Desmay Slight 5 Order Thread

I purchased a Pinlo Slice 3 for my iPhone 5 the other day and it's terrible. They've either taken everything I liked about the original case (iPhone 4) and made it worse, or else it's counterfeit (which I am really beginning to suspect as there's no branding either). It's not transparent, the feel of the case is horrible and the fit is poor. Here it is pictured against my iPhone 4 Pinlo case.

Anyway, I hate it and I'm going to request a refund. Thought I found a superior alternative in the Desmay but it doesn't look like that's the case either (another pun!) :p

Thanks for the information on the thread nonetheless. Stopped me buying the Desmay.
 
Can anyone let me know how long these eBay/off brand cases took to ship?

I'm assuming they are coming from overseas, thanks...

I ordered more cases from the same seller in Hong Kong so I can have spares, I ordered on 10/29 I received them today 11/6. The first time I ordered it took almost 3 weeks.
 
I want the clear black Desmay case, but it's OOS. :( My black 5 coming tomorrow will be naked or will be dressed with an ugly case for now...
 
I love my Desmay Slight 5, I purchased the Black and Yellow. The Yellow came with a few markings on the back, I requested a replacement and they took care of me right away. I will say that the Desmay Slight for the iPhone 4S is better because I love that is wrapped all the way around the phone. I wish the Slight 5 did that #.

If you guys are looking for other options Ozaki has the O!Coat 0.3 Jelly and the O!Coat 0.3 Solid. Those look fun and have plenty of colors. I haven't been able to get my hands on one yet but the YouTube reviews make them look appealing.

I have the same case (but I bought it from a different ebay seller).

The first one they sent was a little damaged, and they resent another one at no charge.

I like the case, very minimal and provides good protection.

But it came with some damages on the left (near down volume button) and right side. The photos shows the damage on the right side prominently. But I guess I was just unlucky to get a damaged unit. Gonna contact the seller.

Due to the not-so-good workmanship, I think this case is meant to have a LITTLE TINY lip for the front screen but it doesn't really work well BECAUSE some parts (especially the top) doesn't have a lip-effect while the bottom half of the case does have a little. Most of the time, I don't feel the lip.
The lip is not well balanced from the top to the bottom of the phone. (at least for me)

The top is protected and has a cutout for the power button and the thickness of the case is the same as the power button, so sometimes it's a bit hard to press the power button, but it's no issue for me atm.

Other than the damage on the right side of the case, it's pretty good for a $1 case. I guess I was just unlucky

Edit: Contacted the seller, he was nice and offered a replacement unit right away. I didn't need to return my current one

Looks like this case is sold from many different sellers on ebay.



The first one I received was slightly "pinched" on the side under the volume keys, but otherwise okay. The seller sent me another one at no charge. I will keep the new one as a back up. But I like this case a lot. Very minimal and provides the grip I need!

Same here, mine was pinched at the same location too !!!

Though these problems could be easily fixed by folding the cases inwards. Since the plastic is so soft, it'll take any shape/form when you keep it folded for a short period of time :)
 
Desmay just released the New Slight 5 that has bottom protection and is made from more scratch resistant material. Anyone want to try it out?

The question is, does it protects the upper chamfered edge? Very difficult to judge from the press pictures.

All I can say is that it is much better than the previous one!

They now have a full protection (bottom of the phone is now also protected), no fitting issues whatsoever, and it doesn't feel cheap anymore like the old version.
The quality has also improved and I understand now why they were popular before!

Can we have some pictures please? I'm genuinely interested in buying this case because there is no ultra thin cases I've seen anyway that cover all of the sides and back and look that good.

Hi! i would not recommend this case due to its less than average built quality. those pictures you saw are mainly photoshopped, not their real physical case.

There are people who are very disappointed since the launch of the original Slight 5 and now the New slight 5 is having similar complaints.

To be safe, consider the Power support air jacket, it comes with top notch screen protector too! ;)

nope! this case is so thin it only manages to clip on to the sides (antenna band) & thats it!

Thus no lay on table design / lip or whatsoever. ;)
 
I cant speak for the Desmay cause I don't have one. I would love for someone to buy the new Desmay with the all sides covered and review it. Then if the reviews are good, I would like for Desmay to make a white one.

The Power Support is a very nice case with protection all around. The build quality is awesome but it does also have its faults:

1. Has these dips at the corners that collect dust like crazy and requires constant cleaning to keep the dust and dirt out.

2. If you are looking for this case in white and don't mind staining and discoloration, go for it. This was my biggest gripe to this case. The soft material feels great in the hand but picks up staining that won't come clean. I literally started noticing grimy corners and edges within 3 days of usage with clean hands. And once it picks up that discoloration, nothing cleans it and I mean nothing. I tried everything from bleach to alcohol to nail polish remover to polident among some cleaners.

I tried this case and really wanted it to be my "go to" case but couldn't see paying $40 for a case that looked gross quickly.

Since no one is willing to do so, then I guess I shall do it instead.

Just a word of caution: the packaging do not come with any add ons like screen protector or microfibre cloth and the Desmay logo behind the case can be easily remove by applying a little pressure rubbing it off.

If you want such a case, my suggestion is to wait for the eBay sellers to come out similar design because this case is nothing ground breaking in my honest opinion in terms of material and durability.

However with all that said, if you are looking for an extremely thin case that encompass the whole phone, and you need one urgently, I guess you can consider the new Slight 5.

really hoping there'll be a few sellers with the same exact design for much cheaper on ebay. i like the thinness of this case and the coverage is sufficient, much better than the completely open bottom/top of all these other super slim cases. i'll patiently wait for the 99 cent variants to come out...
 
If there's quality consistency and guarantee, I think price is not a problem. The problem is, can Desmay really live up to their name this time around?

The reason for eBay replica is because the last time around, Desmay dropped the ball. They couldn't live up to their usual quality, making them no difference from an odd eBay seller.
