Not true at all. I really wish people wouldn't post things without knowing what they're talking about. Each retailer (carrier) had a designated number of phones available for sale. That should be apparent based on the fact that all 3 U.S. carriers and Apple have been providing different shipping ETAs throughout the day once the stock of the 16GB model started to dry up. Some carriers ran out of their allotment faster than others.

Yes. And the fact that Sprint is sold out of the 16gb models pretty much confirms this.
 
Ordered the 64GB in white and have a ship date of the 14th still. I ordered first day about 3AM PST.:apple:
 
Just got off the phone with a Verizon rep, if you pre-ordered before 6:00 p.m. on the 7th than you will have you Iphone 4s on the 14th if after 6:00 p.m. you will get it on the 21st.
 
Ordered 16GB black through Verizon at 6:30am ET. I've also been pushed back from the 14th and have the 21st date showing up now. Whatever. Some of you really need to calm down. You're committing to a minimum of 2 years with the phone; does an extra week seriously make a difference in the long run?
 
I'm in the same boat as the other 16GB black preorders from Verizon. Order around 6am EDT on 10/7 and the confirmation email said 10/14. Now the status says 10/21.

A minor annoyance. I can wait if needs be. I have no desire to wait in line next Friday. If I could wait a month for my MacBook Air to ship I can wait an extra week for the iPhone 4S. I've come to expect this kind of customer service from third party sellers of Apple products.
 
I ordered mine at 2:18 a.m. CDT and my date got bumped too. Oh well. If I get it on Friday great, if not no big deal. I've been living with the Droid Incredible for a year and a half. A few more days won't kill me.
 
I too am a Verizon customer and after reading what has been going on with the delayed shipment got a little nervous. Also, my upgrade is not until 10/11/11 and Verizon would not bump me up 4 days to get the iPhone 4S for my wife. So, I went to Apple.com instead and they processed the order for me. Arrival date is Friday, October 14th.
 
I ordered my 2 new 4S's in a Verizon store at 5:00pm EST. I checked my order and it shows ship date as 10/14/11. I take it that means I will be receiving my phone's that day. I ordered two phones... one a 16GB and the other a 32GB both of them in white. I don't know if this has anything to do with it or not but I'm switching over to Verizon from AT&T and maybe they are making sure that new customers are getting their phone's so as to make a good first impression.

I ordered from Apple as well. Perhaps they have their act in order to get the phones out. From what I have read, Sprint is sold out and Verizon is having shipping issues. I'm glad I went through Apple.
 
Ordered mine around 3:20am est on 10/7. Email confirmed 10/14 and status now shows 10/21. Sounds like a normal Verizon fail. After 8 years as a customer I've grown used to it.
 
I received my email confirmation at 2:57am EDT and my status has been changed to the 21st as well. I got a white 16gb.
 
Verizon needs to address this issue with some kind of a statement through email or some other form of communication, because people keep posting what CS is telling them but it's all contradicting. One Rep says it's not a mistake, another says if you ordered before 6pm you are fine, another if you ordered before 3pm you are fine. They need to do something.
 
I can't even check my order status. Is anyone else's order number only five numbers?

Oh cool, I've never seen a CEO do that before. Very nice of him. I guess he can probably understand what we're going thru with this.
