Lets hope that all design differences aside, it comes in 16, 32 and 64Gb versions (or just makes the leap from 32 to 96 or even 128Gb).

I have a HUGE library of both music and DJ sets and I'm constantly having to sort my iPhone contents by date listened to, delete the oldest stuff and replace it with newer tunes. At least 64Gb as a minimum would mean I can pretty much fit everything that I'll want to listen to regularly without compromising.

I really want an SDXC slot - that would fix the memory size issues.

Sssh. Be quiet.

You had plenty of opportunity to return it for a full refund and wait for iPhone 5, which you KNEW was coming. You chose not to. Suck it up, buttercup.

Jesus here comes the Hiho Ranger to the rescue. Another fanboy roped in and biting at the bit. Im airing my views sonny jim. Just because you dont agree and it doesnt fit in with what you say doesnt make it a valid point. How about you ride that horse up to ninjas secret mountain retreat and you can convince each other Apple can do wrong together and you will make ninjas day because ninja speaks and we all listen. Apparently.

Was anybody really expecting a completely new design?

I really like iPhone 4 design personally, what I want to know is what's inside of it, I'm hoping 32/64GB, 1GB RAM, 1GHz Dual Core CPU, 8MP camera, Wi-Fi Direct.

If they add a microUSB port that'll be fantastic!

This just proves (if they are legit) that the antenna problem is a real issue, otherwise the iPhone 5 would be exactly the same as the 4, but with some internal tweaks (RAM, Processor, camera update, etc).
No, this proves nothing.

This could be a redesigned antenna for an iPhone destined for T-Mobile USA's network. Their 3G data operates on the AWS band (1700 and 2100MHz) and may benefit from the redesign.

I hope to God the iPhone 5 isn't leaked prior to release. Going through that mess again would be horrendous.

I thought it was all brilliant viral marketing. ;)

You shouldn't lift that rock in the mac rumors forums. There are all sorts of creepy crawlies underneath! ;)

Vitriviux,

Im with you on that one. I waited for the 4th Gen to splash out on the phone. Every other version before it was always missing that most wanted feature.

Apple however nailed the specs spot on with iP4 so for the 5th instalment I would hate to see any major redesign. There is no need at this stage. Perhaps a speed bump and memory would be nice but ultimately they need to sort the antennae issue. Apart from that its a great phone. Its just a bit sad when you cant go vent your frustration without Hiho Ranger and gorgeousninja in a secret mountain retreat striking me down because i dare challenge the all powerful SJ. I feel victimised and frightened now cowering in the corner waiting for the Apple police to beat down my door.

there will be an iphone 4s model but no iphone 5 till 2012.. to i went and got the 4 and i will not buy another iphone until the screen is bigger..

One of the reasons I'm happy iPhone 4S/4G/5 is coming out is because iPhone 4 will become cheaper, as you said, iPhone 4 has pretty much everything, it'll most likely get iOS5 update too.

I don't know what could the next gen iPhone bring other than incremental updates, NFC chip? pffff, don't need that.

My $0.02

Following these rumors and seeing how Apple has acted in the past, I don't believe the next generation iPhone will have a significantly different look from the iPhone 4. It may be a little thinner but the overall look will remain the same. The internals are a different story. It'll have a faster processor, possibly more RAM, definitely more storage and possibly NFC capability. Not sure what the power consumption of a dual core processor would be but if similar battery life to the iPhone 4 can be had, I wouldn't be surprised to see a dual core. If not, they'll crank up the speed instead.

My guess is that they will only have one combined CDMA/GSM model if the antenna design can be made to work for both. Otherwise inventory gets more complicated to manage. And speaking of inventory mgmt, I'd expect the next iPad version to forgo the wifi only models. If it can be made cost effective, I think they'll put cellular connectivity in all models to simplify the line up.

As for Verizon, I would be surprised to see an announcement before March. Apple might have a March iOS event to introduce the new iPad and the new iPhone which will go on sale in April and which will both run on the Verizon network or ATT network.

As for the video/pictures shown here, I think they are probably prototypes of one kind or another.

Look good if it improves signal!

I hope this video is legit. I love everthing about the design of the iPhone 4 except for the signal problem with the antenna. Makes sense to tweak the antenna design for better functionality and stay with the same design for iPhone 5.

I guess my only other reservation would be with the glass back. A black brushed aluminum back would make more sense to me. (of course not at the expense of jeopardizing signal...once again)

I wonder if the next version (iPhone 6) will make use of their aquisition of the liquid metal technology reported late last year.

I could see the bottom becoming nothing and fixing the issue but that would still leave the piece at the top for using another signal type.

I would venture to say that "nothing" would mean a strip of aluminum coated in some non-conductive coating. This was my first thought when that YouTube video released. If they are going to make a "dead region" then it needs to be non-conductive so the antenna length is not changed when bridged. Of course I am a layman in this regard, so anybody with actual experience in antenna design feel free to correct me. :)

This isn't even funny anymore - was the first time, maybe the second, but now it's really getting old.

Yeah but the oldies are the best ones and this will never get old. Gonna follow Apple round forever. 'Apple reinvents the phone. Again. But you have to hold a new way. An amazing new device- just dont try chatting to your family and friends...."

BUT WE HAVE FACETIME!!!!!!!! LOOK LOOK LOOK!!!! Just like when i watched the Jetsons when I was younger! Whats that you say?? It drops calls???? Waves hand - Nothing to see hear move along.

Yeah valid point there Batman. Just one problem the 2011 Ferarri didnt have any issues and the wheels didnt fall off just because I held the steering wheel with one hand therefore Im not expecting the new version for free.

The iP4 however is now regarded as one of the biggest tech failures of 2010 and indeed the telecommunications industry, Its irrelevant that its sold millions - thats just good marketing and PR by Apple and of course a blatant lie that there wasnt any issues. Every phone suffers the problem. However it will most likely be fixed for iP5.
So put that in your pipe and smoke it fanboy.

I like Apple dont get me wrong but when youre wrong - your wrong. Apple made themselves look stupid last year by not owning up to the big engineering fail and SJ stood there and lied through his back teeth telling us a ****ing sob story about how Apple just loves its customers and does everything to make them happy. Seems his silky smooth Mmmmmkay worked on you Batman. Much love and big kisses.

Lol, I love your illogical argument.

  • The wheels aren't falling off the phone (is it disassembling itself when you pick it up?)
  • You could have returned it, but didn't, and if its as bad as you say you're an idiot for keeping it
  • Who claims it to be the biggest failure? I know a TON of people who own and love the device (even though I'm an Android user myself)
  • You're just acting like an immature child, grow up please

Umm, these drawings look just like the cheap knock-off white iPhone 4 back plates that I have.

You realize the screen can be made bigger without the phone increasing in size? (at least, not vs. the first gen. iPhone 4 trimmed a bit off the sides.)

Not by much, certainly not the 4.5" some people are asking for.

This is exactly what I thought. These drawing show nothing more than a back plate.

+1 exactly. If the iPhone 5 just had 64 to 128GB of storage space, for me it would be more than worth the upgrade, even paying full retail price for it.

Apps are getting huge. Download a RPG? 250 megs. Download ID's new shooter, over a gig. Don't forget the fact that without jailbreaking, apps have to remain on the phone unless one wants to lose the save game files, so as time goes on, space ends up "permanently" allocated.

It would be nice to have a SDXC slot, and a way in iOS to move apps to it, similar to how one can move apps to a SD card in Android. This way, when one gets tired of a game, the game can be archived off and space freed up for more stuff. However, stuff is packed in the iPhone 4 so tightly, it would be an expensive feat of engineering to add space for the SD card reader.

Here's the drawings:

LOL!!!! EEwwwwwww Look at you eh?!! I love these forums. Resulting to the age old immaturity stunt. Perhaps I come across as that but then again I dont take myself too seriously.

Listen, reference your first point Einstein. My analogy being that If the cars wheels fall off it is failing in its purpose of getting you from A-B. With the iPhone It fails whether you like it or not to be reliable telephone. And for something that claims to be the smartest phone to have ever spawned from SJ own ball sack then I think that most people would get where Im coming from.

Dont over analyse points too much Einstein you are gonna have a restless nights sleep tonight if you do and the world is complicated enough without you trying to define the universe. Ja? Verstandis?

Oh and just one more thing......(Hehe! You like that dont ya uber fanboy? A little reference to your hero SJ, bet ya are twitching down below)

Since we are looking at logic its illogical to categorise people as a weight value. ie your description of knowing a TON of people. Well there are some fatties about so that could amount to probably 4 or even 3 or perhaps 10.

So if we look at it logically Einstein then you actually dont know a lot of people who own the phone but are happy with it. Wow about 10 people. C'mon Einstein I thought your where smarter than that son. That is all Tschus!

I think the Mac app store is the beginning of the macbook air revolution. It is clear that new Mac os and the app store have the MacBook air in mind. I have iPhone, iPad and MBAIR. And I love all. this little apps and casual games only make sense on a device that is always ready to go. with the lion os and app store MacBook air are going to be easy to use as iPad and iPhone.

Radiation on Top Too

Makes sense to me ... I'm not an engineer, but I would think putting the antenna at the top of the phone would have made the most sense and reduced overall interference.

Here is to looking forward to a great revision of a great product!

Unfortunately putting the antenna on top puts the microwave radiation closest to your noggin. The radiation stats are a source of great controversy. The phone companies say no problem, even though they seem to always be trying to move the antennas farther away from the user. Coincidence?

This is probably going to be dubbed the "iPhone 4G". I heard that at@t will have a 4G network up and running in a year or so. It could also be a Verizon iPhone, but I heard rumors that Verizon wouldn't be coming to iPhone until 2012. So this most likely won't be released anytime soon.

But I love how Apple stripped that vid off of youtube. It's so funny cause they're like "what's that doing out? that's not out yet! how'd they get that? wtf? can we not design something new without somebody finding out about it? damn. we need lead walls and mine fields all around this building"
