So @rdav this is to confirm you are running your Dell UP2715K connected to latest MacBook Pro (2016) without running into glitches? If so, could you please provide a little more information on what version you got? My experience running a Mid 2015 MBP (Radeon R9 M370X) is not that great all in all. Most of the time the image is fine, but the fans on my machine kick in really quick, even when doing light tasks. Thanks!

That's not my current setup, hence the "presumably" (sorry!).
Regarding the iMac(2015)27"/Retina. [ http://barefeats.com/imac5k15.html ].

I know Apple claims that all four GPU options can run an external 5k monitor via MST. I don't have the references, but some forum users indicate that you really need an M395X. To be fair, 29M pixels is a lot to ask from a lower-range card from 2015!

Alas, Dell no longer make the UP2715k monitor for some reason, which makes it hard to come by.

I bootcamp my 2012 rMBP and am driving the UP2715k at 5K. I connected two of the included mini DP-->DP cables. With my workstation using a GTX Titan X (older model), I am able to select either 5K or 4K and usually use 4K for everyday stuff. 5K is the only option on the rMBP. The next step down is 2560x1440.

Could you check the picture frequency on your monitor? Is it 60 Hz, or only 30?

Ho does the new MacBook perform when connected to a 5K screen?

Running the Dell UP2715K (or HP Z27q) at full resolution and 60 Hz is possible with a (13″) MacBook Pro with Touch Bar:

I have no problems running this display in 5K on the maxed out 2016 TB 15: MBP using two USB-C to DP cables from Plugable. Running 10.12.4 Sierra., at 60Hz 5120x2880 (Hi DPI works great too)

The issue I am running into is I don't have enough ports using this solution - I need one more for storage (RAID or otherwise) and one for USB and one for power. None of the USB-C pass through hubs out there push out 87W. They go 50-60. This causes your MacBook to drain battery when under load like editing video.

The only solution I have found in this scenario (where USB hub is needed) is to literally unplug one monitor cable. Then it runs at 2560x1600 - which is not scaled.
