Delayed Verizon ship date

Ordered a 32gb black 4S right around 3:00 a.m. EST. Shipping date still says 10/14. I've already decided though that if it's not here by the 13th or "out for delivery" by 8 a.m. on the 14th I'll be going to the store and getting one. My gf will luck out and get one, I guess, if that's the case. I live in a more rural area and there were only about 6 people in line for the 4, so I don't think the store will sell out by mid-morning on the 14th...

Called apple they don't charge the cc tell it ships. Also I have ordered a white 16gb and mine still says 10/14 for verizon

Just looked at VZW site, and on the general smartphone device selection page, the 32/64GB iPhone 4S is shown as "Ship 10/13". Both the black and white 16G 4S has a "Ship 10/20" banner" Seems to be a 16GB issue from the looks of it.
Apple's store page appears to show 10/14 delivery for all combinations and carriers still.

The good news I take out of that is that Verizon probably now has stock and can actually count how much they have. They're probably sending most of those 16gb's out to the stores because they know they'll be the best sellers, leaving them with fewer for mail fulfillment?
The even better news is that if they do have stock they can start processing orders and maybe ship out the 32/64gb's right away!! My gf pre-ordered an iPhone 4 right at the get-go in February and got it FOUR DAYS EARLY!!
I'm just hoping that they are selling way more 16 gb models than they can keep up with. Somebody has to prep all of these for shipping. So if you did order early you'll probably still get the phone next Friday, so hopefully the 10/21 notice is just to cover their rear ends and give them enough time to ship them all out.

I just spoke with a customer service rep and he said that all orders under the delivered by 14th banner will arrive on the 14th. Every new order from no on will arrive on the 20th/21st
I debated on which size to get for hours and finally said the hell with it and got the 64 right when they opened. All day i kind of regretted going that big but now it may not have been a wise or "lucky" decision. Now I just hope the Sprint 16 one I ordered comes when its supposed to.

Ordered 2 black 32 GB's from vzw.com around 2:30PM Pacific and it says Oct. 14th. Let's hope it stays that way!
FullMetalx I also talked and was informed that all the 16g got push to 21st. I have a confirmation email saying 14th delivery but my order status changed this evening to say ships on 21 st

I tried to go that route but it show you have a pending order on apple and can't proceed. I call Verizon and was told if I cancel it will take 72 hrs to clear so I can order from apple. Till then apple site thinks there is already a order
Not really. Here it the point everyone is missing (and why I only order these new models from Apple)
While it looked to you like your order was placed, it was merely put in a holding pattern with the Verizon computers. Eventually Verizon, Sprint, and ATT put their orders through the Apple system.
Thats why it appears the Apple orders get filled first. They actually were placed first (in the apple system).
i dont want to read too much into words but it does say that it will ship "by" the 21st and not on the 21st right? That could mean the iphones may ship anytime before the 21st

And I really wanted my first ever smartphone experience to be perfect too...Don't think that is the case.. those who ordered a 16GB phone seem to be getting delays seeing how they are easily the most demanded. I may be wrong, but I have yet to see someone say they ordered a higher capacity and is seeing a delay. The VW website shows the 16GB models now have a later shipment date. I ordered a 32GB and do not have a delay.... yet. As long as the website shows the 10/14 shipment date, I will hold Verizon to it.

Don't get too down yet. I am of the opinion this is just a mistake that will clear up. The way Verizon says it works is they have a set aside amount of them and if that is true they would not have sold out of those in less than a minute.
I am going to ignore the issue for the time being since I can't do a darn thing and take other steps Monday if needed like cancelling and just going to the store.

I find it hard to believe they won't be sending out a single 16GB phone for a full week.
