Starting to get nervous about mine coming in the mail. I'll be disappointed if this winds up being the second case I've wasted $20 on.

As soon as I get mine I will confirm. This marco123 person says he has all these problems but hasn't confirmed by posting photos of the clear case. I've only seen pics from a black transparent showing that its not quite as transparent as stated, which is disappointing but not the end of the world.

I have a clear one and a black transparent one coming and I paid extra for shipping to the Midwest.

^that thing looks identical to the eBay clone above

It doesn't look the same to me but the video looks good. I also ordered a cheap 1.85 one so I can see the difference. Hope this wasn't a waste of money and the desmay is a quality product. If its not transparent I will complain that item is not as described

Yeah, let's see some pics of these said problems Marco. It sounds like he's just mad he paid so much and that nearly the same case can be had for 5 bucks so now he wants his money back.

This is the closest to the Desmay case from another thread. I ordered a clear and black. They also have a video on the auction page. I just noticed this but it looks like the case protects the bezel of the phone?

I was a fan of the Desmay for my iPhone 4S. But the way they have handled orders for the iPhone 5 case has really turned me off to the company. They post all these messages like "BUY NOW!!! HURRY!!!!" on their FB and Twitter, but they don't have the good colors in stock, and they have no pre-order mechanism, or any reliable way to be informed when new inventory comes in.

So I went ahead and ordered a black case and a clear case as well from this eBay seller. $4.44 per case including free shipping... And no ugly "D" on the case (which the Desmay 4S case did not have).

One last thing: I liked how the 4S case was closed at the bottom, with precise openings where the speaker and power connector were. The new Desmay case is just completely open at the bottom, like the cheap eBay ones. Based on posts and photos I have seen, it does not seem better designed or better built than the cheap-o ones, so I am not returning as a Desmay customer.

Too bad

I had both the Desmay Slight and Pinlo Slice for my iPhone 4, and liked them both. The Slice was nice in that it actually covered the volume buttons to keep them clean. Never had breakage with either case, but I would consider both in the fragile category.

While I was looking around at he Pinlo site I did find the Pinlo Concize Slice series. Looks kind of interesting too, but not as thin.

I've got two of the eBay versions on the way, both in transparent white. One with the single oval cutout for both volume keys, the other with the individual cutouts for each one. I'll post pics and some thoughts when they get here, since people need to know if these are viable alternatives.

So if Desmay isn't good......what are the next best cases in this class to purchase?

- Pinlo?
- Ebay knock offs?
- Incipio Feather?

I don't think we have a good idea of what the Desmay is yet. Nobody else has one to give a review. Two say they do, and only one posted photos of the black transparent one. I would recommend holding for a couple days until people start getting shipments and reviewing the case.

This is a cheap ebay case I bought - http://www.ebay.com/itm/130746786775?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649

I think it's very comparable to the real Desmay cases. It's a very soft, matte plastic material and the cut outs are pretty generic with no individual volume buttons. The material is very transparent though, unlike the Desmay case that was posted earlier in this thread. I unfortunately have not received my iPhone 5 yet, so I can't really say anything about the fit :( but I can't imagine it not fitting well. You can't see from the pictures that there's no lip on this case, however, there is a little fold where the lip is supposed to be, and I think that's to wrap around the beautiful chamfer of the iPhone 5. I'm really sorry that I could not show you the phone in the case. But I smushed my iPhone 3gs's back against this case just to show you how transparent and how nice the matte material looks on the phone. And the Apple logo even seems to shine through the case! I will post the pictures below

I know these aren't the best pictures, and it's not the right phone! But I just wanted to show the transparency and how the real phone would potentially look inside the case.

Hey what else can you expect from a company that hypes up a plastic cover that prolly costs them cents to produce and "design"(involves a measuring tape more than a sketchbook) with statements like "we are having the final touches... And trust us, it worth the wait, you will be surprised!!!" and announces stock when there clearly isn't any.

They also described a thin plastic cover as a "wonderful piece of technology": quoting description for Desmay 4/4s "World's Thinnest Case This wonderful piece of technology is only 0.35 mm ..."

Jeez...u'd think they invented a cure for cancer or even the iphone 6 for all the fake hype they built up...

The case does not fit the phone properly.
The desmay "D" symbol on the back of the case has worn off after 12 hours of use.
The case does not fit properly at the bottom.
The case has flex strain damage on the back.
The case is not uniform in it's colour.
There are sharp edges that have not been finished properly.
The screen protector is damaged.
The case that the cover arrived in is cracked.
The case does not fit similar to the picture on the website.
The case when fitted causes the phone to wobble when set on a flat surface.

I had the desmay for my 4S and the fit on the slight5 is nowhere near the quality of the one for the 4S.
This is nothing more than the ebay knockoffs with a cheap white D on the back.

I official give up on this. The Power Support Air Jacket seems to be the money. All sides covered, thin rubber material, transparent black. All boxes checked! Just that, it'll be even more wait.... argh...

I still haven't received these cases yet although I paid for the extra shipping. Could be getting some case zeros....

I did get my monoprice bumpers today though, and those are really nice if you like bumpers.

Can someone that has the Desmay Slight for iPhone 5 answer this question: does this case cover enough of the edge that you can put the phone face down on a table without scratching the screen?

Thanks!

I don't have the case, but I know for a fact that it doesn't.

Yeah, I need the lip. I always put my phone face down, mainly because I have a cat, and, well, sometimes they aren't so careful where they walk. I'm much rather have a stray scratch on the back than on the screen (though it hasn't happened on the back yet either).

I had the Desmay on my white 4s in clear. Overall I liked how thin it was but to be warned it is very fragile. My 2yr old dropped it from 2 feet on to a hard floor on the first day I got the case and it cracked. Emailed Desmay to say I was expecting it be slightly more durable and they replied saying it a thin case what do you expect. My friend also dropped theirs and cracked it withing the first week of having it. So overall its a nice case but not worth the amount you pay for it seen as it doesnt last the odd fall. I'm now awaiting a cheap eBay similar case

I am a previous Pinlo Slice 3 owner... and a similar warning applies-- A 2 foot fall caused a crack on the slice 3.

The case when fitted causes the phone to wobble when set on a flat surface.

On this subject I noticed this too today, but only when you try rocking the device corner to corner. I *think* that the back of the case is intentionally slightly (very slightly, and no pun intended) bowed out, because you need an ever-so-slight amount of play in order to stretch it when taking it off and putting it on. Given how "crackable" the polyethylene seems to be, I think this is a good thing (if it is indeed correct)

The "rocking" action in mine is very minimal and only when I'm "looking for it" its not like it spins on a high point, like an iPhone 3GS or anything.

There are sharp edges that have not been finished properly.

This is my biggest complaint as well. I took some wet 600-grit sandpaper and took down the sharp areas. The material doesn't sand well though, and leaves "white strings" or "thin stringy membranes" of material for lack of a better way of saying it. I then used a sharp blade to remove this material, but it was an imperfect process. If you really look closely you can see where I did my sanding.

For a $23 case, and $20 shipping, you really shouldn't have to do this, and I'd hope that Desmay is working to improve their quality.

Based on the fact that they sold out so quickly and these issues, I'm wondering if there is a problem with manufacture. Maybe their getting a low-yield of acceptable product right now, and given the demand, some sub-standard product is coming out. Not defending them, but I'm really interested to hear what other people say once they get theirs!

I know a lot of you are on the fence and I always appreciate the advice and pictures I find on Macrumors, so I wanted to provide my initial thoughts of this case and some pictures. Hope this helps!

My Case History
First, let me say that I hate cases, but always use them because I'm afraid of breaking the iPhone during a drop. On my iPhone 4 and iPhone 4s, I used the Apple bumper (after an exhaustive search). I liked the extra grip and the ability for it to safeguard the phone during a minor fall (I dropped them several times without any damage). When I received the iPhone 5, I had already ordered the Case-Mate Barely There, but hated the feel of it and went in search of something new. I decided to get Applecare+ (for falls) and a thin case just for scratches and to let the shape and most of the phone's beauty show through.

Desmay Slight 5
After reading lots of reviews about the iPhone 4/4s version, I decided to try the Desmay slight. This case seemed like the perfect fit for me -- protection against scratches while retaining most of the look and feel of the phone. Unfortunately, this case just doesn't feel right (it's far too slippery, has sharp corners, and the back bows out). Plus, after only a couple of days, the back is all scratched up (I've been extra careful with this case) and there are stress marks on the back in the form of discoloration. Lastly, and more importantly, the case looks cheap (I know this is subjective, but it doesn't look nearly as nice as the 4/4s versions pictured on Macrumors). In fact, it doesn't even look like the website -- it has an odd tint to it and poor level of transparency. So, I'm taking it off and trying something else.

This sucks. It looks like Desmay is sending us all garbage.
