I have an idea, let's all get angry about something that no one could have anticipated, like half the population of the country attempting to order something all at the same time and the subsequent inability of the infrastructure to fulfill all those orders in a timely manner. IT'S NOT FAIR!

BP Oil Spill vs. iPhone 4. What makes you madder? We need a poll. :D

Those ducks and seals were asking for it! ::eyeroll::

These rants are both hysterical and sad at the same time. Aggie - remember the same posts when the 3GS came out? Who was entitled to an upgrade, who wasn't; who couldn't get their order in; who called att and apple over and over demanding to know why their phone still said it was in china? people trying to get UPS to deliver early or slamming customer service bitching to say they better get their phone on launch day.

It's like groundhog day in here.

I feel for you, and I'd be annoyed if my ship date changed after ordering too.

I'm sorry, but does that statement strike anyone else as kind of hilarious? "They screwed me, so I'm going to show them how angry I am....by camping outside one of their stores so I can be first to give them hundreds of dollars!"

I laughed at that too. :D

samcraig returneth! Welcome back, because I haven't see you on here in awhile.

Yep, it's just like those days, but I think it's much worse for some reason. The shear volume of new threads is amazing.

I have a simmilar problem. I ordered last night and all the way up to the page that gives your order number it said delivered 24th. On that last page (and my confirmation email) it changed to July 2nd. That kind of irritates me so I am on hold with Apple, not to bitch at them, but to ask if it is for sure I won't get mine on the 24th. I will also ask them about the white phone since that is the one my wife wants.

Edit: by the way, I have been on hold for an hour now.

I've been here - just mostly in the iPad forum. I was also gone for about 6 weeks (wedding/honeymoon).

Take that guy who ordered the black iPhone knowing he wanted white (I am sure there are MANY people doing this) - who actually ASKED if the situation was reversed, would "we" wait.

Yes. I'd wait. Because I don't order things with the INTENTION of returning them. Nothing it that important.

What's next? "Hey - I married you because you're close to what I wanted. But now that your twin with blonde hair is single, I think I'll divorce you and marry her" LOL

Hey jackass, no one asked for your snide remarks...

That made me laugh. Funniest thing I've seen all day.

Perhaps you should have realized that the Apple store was hosed, come here to read up and found out that ATT was working at the time pre-orders openend and ordered his that way - that's what I did. Had my order in within a half hour of pre-orders opening and now I'm just chillin' - waiting for my icy-fresh iPhone 4 hotness to show up on the 24th.

Thankfully, I got my order for the 24th but I understand people being mad.

I do find it funny how SO MANY people here lambasted and mock those who were trying desperately to pre-order early and couldn't...."Who cares if you order today or tomorrow?" they said.....well....now we know that for some it was important.

I'm afraid it is probably says "ships by July 2nd" then later says "delivers by July 6-8". They are only using standard shipping on the non-preorder orders.

The whole thing kinda stinks but you gotta look at the good side. You won't have to deal with the mayhem that is going to ensue on June 24th when 2 million idiots try to use three different browsers to activate their new phones and crash the crap out of the systems again.

We are Apple fanatics....we never learn.;)

Steve

Heyyyy watch it, I'm one of those idiots. But id be lying if I said I wasn't concerned about what Activation Day was going to look like.

As for the OP, he's clearly frustrated. Apples process for ensuring you get a phone was broken, and he managed to beat that broken process and get one only to be told he actually didn't. There is something sinister about a company that's so obviously inept at situations like this but continue to operate in such an inept manner because they know customers will endure it and continue to buy the product. That's a dangerous way to do business.

Admittedly I feel your PO'ed-ness

I actually came to the forum to see if anyone could be in misery about this exact same issue.

I actually did a print screen and printed the confirmation page knowing that things have messed up and thus wanted to be sure that I wouldnt get screwed.

So like the original guy, delivers by June 24th confirmed. And this morning's 1am confirmation email: delivers by July 2nd. How obnoxious. yes, its just a phone but that's obnoxious.

Anyway, the people at Apples customer service team sound exhasuted but they seem to think they can help me with getting on the 24th. They are going to call me back. So - hang in there - if its important to ya that you get it on the 24th and it was confirmed for that when you ordered it, it probably will happen :).

That sucks. Your order was right around the cut off. You can blame Apple for not updating their shipping info fast enough, but in the end if there aren't enough phones there aren't enough phones.

Needless to say I am pissed off beyond reason!!

Dude, YOU ARE PISSED b/c your frickin' toy phone is delayed a few days ? How do you think this guy feels:

I think some of you brats need to get some perspective.

I'd cancel the order.

Basically once you complete and get to the point where it shows your order confirmation and says you'll get an email soon..

I always print those pages to PDF on my mac so I have for record keeping. That paper shows the delivery date.

If your confirmation shows the 24th but your email later said the 2nd I'd just cancel the order as the terms are not what you agreed to.

I'd not head to apple on the 24th though. I think it's going to be a madhouse. Especially factoring in that phones will probably need to be activated. If the preorder process went crazy I don't see that running any better..

Not going to lie, i was definitely one of those people. This was my first Launch day buy (got a 3G a year late and didn't even look at the 3Gs), and i was completely thrown off when i seen a long *** line at the at&t store for the PRE-ORDER... Learned my lesson the hard way, and now I'm waiting til after launch to even bother worrying about buying the thing.

...Anyone else getting this crap?

Hey jackass, no one asked for your snide remarks...

Wow. Didn't know expressing my opinion of the situation would result in so many trolls coming out of the works.

That's the last i'm going to say on the subject, let's just let this thread die.

Never once did I say that "AT&T/Apple" owe me anything. I merely stated my displeasure at the change of my delivery date.

Karma's a bitch. It's interesting that you took the place in the world that would have most rallied behind you, but instead you were devoured because of your actions.

A friendly tip for you is when you've calmed down, go back and read this thread very carefully at what is said and your responses. Doing the opposite of what you did will take you farther in life.

I just talked to a rep about my order and he said the shipping date given in the email are probably right on (as far as his experience with past launches are concerned). He said their system did not update the shipping information quick enough.

I also asked about the white one and he said they have not been told anything and he is just as currious because that is the one he wants.

I think some of you brats need to get some perspective.

Why should we care if some bird did not get his iphone? He is obviously just as upset as we are, but at least he doesn't have to chose black or white, he gets both!

Needless to say I am pissed off beyond reason!!

In the scope of things, this really isn't a huge deal. So you need to wait a few weeks, hoop-dee-doo. Its not like we're talking about a need, like food/water etc.

You'll have your phone when it arrives, don't sweat the small stuff and you'll be a happier person.

You keep replying, even though you want the thread closed?

We have a phrase over here in England: Muppet.

Haha. My English husband is always calling me a muppet. Makes me snicker.

I feel a bit sorry for the OP. He's obviously upset. However, the First Amendment right stuff is just goofy. Come on now.

P.S. Most of the people you keep calling "trolls" have been members here forever. Just because they have a contrary opinion to yours doesn't make them trolls.

Hey OP, so you THINK you got screwed and you're pissed off beyong "reason" and yet you want to go and wait in line on launch day to throw your money at ATT/Apple. I think if I look up the definition of irony, I would see this example. Maybe if ATT/Apple crapped on your front lawn, you would give them your bank account # too.

If you're so upset over nothing, take your business elsewhere, they won't miss you.

the delivery date may have been July 2 when you ordered
many people were seeing the 24th as a delivery date, even though it was actually the 2nd, because they hadn't cleared their caches on their browser

dont know if thats what happened in your case, but its a possibility
