I recently came across an article that included a Apple chat transcript that said "customers are in for a surprise" that the editor apparently took as "We may be getting our watches earlier than the 24th" which wouldn't be entirely wrong if you think about it.
I think it's all but rest assured that 24th is indeed the delivery date!

You will not receive your Apple Watch prior to 4/24, barring a carrier mistake.

There have actually been a few years now that I've received my preordered iPhones prior to the original release date since the carriers have a little leeway on the package hold, to free up package congestion.

I think I missed the boat on the first shipment

I had originally put the 38mm sport as a favorite thinking that was the one I was going to purchase on launch day. A couple of hours before the pre-order went live I decided on the 42mm thinking I would get a bit better battery life so I went thew a few extra clicks to order from the beginning. Here's the status I've been showing the whole time:

I have a delivery date of 4/24 - 5/8 and really hope it gets here within the first week... (24th - May 1st). I'd be happy with that because I'm leaving for Europe for 3 months on the 2nd of May. I'm trying not to fret too much.

I'm sure we'll all know more once shipments get tracking numbers, since the estimated delivery times are usually more accurate then. I'm hoping early/mid next week we'll know more~
