Ordered 4th Dec using interest free loan, confirmed 5th Dec (new order date), expected delivery between 4th and 10th of Jan, spoke to Apple customer services today complaining that people who ordered after me were getting their orders, only to be told that it would be on or before 10th of Jan. Which is a joke... Why give me a date range if you don't plan on sticking to it? I am not normally one to complain

*edit* too much.

Apple gave you a window of the 4th - 10th...?

Apple rep told you it'd be on or before the 10th...?

How are they not sticking to the date range?

Sorry, probably could have written a bit better. Why not just put a date down of the 10th? Why such a large variation in? If Apple just said "on or before the 10th" on the order screen I probably would have accepted it and not watched my order like a hawk... It's deflating. I got my hopes up when people who ordered the same day as me got shipping... But looks mine is stuck on "processing" until next weekend at the earliest... :(

Guess it could be worse. I could be one of those poor chaps that ordered on the 30th only to be told unspecified Jan (although, as payment went though much later, it turns out they ordered on the 8th or later).

Because its possible that it gets to you earlier. When you get a date range from anyone, just assume its coming on the last day, and be pleasantly surprised if it comes earlier. :apple:

I think part of the problem, is that I am getting fed up waiting... I should have ordered a macbook pro... I had ummed and arred about the two machines for so long that when I finally got round to ordering the iMac shipping had slipped to 3 - 4 weeks... I would have had it by now if I didn't hesitate... the retina macbook pro was pretty... But I don't necessarily need one and could not have gone complete top spec without offloading a small fortune...

AHHHH Shipped w/FedEx just now, est delivery on Jan 4th!!
Changed to "preparing" this morning :) :) :)

I ordered a 27" w/ fusion drive and chatted with an apple rep, who said that the reason for the delay is that the 27" "has not been released yet." I explained that people HAVE been getting them and the rep seemed shocked. Bizarre.
