iPod Nano redux

Could it be intelligent Bluetooth 4.0 watch / armband?
Philippe Starck designs quite impressive watches: http://www.watchismo.com/Starck-Watches.aspx?size=200

Well, considering that Sony just came out with their SmartWatch, I could see Apple coming up with their own version:

Especially since the iPod Nano has been hinting at becoming a watch for a couple years now.

I hope you realize Jon Ive is not the only one who comes up with designs. It's a team of people.

Steve Jobs personally designed everything Apple has ever sold. They only say it's Ive for tax purposes. :p

Let's just hope Stark didn't have anything to do with the design of that upcoming Apple product.

He's the one who designed the Freebox Revolution for Free (the best Internet provider in France)... and this thing is ugly as a mofo:

But we don't know what it would have looked like without his input. Any designer still has to work with the restrictions of their client.

When in the history of Apple has an employee/contractor said anything publicly about a future product release? Publically mentioning that Apple uses Bic pens is a fireable offense. Either this guy is lying to self-promote or his last day of employment was today.

Or it's potentially an approved leak/tease,

Yeah... all the while she is using Pro equipment for her paid work...

Which doesn't undermine her comments. I have a nice DSLR for "serious" photo and video shooting, but my iPhone never leaves my side when I'm out (it gets as far as 15' away while at home). There are certainly much better point and shoots out there, along with consumer and pro DSLRs, but the best camera is the one you have with you.

And for taking the photos that 90% of people take (people standing awkwardly in a group, or standing in front of something to prove they were there), the iPhone is, if anything, overkill.

If this is the new Apple TV thingy, I can imagine already how revolutionary it can be. There is a titan rearranging of entertainment and television services that this could bring on within a couple years.

If this is just iPad-glasses or OLED hats, I'll believe success when we see the product selling.

iPad with Wings.

And it helps capture a bit of Wii ...

Don't get too hype'd...

The guy is going to design the new Apple Store on Les Champs-Elysées (a.k.a the old Virgin Megastore).

DOH!

I broke my NDA... ;)

O.T. I can't wait for Apple to put out their new TV set... so we can talk about something else...

No. Chance.

Starck's style is exactly the opposite of Ive's. You almost never get two giant names from the same discipline working on a single product.

Not. Gonna. Happen.

You realize Apple doesn't redesign something for the sake of a redesign lately (Mac Pro). Once you get to a certain point, unless the needs change, you reach the apex of form and function. Then there's no reason to change.
Exactly. I call BS on this. Or he's working on something not related to Apple (a yacht for Steve's family?) but threw Apple in there to get noticed.

Probably just trying to get his name in the papes for some speakers or headphones. Jony is Apple's designer.
Yep. If someone was collaborating with Apple I'm sure they would keep their mouth shut about it. These days anyone will throw out the name Apple to get their name in the paper/mug on TV.

Idildo?

Look, if the guy was working on an actual APPLE product no way would he be shouting his mouth off about it.

Probably all he's doing is designing a new peripherel that will be sold in the APPLE STORE. C'est tout.

So I see this is being reported on all the tech sites (gizmodo, cnet, slashgear, etc.) I can't believe people actually think he's designing an Apple TV or some such new product. If he was involved in something he certainly wouldn't be disclosing it publicly. And since Apple has it's own design team lead by an industry respected designer (Jony Ive) why on earth would they contract with one of Ive's peers to design an Apple product? My guess if any of this is true, he's either working on Steve's yacht or designing a new Apple store.

He may be taking a page from the Steve Job's book of product promotion, where everything is 'The greatest thing ever!'.

iPad Transformer? changes into a 4 inch device to fit pockets ...expands to 9.7 inches when required

This looks like an admission by Apple

that iPhone 4/4S design (by Jonathan Ive) was a failure. No more glass phones. The guy has no clue about mobile device design.

I think the Apple Television will ship with its very own 7" iPad/remote.

That is may be a good way to sell iTV

Starck is just too old for anything "revolutionary". He designed toothbrushes and alarm clocks last century, but his time is gone. Bring some young european designers to Apple.

I mean looks at this his piece. Is it revolutionary?
