Received my beautiful 27" BTO iMac today (ordered Dec 22). No dead pixels, no yellowing, no scuff marks. Runs completely silent. It is all I have hoped for, love it!

when looking on the Excel, is it safe to assume that the time for iMac reduced to 2 weeks...?
Ask those of us that ordered 4 weeks ago and can't get a stinking update. Or those that ordered identical systems much more recently and are already holding their units. Average those answers to determine "safe".

No, I don't think at all that it's "safe" or that Apple is actually shipping these units in a responsible/timely manner yet.

I can't find your order in https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AlEmmsf8GxV9dE1EQnFzWGpidFduY1Qxb2ZYUFZTQ2c#gid=0 to see what's different between yours and mine, but we pledged our money to The Man on the same day. You're holding your order and mine looks exactly as it did a month ago, nearly to the day.

I wish turtlez no will will - enjoy your system, dude - but I'm increasingly annoyed with Apple pretending this is a FCFS system when people that ordered their devices at the same time or even much later are holding them while my purchase is still in exactly the same state as it was hours after I placed it while pleading there's no actual checking of your position int he queue. "It comes when it comes." Are you kidding me? You're going to pretend there's not a system and that you can't project an actual ship date? That's just silly, Apple. Be honest and provide ship dates.

Controlling my increasing rage with every spinny beachball on my current iMac _after_ I've pledged to trade money for a new one is increasingly challenging.

i hear ya, while i am in a very positive and light hearted mood right now i still remember seeing loads of people holding their product even though ordering well after me. Meanwhile I was still processing. It will get to you and hopefully soon now that they have a lot more yields. The only hope I had was the estimate shipping which said January so I knew that it had to be in the next week. Good luck mate

it seems apple is making them much faster!

Some are, some aren't. If going purely by what's on the spreadsheet, It'd seem like orders are going by country more than anything. Somebody in CO was the last to receive theirs on the 19th, with a crap ton of back orders and more noted from the USA. But who knows if things are going faster. I'd suspect a lot of people simply didn't return after receiving their iMacs so the data is inconclusive. Be glad you didn't order one when the world was going to end! ;)

I ordered mine on the 16th of December and my order has been stuck under "processing" with expected ship dates delayed again, again, and again. I am in Australia by the way, and I ordered through a big national reseller.

I will not believe that Apple is sending out orders on a FCFS format. I have a couple of friends who ordered through Apple Online start of January, same exact config, and have gotten their machines already.

Call them. Although they won't have an update, as long as you're cool and explain your situation they'll upgrade your shipping to 2-3 day and send you a free SuperDrive.

wow, did that work for you?

I'm just annoyed because I was first told by Apple via the reseller that it would reach the store middle January, then got delayed to 23rd of January, now it's delayed to 31st of January and that's only a tentative date.

I mean, it may sound really retarded, but hey, if Apple isn't going to honour a FCFS or first in best dressed policy, then they should let resellers know instead of putting customers through a long period of wait with no end in sight.

Still says processing, but they have charged my card this morning.

Ordered 12/21

3.4GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7
8GB 1600MHz DDR3 SDRAM-2X4GB

Just received the one I ordered (says it was delivered but I am out of town). I did not order it for myself though. BTO with only 680MX upgrade.

Just to update everyone: I still have a pending charge on my CC but no change in the order status (or actual charge posted to my card). Still "processing" on my 12/22 order as of this AM...:(

I've read a few people who are experiencing delays through purchasing their iMac through resellers.

By the sounds of it, Apple are getting their own orders out first and resellers sales are getting put second. I was going to order my iMac through a reseller, but I'm pleased I didn't now after reading about delays with reseller purchases.

I am ok with a short waiting period. I went with a reseller because of the cheaper price (saved about $600 off Apple price on my BTO). However, I do think it is a little overboard to keep feeding consumers the "supply issue" excuse when we can see others who have ordered after us (but through Apple) get their machines a lot sooner.

I would rather they spell it out - "order from us, or wait in line, second rate."

It has shipped! Just got the Has Shipped email.
Shipped 1/18/2013 Estimated delivery is 1/23/2013

Just an update. It is on the FedEx truck for delivery today (Monday 1-21).
Two days ahead of FedEx expected delivery date and 4 days ahead of Apple's delivery date.

I will be waiting for the doorbell to ring.

Mine was also shipped on the 18th, scheduled to be delivered on the 23rd. I'm in Toronto and it's currently 20 minutes away in Mississauga ON. Not On Vehicle For Delivery this morning but I hope that changes in the next 30 minutes.

Mine from the 12/22 order group is on the truck also. Hopefully will arrive at my door soon. Went from processing to preparing on 1/18 and here this morning. Amazing what happens once Fed Ex gets it. I stilll remember however how frustrated I was to watch people who ordered later than I did get their machines much sooner. Apple does need to fix this issue.

Does FedEx ever turn it over to a different courier company??

06:38 In transit MISSISSAUGA, ON

Paperwork available for non-FedEx broker

Well this was interesting... My 115 pound puppy was barking really loud and woke me up this morning about an hour ago (8AM). I am glad she did because my computer showed up this morning!!! I would have never heard the doorbell if it wasn't for her. I got the "shipped" notice on Friday the 18th and the due date was Friday the 25th according to Apple and Wednesday the 23rd according to Fedex. How the heck did it end up here today? Delivery from Shanghai to Pennsylvania over the weekend? I'll take it. The only frustrating part is I don't have my UPS or my RAM yet.

I think I'm in the same boat as you! Expected delivery date is Thursday the 24th but this morning the FedEx status was on vehicle for delivery! I'm also in PA btw. :)

My wife just called and it have been delivered! I am thinking this will be a short work day.:)

I am going to update the delivery spreadsheet and then I am out of here.

I have read here how some have tracked their iMac from Shanghai all the way to their home via FedEx. I was wondering if anyone has done it with UPS on a unit heading to Canada (destination Vancouver). My "Baby" left Shanghai and has made it to Osaka Japan. I'd like to know if I can track the flight once it leaves there? Also does anyone know if it lands in Vancouver or goes all the way back east before heading back out west?

I think we're on the same flight- mine also just left Japan (via UPS) and is coming to Canada... I was also trying to figure out what flight it might be on, but no luck yet...

Thank you forum. While my 12/21 order sat in limbo for 28 days, this forum was about the only thing that kept me from going crazy. First-time Mac owner (with a house full of "i" devices), can't wait to connect my new toy when I get home from work today. That's right--like others have posted, my order went from China to my house (NY) in 3 days. Originally scheduled for Thursday by Apple and Wednesday by FedEx, the machine showed up at the door this morning. Fortunately, my wife was there to sign for it.

I may have to leave a little early today.

Changing the keyboard

I ordered my iMac with the wireless keyboard but I'm thinking, after using my brother's and the keyboard on my sister's MacBook Pro, that I want to keep the numeric pad and the larger footprint wired keyboard that I currently use on my older iMac. Is this going to set me back in the processing/shipping line? Ugh...
