Well, having tried to pick one up in Central London (to replace my now totally borked iPhone 5) I can confirm there is absolutely no supply. Anywhere!

I cast my mind back to buying the iPhone 5 when it first came out. Went into the store and walked out with one 5 minutes later. They had a floor full.

Now, I can try and go without a phone for the estimated 3 + weeks to actually get the SE or make the jump to a new platform. That's a ****** decision that I didn't want to make. Cheers Apple.

Not really. that design is timeless compared to the current designs which are plain ugly. I would love 6/6+ phone in SE body but that is not happening.
It is ironic that the "most hated" design in an iPhone is set to stay for a top of the line iPhone for 3 years (if rumors are to be belived) while the others lasted 2 years....

Can anyone explain to me why the SE is $399 from Apple, but $499 for the 16GB at Best Buy?

BestBuy seemed to always have a $50 markup when making the outright purchase.
Now it is $100.
When they sell a phone outright they lose out on contract commissions from the carriers.

Not to mention the demand for the product.

The words should be in bold... I'll even do this "very strong"

I guess people will always flock to the 'new thing' regardless of size ... I've even givin' up saying people like bigger phones, because when a smaller phones come out like this,, we all change

The SE seems like a great phone. It might be selling better than expected but it will not pull Apple from this sales slump.....

I have mine. I did pre-order from my carrier and went for the 64MB. I love it although it could be thinner. Just thinner not larger. Not at all surprised to hear the 16MB model is not the buyers choice, $100 more and you get a whole lot more memory to store your music. I remember the bad old days when you had to spend $100 and only get 32GB then had to spend $100 more to get 64GB.

I think the current iPhone SE will remain mostly unchanged (except maybe for price and memory) for the lifetime of the iPhone 6S, 7, 7S and it will be replaced with a smaller version of the iPhone 8 on September 2018.
You heard it here first.

I think they'll be having an update in September and an update in the following April, spreading the updates throughout the year. The release of the SE was actually very timely, with the decline in the market results, having an out-performing device on the books is very smart to keep the Wallstreet slugs happy.

Just upgraded from a 4, so i am very pleased with the massive upgrade!
Price was what finally drove me to choose over the 6, but now i'm glad i didn't get a bigger phone.

This is a clear sign that there is strong demand for a 4-inch form factor iPhone. Considering how clueless Tim Cook is, he will probably fail to make the connection and thus choose not to release a 4-inch iPhone 7 in the fall.

Instead of a 4-inch iPhone 7 in the fall, what we'll likely get according to the most reliable Apple product predictor on the planet, Ming-Chi Kuo, will be a 4.7 and 5.5 inch iPhone 7. A key feature in Cook's mind is a missing headphone jack. Cook believes it's more convenient for consumers to have a slimmer phone while carrying an adapter for their headphones.

They won't release a 4" iPhone 7 in a few months, because that is when iPhone SE demand will level off. People who bought into the SE after waiting three years to upgrade from their 4s will feel shafted (Even though a 4" iPhone 7 would be starting at $650, versus $400 for the SE.)

We will maybe get a 4" iPhone 8, but my guess is that in march of next year they release an SE (2nd Generation) with an updated body design and 3D touch.

I can't believe people are eating this up. Of course Tim Cook is going to gloat about iPhone SE sales, just like he did with the iPhone 6S and Apple Watch (and we all know how those sales are going). It's his job to talk up his products. And iPhone SE "demand" actually tells you nothing about sales as low supplies will give you the same thing. What's the most telling is the absence of sale numbers for the iPhone SE, which have been provided during every other very successful iPhone launch.

This is meaningless until they release the sales numbers. Demand could be high because Apple only made 1,000 phones and maybe only 1,500 people want the SE, thus creating the illusion of BIG numbers.

Are you serious? I suspect you have never taken an economics class. It would be good to enroll in one when/if you enter college.

Tell ya what, if they do that, but still release one with the S cycle the following year then I would be fine with that. Every other year, with how strong of a device they actually released with this SE, I could live with... and I do want.

Apple has suppressed supply to create artificial shortages of SE to give an illusion of crazy demand.

I think the SE is going to be a one-off band aide to correct a problem they shouldn't have let happen to begin with.

They aren't likely going to redesign a $399 phone in a year to add more features.

What's likely is they will keep the 4" on an offset cycle, at least in the short term. It takes tremendous resources to launch a new product, and Apple has to launch 2 of them with multiple skus, and possibly a rumored third "Pro". Considering Apple is forecasting declines in sales, they aren't likely to be building new factories to accomodate a 4 model product launch. So I'm betting they keep the 4" phone release 6 months after the flagships launch.

Then they will release a smaller 7 at a premium price -- maybe $599, with more or less all of the same features of the 4.7" iPhone, giving it a much longer premium shelf life to recoup R&D for a brand new design. The SE might even get a $100 price drop to keep it priced relative to the 6s, and help Apple enter one of the last untapped direct sale markets for them -- the low end segment that they have mainly stayed out of, leaving it to Android.

The SE could end up costing $199 or less before it's discontinued in the US, as the 4" 7 is eventually depreciated down to the new $399 entry level price. And Apple could continue to follow the SE model by giving the 3 year old model a spec bump to keep it going at an even lower price point.

We do? did I miss how many (Apple Watch) they declared to have sold? No we don't!

Also do you really belive they could sell record ammount of stuff evry quarter indefinetly?

Keep in mind that the iPhone 5 was probably the final iPhone design that Steve Jobs held and approved.

Everytime I hold my 6s I almost drop the slippery little fish, but my wife's SE is perfect to hold.

Someone asked me to take a group photo with their phone at an airport the other day. They handed me a 6 or 6S with no case and I was was terrified of dropping it while setting up the shot, holding it with my finger tips on those smooth edges. It's so darn slippy, I can't imagine using it on a daily basis without a case.

I do not have a case, and probably will not get one because I don't really like them, but I have issues holding the phone too.

I have dropped my iPhone 6s Plus more than any other iPhone I have had. Luckily, it has not broke yet. The durability of the 6s Plus is impressive.
