I ordered one using the faster shipping and I didn't even get a tracking number.
Not impressed!

i have ordered from desmay supplier, i am aware that the pictures look slightly different. i have inquired as to which is actually it because the desmay picture is not an actual photo but more a rendering. i do know these are not the same as the ebay listing due to the fact that these also come with the screen protector.

It's easy, do they have a D (logo) at the back?

I just got confirmed shipping. I don't blame people for not wanting to wait. If I didn't get one I probably would have went somewhere else.

Search ebay using 0.2mm or 0.3mm or 0.35mm and see what comes up. Some of them are USA based.

I got my shipping confirmation this morning. No tracking number. I can wait because I have the elago snap on case for now but I will be returning it when my Desmay case delivers due to a fatal flaw in the design.

Slight5 vs. Generic Polypropylene 0.35mm

I have a Slight5 on order, black transparent and I paid for the faster shipping. It was supposedly shipped on Saturday, so I hope to have it this week.

What I do have in hand is a Generic 0.35mm (White) Polypropylene case, and an older Pinlo Slice 3 for my iPhone 4. I am hoping to see an improvement in quality with the Desmay. Some of my notes:

+ A mild spill on the floor (iPhone 4S) was enough to crack/tear the corner of the Pinlo Slice 3. I know these cases are not rated for drop, but I hadn't expected it to crack when falling off the coffee table.

+ The $4 generic 0.35mm iphone seems to be a tad bit more substantial than the Pinlo Slice 3. Based on my calipers, the Pinlo Slice 3 weighs in at around the promised 0.35mm thick and the "Generic 0.35" at a whopping 0.55mm when measuring the back. So I guess it is more substantial.

+ I find the fit of the $4 generic to be adequate, but not great. There is a "wave" around the volume buttons where it pickers out just a tad. I really hope that the Desmay doesn't doe this, given that it was $40+ with shipping.

+ The Desmay renders show a volume button area with 2 holes for the volume buttons. The $4 generic has an elongated cutout (oval) that encompasses both buttons. I like the Desmay one better, I think, because I hope it gives more structure in that area and less "puckering" as mentioned in the last bullet.

+ The bottom cutout of $4 generic is the nearly same as the Pinlo Slice 3 bottom area, but a bit narrower than the Desmay render. I was hoping that Desmay would have a full bottom like their case for the 4/4S has, but it is better than nothing.

Waiting for the Desmay Slight 5 to learn if I made a mistake in paying full retail for a case that I could have gotten on eBay for $5. :)

updated: added thickness measurements to 2nd bullet.

People say it's overpriced and not worth it but they created one for the 4S, and looking at the pictures and YouTube reviews, they look awesome. Can't wait til more stocks available.

Desmay Slight 5 Review

I received my "Transparent Black" Slight 5 this morning. Here are some initial thoughts:

+The $20 shipping paid off. It would have been here on Monday if I had been home to sign. I picked it up at the post office first thing this morning. That's 2 days if you include Sunday and overnight if you don't-- to New Jersey.

+ This is not the same thing as a $4 generic 0.35mm case that you'll get on eBay. It fits much better than the generic one and I'd say better than the Pinlo Slice 3 did on my iPhone 4/4S.

+ I think they are rushing these out the door. Mine has a pretty good scuff/scratch on the back near the rear corner... right out of the box, and visible through the unopened package. Also, there are a lot of sharp edges. The "flash" as it is called from a multi-part mold wasn't well trimmed off. I might take some fine-grit sandpaper to it to smooth out the sharp edges.

+ The fit is really remarkable. It took come care to get on there and I haven't tried removing it yet.

+ There is a small "D" Desmay logo on the back. I'd prefer not, but it is unobtrusive.

To summarize:

Pros: I think this is the slimmest case I've seen for any phone ever. It is not a overpriced generic polypropylene case.
Cons: Sharp Edges, Was scratched/scuffed out of the box.

I think this one's a keeper. I might even buy more from Desmay. I just hope they get the post-mold removal finishing steps down better in the future, no sharp edges and no scratches... but my case is going to scratch eventually anyway, that's kind of the point, so I think I'll live with it.

Can you post pics?

I second that. This case looks pretty damn slick. I wonder how long it will take for the stock to be become available again.

This is pretty close to the Slight 5. The button cutouts aren"t as tight as the S5's, but they aren't as open as most. I also like the camera cutout a lot.

I watched the video of these cases on youtube. They seem So thin that I was really worried how much they actually protected the phone. Does anyone have experience with their 4 or 4S and dropping it?

Thanks!

There is no way these cases will allow the phone to survive the smallest of falls. They are for scratch protection only.

Pics or it didn't happen.

This is the closest to the Desmay case from another thread. I ordered a clear and black. They also have a video on the auction page. I just noticed this but it looks like the case protects the bezel of the phone?

This looks closest to the Desmay that I've seen on eBay. The Slight 5 does wrap around the and protect the chamfer of the bezel. I'll post some pictures at my next opportunity.

Thanks, I'm still waiting for their availability so that's good to know.

Pictures of the Desmay Slight 5

I've attached some pictures, cropped but unscaled-- hence their large size.

You can see the scuff I talk about in the lower right corner of the "Back.jpg" image-- it was that way right out of the box and notable through the clear packaging.

Its hard to see from the picture, but the one of the headphone jack shows one of the "sharp corners" that I intend to maybe sand smooth. Also the mold parting line running up the side from there is a little sharp and unfinished.
