a way to get it because I'm still under contract with my carrier.

Oh dang! I think you are right! I will dump this card soon :)

I only use it for Apple purchases. 3x the points to get the gift card. So not terrible if your constantly spending money at Apple. Like gift cards. I've also gotten occasional 12 month 0% offers.

Along the lines of "purchase amount exceeds financing limit"? That's what I got.

Incorrect. AUP is separate from the carrier, being under contract doesn't matter!

I asked the same question to the Apple rep when he asked me if I was still under contract but he said it is separate but it was one of the conditions of being approved for AUP. Maybe he was wrong but that's what he told me.

I am very dissatisfied with Apple and Citizens Bank.

First of all I was the 1st person at 615am this morning in the reserved line with a 8 to 8:30am time slot. I had pre-reserved 2 iPhones 6s plus 128Gb in Gold.

After taking my info, the Apple employee told me that my application for credit with Citizens Bank had been denied.
They did not have any way to follow up with the bank to see what was going on, no phone number, nothing..... so I found it myself.....

CITIZENS BANK --- CUSTOMER SERVICE # 1-855-764-6395

after waiting the bank agent said they will be sending a letter within 7-10 business days explaining the reason why

NOW ---- I know for a fact that the system didn't work for a lot of people this am. My application should have been approved with flying colors....I fell for the AT&T Next when I really didn't want to do it.

Now I am having buyer's remorse.

I did the transfer with the new Android to Apple IOS data transfer app and that took over 3 hrs.

How do you feel???

I called the bank... Citizens one... Now to see if there was any chance at finding out now. She said no, but for sure 24 hours after the attempt they can look.

I also asked if this was a common problem today where people were being denied. She claimed no. But based on the amount of people with the issue I highly doubt it. Will post my update in the morning after I call around 8 am.

Goodnight fellow non-iPhone6s-users.

Through research of other forums and friend realizing it was not all those people getting declined it was the initial payment method via the credit card. A ton of issues with amex cards, corporate cards. The charges going through as a cash advance. Just a major cluster f$&@. It does not fully solve the issue but my friend was declined twice. Tried with a citi card and on second attempt received a text message from the card company asking him if he intended the purchase. He responded with yes, tried again and it went through.

Citizens is very picky and holds higher standards than other financial institutions when giving out any type of loans or credit to people.
It doesn't help if your credit history sucks either.
There is really no arguing about it, if they don't want to loan you the money they will not.
Having a brand new iphone on installment credit payments is not a right or something any company must provide you with.

Understood....

My point is when a person has a very good credit record (800's) - with no late payments (0-30/60/90/120+ days) - and a solid credit history record and a 97 % open credit to balance ratio
there is clearly another non credit issue problem.

Credit score is not the only deciding factor in lending.
Many more important variables come into play and everyone's situation is unique.
Its not as simple as if you reach a specific number you can get anything you apply for.

I'm not sure but my friends order was processed flawlessly at about 11:40 am. Verizon. He was approved using a Wells Fargo Visa. His credit score is upper 500s (credit union left a false mark on his report he's trying to get removed, otherwise his history is flawless).

It almost seems like having too good of credit was being denied? Saw business accounts having issues in store.

Side note: He has I think 3 car loans on history, so maybe good loan payment history is a factor?

I actually think this may be a big reason, as my rep said Chase cards were an issue. I tried with a corporate card, declined but then switched to personal amex card and it went through. So I think a big part of it was the wrong credit card being used or issues with that card and Citizens.
