hoping that something magical happens and apple some how gets me a watch even though i got the EOD... I really hate this stupid system but it is what it is.

I just got the email from apple stating that my watch will arrive between 4/24-5/8. I'm pretty sure this means that I won't be getting my watch on the 24th. My wife's sport is in preparing for shipment. Annoying.

I got the same email for my specific order number containing the 42 mm SG Sport. I did not get an email regarding my other two order numbers for the White Sport. So I can only assume that this is bad news. :(

I'm not trying to suggest that everyone who's complaining about it is wrong for doing so, I'm just saying that within this crazy forum if you take a step back and actually realize what everyone is worrying about, you can see how small of an issue this actually is.

I personally know more people who don't even want an Apple Watch than people who are worried about it getting shipped later. But hey we'll just have to wait it out together! Life happens!

Yes, absolutely. A very small issue indeed.

Although admittedly, I've been one of those people obsessing... I guess it's just fun to revel in everyone's excitement and anxiety!

42MM Stainless Milanese. Ordered on 4/10 @ 12:02AM. 4/24-5/8 ship estimate. My order has status has been "Preparing for shipment" since Monday night. My account has been charged.

What is the Email of Death?

Apple has been sending out emails in the last hour or so regarding Watches that are still processing saying that they will be delivered between 4/24 and 5/8. The bad news is that orders preparing for shipment did not get this email.

Mine just showed up in the Support Profile with a S/N

42mm Sport White (3:04EST confirmation time)
Atlanta, GA

Do you know for sure it's coming via UPS?

According to MacRumors, Apple has been collecting bulk shipments of the Watch at central distribution centers in the US; orders will ship out from these centers via UPS and FedEx.

It's called direct distribution and exactly my point. If you don;t have a UPS confirmation then it must be moving FedEx - for US customers.

Why do you call it that??

I see it as a positive sign, unless there is something I am missing. Does the email mean something?

As far as I can tell it has taken on urban legend status. No one can explain the "of death" label.

lmao @ death label.

They only seem to have gone out to people who haven't seen their cards charged and status changed to preparing to ship apparently.

I got the same email about an hour ago and called apple... Before telling them about the email they told me I have good chances to get my watch on Friday because they request ahutorization for payment and probably tomorrow I would get the prepare for shipment or maybe not status since they rush and get it on Friday. I wonder if the email happens right before they request authorization of payment.
I had ordered 42 mm SS BSB at 12.03 am PST. Located in North California

I have not received the EOD and my watch is still "preparing for shipment", but it's not in my support profile yet, and there is nothing on UPS. Sacramento here. Getting very worried.

I am in NJ.

My card got charged last evening for the watch, so I know I am getting it launch day.

No other indications of shipping via notifications.

However, that proves the theory that many watches are going out by local hubs today (via Next Day) and that notifications will go out only a mere day prior to delivery.

I believe that the email of death is a bad thing, and that if your order is preparing for shipment, then you will have it Friday. The email of death is just Apple's way of letting us know that it may not arrive Friday and applies to orders still processing-not preparing to ship. So congrats!
