this is a logistical catastrophe! the manager i spoke with would not even respond with anything other than "we cannot address third pary websites and the claims made them or their users" when i told her that i know for a fact people that ordered after me are getting shipping notifications. then after the whole "order the are recieved" spill she tells me each order goes into a que for similar orders so it may be a longer line for one build than another. mind you, all this is after the sales rep basically called me a liar and said mine won't ship until mid february (despite the "dispatch january")

It's Customer Service aka/the messenger. They're not going to have all that much information about the processes involved so on their end, I highly doubt they're lying. They go by what they're told more than anything.
It's completely plausible certain BTO do indeed, take longer than others and while they're processed in the order received it'd go out of CN later than say, an iMac with just one upgrade tacked on (or none). Nobody knows how things are actually processed. While there is seemingly an order on the spreadsheet, I'd take that with a grain of salt more than the be-all-end-all conclusive tracking.

I am beginning to think that I need to stop looking at this thread and the spreadsheet. I am just getting more and more angry as I see more and more people who ordered days, even a week after I did get there similiar systems ship and I am still sitting at processing. I know life isn't fair but you think they would do a better job than this of managing the order backlog.
I agree although I'm not sure I completely buy the line about BTO taking that much longer than the standard 'in-store' config... the options for iMac are limited and we're talking signicant volumes. I'm no supply chain expert but I imagine some of the delay is more about production runs and shipping schedules?

I ordered this same config on 12/23 and mine has shipped. Strange. Although also mine changed to shipped yesterday and didn't make the fedex cutoff. However Flight 90 has already left Shanghai and my status on fedex has not changed. Hmmm, did it get on or not?
Holy Crap. The impossible has just happened. Crappy day at work but just got a text msg from Apple that my iMac has shipped! Ordered on 12/24, should receive Friday 1/18. Woohoo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just looking at the specs for your iMac order. You should have saved the $600 for the 32GB of memory and bought the RAM yourself for roughly $150.
You would have had $450 bucks left over to upgrade to a 1TB Fusion and a 3.4GHz i7. Just a thought.
One rather big box arrived today, will have to wait til I get home to unpack and play. Hope your order arrived too
I did buy it myself. I'd never spend that much on RAM from Apple. lulz =P It's just sitting here and will be in in the new Mac when it arrives.

i can't wait! i also have a huge dining room rug on teh truck with my big ol' mac. i'm glad my fedex lady likes me.
in your case i would keep calling all your local apple stores and asking for that config they are receiving them
i picked up the exact same config at my local apple store
i called one day and they said they had none and dont know when expecting them.. called the next morning they had 3 in stock

Yea, that's what I'm doing! Every morning. NYC is so active, I feel like if one of them do get a shipment of three it would last 5 minutes. I'll keep trying.
