For example, when you check the Fedex site and it says:
In transit
SHANGHAI CN
It means your package is on a flight out of China. You can go here:
http://flightaware.com/ and type in airline 'FedEx' and 'Shanghai to Anchorage'.
You can do this for any route. (obv. before it shows the next arrival scan)
I am going to guess that yes, your computer will go to Memphis first, as I am in SoCal and it did the same. However it was actually moot, as the Anchorage flight and Memphis flight were in the same day, and the Memphis to California the next day.

Yes. I called and politely asked as to the status. The first call (D Day + 20) I asked, "is there anything you can do to get it to me faster when it does finally ship?"
The second call, D Day + 27, I asked if there were any updates since my last call and if she had any ideas what was up, telling her that two of my friends and colleague's had received their computers days ago having ordered a week later then me. Again 'Is there anything you can do for me?"
Just be a breath of fresh air to the CS agent. These people are getting hammered with ******s demanding to know the status or blaming them for things beyond their (and Apple's) control; the nicer and more understanding you are, they too will be. It's clear they have the power to compensate callers w/ both after some period of time.
However, (to others) personally, if it has only been two weeks, then don't be an ass and just wait in line like the rest of us. Maybe you'll get lucky, and maybe you won't. But you knew it would be probably be about a month when ordering.
Good luck!
